This is a stunning antique 18th century handmade bronze saint relic pendant. it has its original wax seal that is visible when the back part of the bronze relic is removed. it is a bit worn and cracked but extremely old. the relic has the name of the saint written on a very small piece of paper and has a piece of real skin and linen backing under the glass. the casing is completely handmade and hammered from bronze and has a circular hook at the top to be able to wear as a charm. it has a wonderful patina from age and measures 1 1/8 inches by 3/4 inches. there are some very small dings but is very old. I purchased a bunch of these with an estate clean out of an elderly priest. I know NOTHING on the subject so please ask me any and all questions PRIOR to bidding. I will not disclose information on the gentleman as requested by the family at the time of purchase. I have sold a bunch of these that had come with paperwork documentation some in this lot. Do not have papers, I am assuming that during the cleanout, they were mistakenly thrown out He was a hoarder and things were placed in dumpsters prior to my arrival. Anthony Gianelli grew up in a poor but pious family in a small farming village near Genoa. Italy. The owner of his family farm paid for Anthony's seminary education because he was such a promising student. He was very young for ordination and required a special dispensation, however he was ordained in 1812 and served as a parish priest, and eventually founded several religious communities, some of them short-lived. Antique german wax religious reliquary pilgrimage wachstock work of monks
This is a traditional German wachsstock. They are a wax sculpture made in the late 1800s usually completely of wax. This piece is so unique and detailed. I have seen many of these but never with the Baby Jesus with the glass top. These pieces are monastery works. They would make these and sell them as souveinir pieces from pilgrimages. This is from the Bavarian region I believe. Some are more detailed than others. This one has lots of detail. It is in good shape, I would say excellent but there is one tiny piece of broken filigree on top area, that looks like gold lace. Its so amazing to know that these were made by hand over a hundred years ago by Monks who were passionate about their work. The Jesus is in infant style and holding a tiny crucifix in his hand. There is a glass type covering over him. The pink that he is surrounded by under ... morethe glass is so lovely and looks great against the gold filigree type design that surrounds the glass. RELIQUARY RELIC WAX SEAL ANTIQUE BOX WITH MULTIPLE CHRISTIAN LABELED RELICS
This early reliquary has multiple labels inside but I am not an epert so I can't read them. The glass has been broken on this early piece and three decorative bone pieces will need to be reglued into place. I found this as it is. And am passing it on as it is. There is a wax seal on the back that has never been broken. there is some damage to the frame as can be seen in the pictures. Please look closely at all images. I am selling this item at no reserve as shown. There are woven metallic pieces inlaid and beautiful accents in this shadowbox. It is not in perfect condition, but it is gorgeous. The outer frame measuements are 12 3/4" high and 11 1/4" wide.

You are bidding on a bronze Thames River found Agnus Deis Bishops seal ring with a lamb bearing a cross and flag impression; with Latin lettering around the circumference. It is in a USA size 8. This ring has been professionally cleaned of encrustations; and was acquired from an old UK collection. Historical Significance: Lamb of God(Latin: Agnus Dei) is a title for Jesus that appears in the Gospel of John. It appears at John 1:29. Where John the Baptist sees Jesus and exclaims, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Although"Lamb of God" refers in Christian teachings to Jesus Christ in his role of the perfect sacrificial offering. Christological arguments ... moredissociate the term from the Old Testament concept of a"scapegoat, which is a person or animal subject to punishment for the sins of others without knowing it or willing it.
