This is a nicely restored Western Electric 211 with a 634BA ringer subset. All parts are dated 1948. The transmitter, receiver, and 5H dial are all stamped 3/48, internal mechanism 1/48, although the porcelain dial plate is dated fourth quarter 47 it's consistent with the assembly of plate and dial mechanism being assembled in 1948. Rings and works nicely. Original cloth cord on the handset, reproduction cloth cord to ringer box. has nice long line cord with modular plug and is ready to plug in and use. 1902 Telephone Inventor THOMAS A WATSON Signed Deed Fore River Shipyard Quincy Original quitclaim deed for the sale of a parcel of land in Braintree. Massachusetts, signed by Thomas A. Watson and his wife Elizabeth, more than 110 years ago. This piece of land conveyed in this deed had been property owned by the Fore River Ship and Engine Building Company in Braintree before the yard moved downstream to its permanent location in Quincy. Massachusetts in 1901, a year before this deed was filed. The handwritten description spells out the precise location of the parcel, and the deed is dated and signed May 31, 1902. Thomas A. Watson is best known for working with Alexander Graham Bell during the development of the telephone. He was the man who heard the first words uttered on the telephone: Mr. Watson— Come here— I want to see you. Watson resigned ... morefrom the Bell Telephone Company in 1881 and two years later.
