This is a gorgeous teapot set. Complete with teapot, creamer, sugar, 5 teacups and 6 saucers. It is marked handpainted Japan. This set belonged to my mother in law. It looks like a asian scene of trees, shrubs, fence a two homes. I was told it was Moriaga and the details are beautiful! The teapot measures 8 1/4" wide with spout and handle and measures 5 1/4" tall with lid. It has a tiny tiny chip on the bottom of the spout. Sugar bowl measures 6 1/2" wide with handles and 5 1/4" tall with lid. Creamer measures 4 3/4" wide with handle and 3 3/4" tall. Saucers measure 5 1/2" round and couple have a little gold wear on edges. The teacups measure 4" round and 2" tall. One teapcup has a spider crack inside but does not go thru. Staffordshire Luster Ware Teacups and Saucers - (Pink and Orange Styles) - Rare
This auction is for one pink and one orange lustreware teacup and saucer in the Gaudy Welsh style. The colors are vibrant and the designs are charming. Each teacup is approximately 3 3/4 inches wide by about 2 1/2 inches tall(not including the handles) And the saucers are about 5 3/4 inches wide and 1 inch high. These are very pretty examples of classic staffordshire style pink and orange lusterware and would be a great addition to someone's collection in a display cabinet(that is where my great grandmother used to keep these! Please see photos for close ups of hairline cracks and small indents/chip flaws- some of these flaws are from use and some from the manufacturing process. The pink saucer has one hairline crack that can be seen from both sides, and another that can only be seen on the underside of the saucer. The pink teacup also ... morehas a very minor hairline crack on the inside of the cup, and there is a hairline crack on the bottm of the handle. The orange saucer has a very minor hairline crack on the bottom underside of the saucer, and the top of the teacup is a scalloped shape/edge so there are some rough spots there- one or two very tiny chips, and some are manufacturing defects- the inside of the orange teacup has a blue stray paint mark under the glaze(see photos- again, a manufacturing defect) You do not notice these flaws when they are sitting in a display rack in a china cabinet- in fact. All these old luster ware pieces have many imperfections due to the primitive manufacturing processes employed where they were made in England in the 1800's- they really were hand made and hand painted by only reasonably/primitively skilled artisans, and that is what makes them so charming. The teapot has a very small chip/crack near the spout that's about a quarter of an inch long. And the teapot is missing a lid. The teacups are nearly flawless and have beautiful floral designs on them. The teacups are about 3 inches tall. This whole set was made in Japan. Antique Johnson Bros Old Britain Castles in Pink. There are 6 Teacups in all. One of the teacups is missing its' handle. There is crazing in all pieces. There are no cracks. They have Johnson Bros England engraved on the bottom of 3 of the cups and then the 3 other cups say ENGLAND BY on the bottom. These cups have two castles on them. On one side it shows Penshurst Kent in 1792 H FENNEL. The other castle says Stratford on Avon in 1792 H FENNEL. 3 of the cups have H Fennel on them and 3 of them do not. Crownford Art Deco circa 1935 Teacups & Saucer Set
2 teacups and 2 saucers marked Crownford Burslem Made in England on the bottom of each piece. Nice rich red color with white polkadots and gold lines. One teacup and saucer appear to have been used more than the other as some of the gold line along the inside top and along the base of the teacup is rubbed off(see photos) and the middle white section of one saucer is very slightly darkened and has a very small chip underneath the bottom edge(see photos) Other teacup& saucer look unused. No cracks or chips other than the one mentioned above; all have crazing. Overall they are in very good condition. These teacups are charming with a great shape and feel and would be fun to serve tea or coffee in.

I inherited many pieces of fine china from the Rosenthal Maria White collection from my grandmother and the china means a lot to me but I have so many pieces that many items just won't be used so I'd love to have someone else buy them where they will be used or collected. They are all stamped on the back and the type of stamp started to be used in 1953 and I know my grandmother purchased them in Germany before she moved to America so I'm dating all the pieces around 1960-1970.
