This is a wonderful all metal art sculpture sitting atop a solid wood base. I think this is a bass of some kind but I'm not a fisherman(woman) so. but the piece is great! Colorful and realistic. Nice accent. The top glass perc top is slightly broken where it goes into the top. But it still does not affect the usage or the look, but I felt that I should mention it. The size: 14 inches to the top of the handle and 9 inches diameter ball and 11 inches to the top of the ball. In my opinion. It is a magnificent piece of history and it still looks good today. Description This listing is for a gorgeous Kent Art Ware lamp in the shape of a woman's head. According to an excellent site we found on Kent Art Ware. This line of ceramics was made in Japan from approximately 1919 to 1940- the golden age of"Nippon" porcelain. This particular lamp is hard-to-find and very collectible. This lamp is 10.5" to the top of the head and 21" to the top of the harp. Although some figurines were later made into lamps. This is an original factory model lamp. The lamp is absolutely beautiful to look at. The design is true art deco with its overall creamy white glaze and clean lines. It is one of those pieces that the eye is continually drawn to. The end of one of the curls on the back has been broken off. Because the clay is the same creamy white as the glaze. They are of Mongo origin and moved to their new territory in the 18 th century where they became vassals of chiefs Luba(Samba) Bangubangu, and Hemba. Their chiefs come from patrilineal clans and govern with a council of notables and are assisted by ritual specialists. Their religion is a combination of Mongo and Luba believes. Mporo beads form a vertical row down the necklace's center. Samburu women began acquiring mporo beads(Venetian glass. Wound white-hearts) in the late nineteenth century, mostly from Somali and Arab traders. The necklace has changed over time with some much more contemporary today and made of doum palm fibers. Occasional giraffe hairs, which are strung through layers of mporo beads. Multiple layers of beaded fibers give the necklace its structure and fullness. Ideally. A Samburu woman is given her mporo necklace as a gift from her mother(with additional mporo beads from other female kin and friends) at her marriage.
