We are pleased to be offering today this what I believe they used to call a Victorian princess dresser. The reason why it was called that is that the ... moreover length mirror in the center allowed the lady of the house to see the full bustle of her dress. This one looks like an oversize drop center. Dating from the 1870s, it has burl panels all over, hand carved crest on the very top, five different style shapely mirrors, rose quartz on the drop center and two top columns, four small drawers, one large drawer on the base and a hidden drawer on the very bottom. The burl panels are all picture frame molded on the drawers and on the inside of the drop center. It has oversize candle shelves. In my over 50 years in the business, I don’t believe I have owned this model even though I have had my share of drop center dressers.

LATE 18TH CENTURY SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS CONVERTED EIGHT DRAWER UNIQUE CHIPPENDALE PERIOD MAPLE BRACKET BASED DRESSER With our highest compliments we are pleased to offer you this wonderfull eight drawer dresser in a side by side formated Chippendale period Southeasten Massachusetts maple chest on a finely formed bracket base. Dovetailed case and superbly formed crown molding. After careful examination and realizing there was no such animal as an eight drawer Chippendale period maple dresser. We wanted you to be fully aware of this issue and we are going to adjust its price as much as we can considering we paid strongly for this now extremely unique piece. ... moreIts secondary woods are constructed from pine, maple and chestnut. All the wood is period and comes from the original piece. This Circa 1780-1800 chest is 39" long, 19 3/4" wide(deep) and 36" tall. 18TH CENTURY 2 OVER 3 FORMAT QUEEN ANNE PERIOD PINE DRESSER ON BRACKET BASE
MID 18TH CENTURY QUEEN ANNE PERIOD BRACKET BASE TWO OVER THREE DRESSER IN PINE With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this fabulous mid 18th Century Queen Anne period pine chest in a two over three drawer format with period brasses and bracket base. This is a wonderful chest with complete structural correctness other than the expected and within acceptable standards of period furniture maintenance of a back leg bracing and some tiny additions to the very ends of the front bracket pine bracket footings. We speculate that the base of the pine brackets probably took a bit of dry rot over the last 250 + years and it was very carefully restored. Why a scrap board with green paint was used on a back brace? Its a Vermont thing with Yankee thrift! This comes from a Quechee. Vermont estate and the entire period furniture collection was wonderfully ... morepure and well maintained. The chest has a superbly executed top with large finely detailed dovetailed joinery along with the chests body and the single board dovetailed base. It is adorned with lovely Queen Anne period pinned brasses and just a super New England first half of the 18th Century 1740-1750's dresser. All its drawer actions are smooth and this is a fully functioning chest with all original back& chamfered drawer panels. The chest accented with fabulous molding and is 37 1/4" long, 19 1/4" wide and stands 37 1/2" tall. This true& pure Queen Anne period chest is a bit of an oddity and this was no doubt crafted in a hold over technique used in the pre dating William& Mary period New England furniture. Walnut was the most common wood used in Queen Anne period furniture construction in the American Colonies. Pine cases are evidence of the most earliest periods in the Queen Anne furniture and decorative arts movement in America. When we initially encountered this chest we speculated it was a William& Mary chest with an excellent period modification from ball feet to a bracket base. After we got it on its back we discovered that

This is simply one of the very finest of these specimens we have had the pleasure of selling in a very long time. Often refereed to as"Maine Mahogany" in the trade this dresser is just the finest possessing a dovetailed bracket base with Cupid's Bow cut outs on each side. A dovetailed joined case, what appears to be original brasses, molded graduated drawers, old growth native pine chamfered secondaries and a cleaned original finish. What we mean by the later is the original finish was rubbed down with ... morea mild alcohol based solvent versus the dramatic effect of it being subject to a chemical stripping and sanding. The varnishes would dramatically oxidize and smoother out the aesthetic effect of the wood's figured birch ornamentation. We found it charming that the old tin and wire mesh were left on the dresser. This was done to keep mice out of the case. From the overhung top to the crisp precise bracket base this dresser possesses excellent scale and proportions. The dresser is 39" long, 17 1/2" in width and 37 3/4" tall. It is as solid and tight as the day it was made with all the drawers having a nice crisp action.
