It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. Up for auction is an Antique Vintage Wood Leather Traveling Chest circa late 1700’s. The chest is made out of wood. Was once covered in cow hide(most of which has worn off) and has leather hinges. It measures 17.5 inches long x 10 inches wide x 7.5 inches high and has a metal clasp/ lock(with no key) The top part of the lock is no longer attached to the lid. The handle on the top is also missing. The inside of the chest is lined with newspaper which has a date of Tuesday. April 1, 1794 from the Catskill Packet. The chest was purchased from an estate sale and I have no further information or back ground on it. Shipping includes insurance.

A real antique treasure. Paper lining lid 1826(has ad for the sale of a slave) A sad part of our country's heritage. It also has a loose newspaper from 1924. The trunk is much older than the paper. I think it is from the 1700's or before. I can't remember anymore although it is very very early. It came out of the Pennsylvania area. We took this trunk to antiques road show in Milwaukee several years ago and one of the twins said its value was $500.00. We had to wait in line for 7 hours. We won't be doing that again. I purchased it in the 70's and paid $500.00. We were celebrating our 200 year as a country. At Christmas I used it with antique toys and Christmas decorations. It was a fun piece to own.
