It has four dove tail drawer going down the left-hand side and four going down the right-hand side. The center drawer has round dove tail as expected from the Eastlake era. It has burl walnut trim on the fronts with an ogee bevel edge around the routed top. It has a black felt interior on the writing surface that is nice. The finish on the sides is amazing. It has panel sides, rope twisted molding, detail cast brass hardware, escutcheons are intact. There are no keys or locks. The desk is 48 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 30 inches tall. The space for your legs is 19 inches by 25 inches.

It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. The desk rests over four tapered and stop-fluted legs with square brass caps over each leg and terminating in plain brass capped feet. Jacques Bodart. Inc. crafted very fine reproductions of Louis XVI 18th and 19th Century antique furniture, marketing these to interior designers and decorators around the country from their showroom in New York City. This is a simply outstanding selection, only more so due to the fine patina and character developed throughout, perfect for home decorators and those passionate about original French designs. Measurements: 55 1/8" wide x 28 1/4" deep x 30" high; wings are 12 3/4" across when fully extended. 21 5/8" deep. Condition Report: Nice patinated and almost certainly original surface. Sunbleached on the front and sides, color well preserved in the back. Very minor dings and abrasions here and there throughout, including minor blemishes and stains to the leather top. No key. Authentic Baker Walnut French Writing Desk. Louis XV. Baker verified.
I have confirmed with my antiques consultant who spoke with someone in Baker(Kohler) directly who gave me the following information about this table. I will reproduce it verbatim: This is a 5421 desk that was made sometime in the late 1970's or early 1980's. The wood is walnut. It was part of a small collection of Louis XV occasional designs. The walnut has a magnificent polished sheen to it. Which is in excellent condition. It is surprisingly heavy for its size and weighs in at about 60lbs. It is finished on all four sides and doesn't have a back per se, so you could put this against a wall or in an open room/against a mirror and still have it look amazing. The only condition issues I have noticed are that the pull out table supports are missing their pieces of veneer. And this can be seen in the pictures. I have the veneer from ... morethe right side because it just fell off but the left side veneer is missing. Also. The upper center box is missing its knob. The veneer and knob are cheap fixes. The rest of the desk is in great shape. It was dusty but a simple wipe down(without oil or any abrasive cleaners) showed its beautiful and deep shine. This was sourced from an estate auction from a very wealthy European homeowner's personal items. It has brass accents throughout and a brass galley around the top. Brass tacks and nails abound. Get a knob and fix the small veneer issues visible in the picture and it is good as new. Has a wood inlay on the table top, which gives a very inviting two tone patterned appearance. This will be a local pick up only auction or ship at your own risk(you set it up) auction. Once your shipment company or shipping agent picks this up. It is 100% yours without returns offered under any circumstances. Qualified buyers can see the piece before bidding if they like.
