This is a miniature Lane Cedar Chest that measures 8.75 x 4.75 x 3.25 inches that evidently was designed for giving to a boy on graduation day. Or else for a basketball playing girl. It is stamped inside the lid"Sports Box By Lane" and on the base"C, 1996 The Lane Company, All Rights Reserved" If you are familiar with these small size Lane chests, you will remember how graduating high school girls, as far back as the 1930's or 40's, would be invited to go to their local furniture stores and pick up their graduation gift from Lane.a cedar chest for saving trinkets, jewelry, and mementos. I received one when I graduated back in the 1960's. This is an unusual one that you hardly ever see. The basketball court is painted on the lid in black, green, and brown. It would be a wonderful graduation gift for a son or ... moredaughter who plays basketball. The box has very little wear.a few pencil marks inside the box as if someone stored pencils in it. The few nicks in the wood are under the stain so must have been a natural part of the wood and not damage to the box. It no longer has the key and would be a great gift for graduation.

Vintage Lane Miniature Cedar Chest. This one is marked Presented By- ROGERS- FURNITURE STORE- This was a furniture store founded in Provo Utah in 1921 and went out of business in 1963 due to a fire. This particular chest shows minor to bigger scuffs in certain areas on top is has small scuffs/scratches. In the bottom is has marker printing. Please see Picture It states someone's name" Pauline H.Dysart 1929(Larson) And under that is says Auc. School. Can't make the other words. Very old box in great condition sturdy wise. Everything is still intact. These were given out with keys. To able to lock this small chest, Key not included! Another writing indication inside the box stating a certain month and year.
