But here's their streamlined story with the pertinent parts for a mid-century fan: Founded in 1906 by Virginia tobacco producers, American of Martinsville furniture line consisted of only bedroom furniture. In the early 1920s the company added dining room furniture and began to expand its offerings through a number of diverse styles. With products in almost every design, the company continued to expand its offerings to cover the living room, in both wood and upholstered furniture. Mahogany or walnut wood frame and has just come back from the refinisher in a satiny gloss off-white or ivory color. The ebonized- black painted raised pedestal base has brass foot caps/tips and styled in the manner of Dunbar for Edward Wormley. The big surprise is the interior of the drawers- they have been color-matched painted the iconic Tiffany& Co. robins-egg blue! Such a lovely and happy detail that I'm sure will delight. Item Description: Up for purchase is this HUGE vintage 78” long all OAK 9 drawer Dresser/Commode produced by RomWeber in the Mid Century. They are known for their high level of old-world craftsmanship, and this piece is completely evident. The cabinet piece weighs close to 300 lbs with the curved front drawers in it and the mirror another 50 lbs. Refinished and offered on 1st Dibs or placed through and East/West Coast Interior Decorator. This would be a $6,500 ensemble. This is NOT a piece which started out at white. And has faded or been smoked around, it retains its original finish which is marked on the back side as“Golden Glo 120” It’s an AMAZING piece and would be appropriate for a grand home both in the master suite. Or even in the dining room or a large hall/ parlor. All angles of this piece has rounded elements to it. Hollywood Regency French Provincial Dresser Chest Night Stand Mid Century Pair
Thank You For Looking! This is a pair of Mid Century Modern Retro Vintage French Provincial Off Whitish with a bit of gold trim dressers. Small chest of drawers or even nice large bed side tables. They are in very good original condition. They are 30 3/4 tall and 33 1/2 wide by 16 3/4 deep. The top measures 34 by 17 3/4. They have the formica type or a super high gloss finish like formica on the top that is very easy to wipe off. It is a very sturdy set and the only real issue is a scuff on front of a top and bottom drawer on the one on the right in the photo's, and the feet have a bit of looks like vacuum cleaner rubs. Drawers work nice a smooth. They have a little bit of expected use showing but nothing really to mention and it is just normal wear. I do not see any name anywhere so not sure of maker. Please enlarge photo's for good ... morelook. Really just a great vintage set that is in very good used condition. I also have a desk that matches these tables that I can list. Originally as Albert Grosfeld, Inc. the company imported and manufactured fine furniture which they sold exclusively through the interior design trade from their showrooms in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. This dresser was part of a Hollywood Regency style collection manufactured by the company in 1948 and attributed to Vladimir Kagan who designed for the firm. By then known as Grosfeld House, at the time. It is lovely and unique. Made of teak and sitting atop a shapely plinth base, the double set of drawers(six drawers in all) are accented by a curved and framed facade raised to serve as the drawer"pulls. Solidly built during the 1950's by the Red Lion Furniture Manufacturers, Red Lion, PA. Made of solid cherry, mahogany or walnut wood frame. The leg style is designed in the manner of Gilbert Rohde/ Saltman but with a slight classical& asian twist seen in the eclectic Hollywood Regency style of Draper& Mont. The craftsmanship is truly amazing with dovetail& dowel joinery rather than the typical glue& nail construction found in new pieces. The best part are the patinaed brass handles& pulls which are a very unique shape and naturally antiqued finish. There are three drawers and two doors that reveal an additional three drawers for ... morea total of SIX drawers. All of the upper drawers have divider.s The doors in the front are not warped. They are intentionally con-caved, giving it a truly midcentury look. The piece is in its' original stain showing the amazing wood flame grain detail on these doors. Due to its age, it will have the appropriate wear in the typical areas but nothing significant. I would consider the condition to be very good to excellent pre-owned condition.
