Both solid walnut& solid walnut veneers, the back is pine. I restored the finish on the back so it can be shown if desired The inside of the chest is lined in cedar. There are a few small nicks in the cedar The lid will stay open in a hands free position The bronzed push button lock is new& works perfectly.key is included I removed the damaged skirt trim boards which were under the bottom of the chest and installed the retro looking polished chrome feet I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed varnish, showcasing the rich walnut wood.you will love the feel of this silky hand rubbed finish& the walnut grains. The finish is highly water resistant Notice the incredible carefully selected grain patterns on the top The patina of the wood is beautiful including some nick. Scratches& imperfections in the wood prior to restoring the finish The lower left side panel has a slight curve along the bottom edge. You would never notice it unless I pointed it out! 1963 Lane Blanket Hope Storage Trunk Chest Danish Modern Cedar Mid Century
Danish modern style cedar chest by Lane in excellent condition. This mid century modern style blanket chest is completely cedar lined. Stands on sturdy walnut peg legs with brass caps, has a bottom pullout drawer and is totally original, excellent with just a couple small nicks. Outside measurements are 18 by 40 and stands 20 high. The top and outside finishes are walnut solids and veneers. Note the date stamp: for those who do not know. All vintage Lane products denote there date or manufacture with the serial number. backwards, in this case Aug 21, 1963. It stands on Danish style peg legs. Lane cedar chest in excellent condition with all original paperwork. Lock is intact and I have the key, as well. Mid century styling, clean lines and gorgeous piece. Vintage Mid Century 2 Door Maple Cedar Cabinet Chest Trunk By LANE c1955
This is a beautiful mid century maple two door cedar cabinet by Lane dated November. 1955. PLEASE NOTE: the pictures were taken in bright sunlight and came out a bit too light and orange in color.the cedar cabinet has a warm maple tone and is slightly darker than shown. The cabinet features shutter and paneled style doors with brass pulls that open to a solid cedar interior. The interior has two quality sliding beveled drawers with side handles. I have seen these sliding drawers on previous listings but they were just flat(no sides) and did not have the design and quality that these do. This would be great for sweaters. Blankets, etc. This heavy cabinet measures 34" by 17" and stands 31 1/2" tall and is in excellent condition for its age with minimal wear. This is a beautiful genuine antique Lane brand cedar lined hope chest which belonged to my grandmother. She was given this as a 9th grade graduation gift in 1952 from her mom and dad. I do not know the actual date of manufacturing only the year she was given it. According to the product information given below and the serial number. The date of manufacturing is 08/02/50. The color is a beautiful medium brown and made out of solid cedar wood and veneer on the outside and brown stain finish. This chest is very secure and sturdy. Lane is an American company that makes high quality products. Item Info- Style No 2525-M Serial No 052080 Lane Altavista. Va REG. U.S. PAT. OFF Approx. Measurements- outside: 47" long/wide ... more18 1/2" Deep 22 1/2" Tall Inside: 44 3/8" wide 16 1/4 deep 12" tall Felt lined compartments: 20 11/16" wide left 20 3/4" wide right 7 7/16" deep 1 3/4" tall Lock works and comes with original key. It has been cleaned and oiled to make sure that it worked perfectly. The lock has been removed carefully as to not damage it and will be given with the chest.
