IL- ... moreFar west Chicago suburbs) UP FOR AUCTION: A gorgeous. Vintage, Art Deco, walnut waterfall-style cedar-lined blanket or hope chest. Elegant contrasting veneer inlay work on front center. It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit of veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. The buyer, if he/she desires a working lock, can probably purchase one through ebay or vi

1963 Lane Blanket Hope Storage Trunk Chest Danish Modern Cedar Mid Century
Danish modern style cedar chest by Lane in excellent condition. This mid century modern style blanket chest is completely cedar lined. Stands on sturdy walnut peg legs with brass caps, has a bottom pullout drawer and is totally original, excellent with just a couple small nicks. Outside measurements are 18 by 40 and stands 20 high. The top and outside finishes are walnut solids and veneers. Note the date stamp: for those who do not know. All vintage Lane products denote there date or manufacture with the serial number. backwards, in this case Aug 21, 1963. It stands on Danish style peg legs. OOAK Vintage Child's Handmade Solid Cedar Hump Dome Chest Trunk Dolls Bears
Wonderful vintage. Hand-made solid cedar dome top/ hump back storage chest or train trunk. This vintage chest is handmade of ¾” solid cedar and smells wonderful when you open it. It weighs in at around 12 lbs. unboxed. Has a pieced, domed lid with two handles that are screwed in on either side to make it easy to carry. It has two gold-tone hinges on the backside and measures 18” long x 14” wide x 12.5” high at the very top of the domed lid. The lid itself is made with 14 separate pieces of hand-beveled cedar pieces, secured with small finishing nails in order to form the domed lid. This is a beautiful mid century maple two door cedar cabinet by Lane dated November. 1955. PLEASE NOTE: the pictures were taken in bright sunlight and came out a bit too light and orange in color.the cedar cabinet has a warm maple tone and is slightly darker than shown. The cabinet features shutter and paneled style doors with brass pulls that open to a solid cedar interior. The interior has two quality sliding beveled drawers with side handles. I have seen these sliding drawers on previous listings but they were just flat(no sides) and did not have the design and quality that these do. This would be great for sweaters. This classic Chest is in good original condition, and it has a medium/dark red/brown stain finish, see pictures. This Chest has a beautiful Veneer design on the surface. UP FOR CONSIDERATION: The Commodore Collection by Rosalco Cedar Chest Cedar Lined Inside with plenty of room- Inside measurements are 40 1/2" x 13 1/2 deep x 14" tall Has a non locking Lid that is supported by one Locking Hinge on the left side. Features 5- 3" Pulls with Back Plates on the front for decorative purposes only. Unfortunately the owner's dog chewed one side corner(see picture) This can be repaired however I will leave that option to the new owner. The top measures 44" x 15 3/4" Overall Height is 24" with 8 3/4" Tall Legs. There are scratches on the top which can be covered and some minor dings on the front base along with a 1/4" paint mark. Lane Cedar Chest Item in pictures is actual item being sold in current condition. This is for a Lane brand Cedar Hope Chest. This is a beautiful genuine antique Lane brand cedar lined hope chest which belonged to my grandmother. She was given this as a 9th grade graduation gift in 1952 from her mom and dad. I do not know the actual date of manufacturing only the year she was given it. According to the product information given below and the serial number. The date of manufacturing is 08/02/50. The color is a beautiful medium brown and made out of solid cedar wood and veneer on the outside and brown stain finish. This chest is very secure and sturdy. Lane is an American company that makes high quality products. Item Info- Style No 2525-M Serial No 052080 Lane Altavista. Va REG. U.S. PAT. OFF Approx. Measurements- outside: 47" long/wide ... more18 1/2" Deep 22 1/2" Tall Inside: 44 3/8" wide 16 1/4 deep 12" tall Felt lined compartments: 20 11/16" wide left 20 3/4" wide right 7 7/16" deep 1 3/4" tall Lock works and comes with original key. It has been cleaned and oiled to make sure that it worked perfectly. The lock has been removed carefully as to not damage it and will be given with the chest. Just separately, because the lock was recalled for safety reasons for it will automatically latch when closed being a hazard to children. In good condition with moderate wear.
