Antique Staffordshire pottery Babes in the Woods relief molded jug pitcher
Antique Staffordshire relief molded(moulded) jug pitcher. Appx. 7 1/2" tall, with high relief decoration commonly referred to as"Babes in the Woods. The wood-like background on the front. And the ornate foliage-only design on the back, is sometimes called"Oak. Items of this pattern were made by many makers throughout the early to mid-18th century, so they are difficult to attribute to a specific pottery unless marked. This sweet little pitcher must have been treasured, because it has an old mend where the handle was bolted back on after being broken off. However. I still think it desirable for display purposes, especially because the glaze is still so high and unworn. There is very little wear to the decoration. Except I think maybe the color is worn off the faces of the"Babes" I think maybe their cheeks were originally ... morepinker!

Antique Relief Molded Pitcher with Wheat Stalks Victorian Staffordshire Jug
Unmarked green PARIAN WARE PITCHER Not certain. But most likely made in the United Kingdom Pretty pattern with wheat stalks Poor condition. This has a large broken section that was riveted with copper staples. There are two large chips on the base. I find the repairs fascinating. So am selling this for someone interested in the art of repair. Staples were a common— and obvious— means of repairing damaged ceramics in the 19th century. Measures approximately 9 inches in height. 7 inches in diameter at its widest I offer Fed Ex Ground as an alternative shipping option. They are usually less expensive than the US Post Office. But please note that they will not deliver to a post office box number I

Mochaware Slip Decorated Milk Jug Pitcher with Foliate Handle Staffordshire 1840
800x600 Mochaware Slip Decorated Milk Jug Pitcher with Foliate Handle Staffordshire England 1840 This is a great early to mid 19th century mocha ware slip decorated milk jug with crisp bands of blue and brown against creamy earthenware with blue ponded glaze. This generous sized creamer stands 4 1/2” tall and measures 5 1/2" across. It has an applied incised handle with foliate terminals. The whole body is covered with transparent lead glaze with hints of blue to give it a slightly shiny but matte appearance. The jug is in very good overall condition with use wear consistent with age. An in the making firing flaw at the spout joint and another on the foot. Haphazardly made. Intended for utilitarian use and probably considered disposable. Large Staffordshire Copper Lustre Jug ~'FANCY' PAINTED DECORATION ~ c1840 NR
A Large English Pottery Staffordshire Copper Lustre Baluster Jug c1840 ~'Fancy' Five Color Folk Art Type Painted Decoration ~ 7 1/2" high ~ 9 1/2" across from handle to spout I can't help thinking this jug should have been used in Sumpter T. Priddy's book'American Fancy: Exuberance in the Arts. 1790-1840 because it has all the characteristics of'exuberant' decoration. It has the same spirit of painting that much mochaware was decorated with and this shape and size pitcher was also used on much mocha. I'm not sure the pink used here for the dots around the center was a sort of dusty rose pink or brighter; if it was brighter, the pigment has faded, which is sad as it doesn't stand out as much as the other colors. In excellent display condition; there is wear to the lustre and decoration and some ... moreminor enamel flaking. There is also fine surface wear especially around the belly. See the pics for closeups of that, but there is no major damage or restoration; the inside bottom may have been repainted a long time ago as it is matte and not smooth but there is no damage to the base. Despite the points of surface wear this has fantastic presence and color. Thanks for looking! No Reserve! Please see the other English/ Historical Staffordshire/ porcelain/ pottery/ soft paste/ pearlware/ creamware I have listed. On Aug-04-14 at 11:05:08 PDT. Seller added the following information: Adding one more photo that may show the size of the jug better.

Large Staffordshire Buff Ground Mask Spout Water Jug ~ Brown Transferware c1830
A Large Staffordshire Buff Ground Mask Spout Water Jug c1830 ~ Two Different Countryside Brown Transferware Prints ~ 7 1/4" high to top of handle ~ about 8" from spout to handle An attractive large bulbous water pitcher or jug with a realistically molded face mask at the spout. Printed with two large rural scenes on either side and trimmed in brown enamel. There is one spot of the glaze missing under the spout where you can see the original bisque pottery of the jug and see that the body is a sort of brown or tan color; the very glossy glaze turns it a yellowish buff color that is similar to yellowware but this has a much finer pottery body. In excellent condition and looks great on display; there is a very tight 1" hairline from the rim on the neck and the spout is rubbed and missing glaze at the edge(see closeup pic. The ... morefinal brown line of trim at the rim is painted over glaze and has flaking along the edge and there is overall fine crazing to the glaze. Despite those small flaws. This is a great jug. Thanks for looking. No Reserve! Please see the other English/ Historical Staffordshire/ porcelain/ pottery/ soft paste/ pearlware/ creamware I have listed.

It has an applied handle that is also painted with black designs. The rim is painted a brick red enamel. In good display condition; there is flaking to both the pink and green enamels on each of the flower paintings and the red enamel at the rim is worn. There is one fine hairline from the rim which goes down about 2 1/2" into the jug and the handle has some glaze wear along the edges. BEAUTIFULLY MADE AND DECORATED JUG/PITCHER, STAFFORDSHIRE, 1840's to 1880's
A VERY NICE JUG/PITCHER. VIBRANT AND INTACT COLORATION. PLEASE EXAMINE PHOTOS CAREFULLY AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. THE ONLY FLAWS THAT ARE NOT FROM THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS ARE SOME DISCOLORATION ON VARIOUS AREAS. SOME ROUGHNESS, TOO. THERE IS A TINY, TIGHT CRACK ON THE RIGHT TOP SIDE, AND SOME LOSS OF COLOR ON THE GREEN BAND ON THE RIM. THERE'S VERY LITTLE LOSS TO THE HOLLY DECORATION. THERE'S SOME CRAZING ON THE HANDLE. THIS PITCHER IS MARKED. BUT I HAVEN'T YET FOUND OUT THE MAKER. IF A VIEWER KNOWS WHOSE MARK IT IS, I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU. IT MEASURES ABOUT 7 3/4" TALL AT THE TOP OF THE SPOUT. VIEWING THE PHOTO OF IT BESIDE THE SOUP CAN GIVES YOU A VISUAL IDEA OF THE SIZE. AGAIN. FLAWS ARE BEST EXAMINED IN PHOTOS. SHIPPING IS TO CONTINENTAL USA ONLY. IF ACTUAL COSTS ARE A DOLLAR OR MORE OVER THE FIXED COST ... moreCHARGED. YOU WILL RECEIVE THAT AMOUNT IN REFUND. PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL IS DUE WITHIN 3 DAYS OF AUCTION END. RETURNS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. BUT OF COURSE, CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY IF THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT I NEED TO RESOLVE IN ORDER TO MAKE YOU A HAPPY BUYER. I MAINTAIN 100% POSITIVE, 5 STAR FEEDBACK, AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BUYER ASK TO RETURN AN ITEM. THANKS FOR LOOKING! I HAVE OTHER GREAT STUFF LISTED. AND HOPE YOU WILL CHECK THEM OUT, TOO.

1820s Staffordshire Pearlware Creamware Silver Lustre Jug NR
Fresh from a Fairfax County. Virginia, estate I am pleased to offer this 1820s Georgian Staffordshire jug or pitcher. The piece is Staffordshire and a creamware, thinly potted jug with black transfer and silver lustre decoration. The transfer depicts an English country estate. The pitcher measures approximately 5.5" tall and 6.5" in diameter(spout to handle) The condition overall is quite good. The silver lustre is in good shape; the black transfer is faded and worn from years of use. There are no cracks. There is a small place on the table rim that I would not describe as a chip. But looks like it has been hit hard through the years(see pic) along with a tiny glaze flake. There is a flea bite on the end of the handle. Please note I ship only within the continental USA. Check out my other auctions if you like nice old things from ... morethe Mid-Atlantic Region. Thank you.

The pitcher measures approximately 10.5" tall(to the top of the lip) and is in remarkably clean condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks or repairs and only a minor bit of discoloration to a small area of the interior bottom(see photo) It is a medium blue transfer depicting Greek ruins. The base is marked"Pantheon" and I believe it says Opaque China R&M. Please note I ship only within the continental USA.
