1800s Antique Pitcher Parian Porcelain lavender w/ornate white cameo relief
This stunningly beautiful. Antique Parian ware(bisque porcelain) pitcher has a lavender base color, with ornate, raised, white cameo-like designs on its outside surface. The design motifs are classical, and the style resembles Wedgwood's“jasperware” or early Copeland pieces, though the pitcher up for auction, here, has a gloss glaze, as opposed to a matte finish. The pitcher is unmarked, and though I have done some research, I have not been able to determine its maker. The pitcher's condition is remarkable. With no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. The only flaws, which are minor, occurred at the factory when the then liquified Parian porcelain was cast in the mold, and when the white, raised designs were applied, as one can see some tiny hairline breaks that have been glazed over. The pitcher measures about 8 ¼ inches tall ... morefrom its base to its highest point, which is on the handle, about 5 ½ inches across the opening from the handle to the end of the spout, and it has just under a 4 inch diameter across the footed base. This pitcher is exquisite, in color, design and condition. Please pay within 3 days after the auction has ended. And I will get your item to you as soon as possible. I do not accept returns, so to spare us any complications, please contact me if you have any questions, as I may have missed something that is important to you. Please v iew my photos and read my description as they are my honest attempt to give you all of the particulars about this“1800s Antique Pitcher. If you are happy with our transaction. Parian and earthenware at Cobridge and Burslem c. 1828-59, Staffordshire, England) High relief- molded figures around sides- one side features witch kneeling over cauldron- there are several figures on other side. Two men, mother and baby, girl, and dog- looks like they are in front of tent opening. Color is vintage white with gold trim. Impressed marking on bottom- it was not stamped cleanly. When magnified. I believe the mark says Published by S. Alcock& Co BURSLEM July 1, 1849. I think you can see this on the supersized close-up photo of mark. The previous owner attached a small adhesive sticker that also indicates Alcock July 1, 1849. There is an impressed number"12" at bottom ... moreof mark. Stands 7 1/8" tall to top of handle and 6 1/2" to top of spout. Measures 6 3/4" across from back of handle to front of spout. No chips or cracks found. I see some tiny ash colored specks on surface. Some minor roughness to a few of the raised edges, and a little wear to gold trim along rim edge. There is a little back& forth wiggle, pitcher does not sit perfectly flat on table surface. I have taken several photos and these provide additional description. For U.S. addresses. I will ship USPS or UPS Ground. For Canadian addresses, I will ship USPS Priority International. Antique Blue/White Floral Relief Large Oval Wash Basin & Pitcher, Gold Detail
This beautiful set is in very good condition with only one issue. See last pic, which seems to be a void or bubble burst rather than a chip. It is about 3/8" long. No other chips or cracks. It also has gold loss but, really, in wonderful condition. The mark is on both pieces, more pronounced on the basin, a crown with a ribbon below, the ribbon with the letters MC. I was not able to find this mark. Size: basin 18 × 14 × 2 1/2; pitcher 12 x 10 w/handle.
