Antique English Pearlware Ceramic enamel decorated pottery milk jug, c1800-1820
Antique English Pearlware Ceramic Polychrome overglaze enamel decorated pottery milk jug with an Oriental lady walking in a garden. On one side, and foliate design on the other. The decoration is in vibrant pink, green, blue and iron red. The pitcher has a sparrow spout and a simple looped handle both are enamel decorated, the handle with an iron red foliate design. The foot is rimmed in blue. c1800-1820. There are no factory or maker's marks but this milk jug is most likely from the Leeds Pottery. CONDITION: Minor glaze wear. No restoration. Measurements: 5 1/2" tall and 5" wide. A little background on Pearlware Josiah Wedgwood has traditionally been given the credit for"creating" what he referred to as"pearl ware. This ware was essentially the same ceramic composition as creamware with the added component of ... morea small quantiry of cobalt. The addition of the cobalt. Gave the pottery a bluish cast to the glaze. Pearlware was used as the base for Prattware, Spatter and Spongeware, Luster, and many transfer-printed wares. Because in some cases, the quantity of cobalt is truly slight, it can be difficult to determine whether or not the piece is pearlware. If you are ever faced with this situation, just turn the piece over and look for the blue pooling; identifiying the cobalt blue glaze over the whitish body is regarded as the single most important diagnostic feature. The earliest forms of Pearlware are dated to around 1775. Please let us know if you have any questions. And. If you are ever in the Wilton, CT area, we would love to have you visit our shop. We are located at 228 Danbury Rd(route 7) right next door to the Wilton Historical Society. 1905 Larkin Buffalo Pottery Antique Semi Vitreous Cobalt blue Geranium Milk Jug
Welcome to my ebay store! From my antiques collection I am offering this gorgeous Semi-Vitreous Cobalt Blue milk pitcher in the Geranium pattern made by the Buffalo Pottery Company of the US in circa 1900. The pattern is Geraniums. This pitcher came from a Pennsylvania home. Condition Report: Excellent. Notes: The pitcher is 7 1/2" from handle to spout. 6" wide and 6" tall. What a beautiful piece for a flow blue/ floral or just cobalt blue collection or blue color scheme. One actual factory type flaw on side, see all pics, it is actually a bit of ceramic on surface. I am not messing with that in any way! Buffalo Pottery was named for it's city of origin. Buffalo, New York. It was established in 1901 by the Larkin Soap Company. The pottery was originally conceived to produce a marketing line for Larkin that would increase ... moretheir soap sales, in addition to other items including furniture. The Buffalo Pottery prospered and produced many different kinds of pottery for commercial use as well as art pottery. This beautiful chintz transfer was named the"Geranium" pattern and could be purchased with soap wrappers and a small additional charge from the Larkin Soap Catalog from 1905 to 1910. The all-over cobalt blue and white decorations on this jug/pitcher consists of geraniums and their leaves. The piece was also made with multicolor decoration. Marked on the bottom is"Semi-Vitreous- Buffalo Pottery- warranted underglaze" and the geranium leaf design. I also own a larkin ladies desk that I purchased in NY in the early 1980's that was purchased originally the same way-the lady traded in her soap labels and purchased the beautiful oak desk that sits in my guest bedroom today. I also own a set of 6 Larkin pressed back cane oak dining chairs that no doubt were purchased with the Larkin soap labels! Interested buyers for the set of 6 larkin dining chairs can contact me. But they will be only for local pickup in Colorado) Some more info from Kovels: Buffalo Pottery was made in Buffalo.

Antique Spongeware Pottery 7 1/2" Milk? Pitcher or Jug Brown & Blue Mottled
Antique Spongeware Pottery 7 1/2" Milk? Pitcher or Jug Brown& Blue Mottled Here is an old large spongeware milk pitcher in light shades of brown with mottled blue. About 7" wide from handle to widest part of the jugs body. MD buyer pays 6% sales tax. Please pay by PAYPAL. International shipping determined by location. If you are an international bidder email me for a quote. Do not pay the ebay generated invoice as the shipping is usually TOO HIGH. I will send you an invoice. Foreign buyers need to email me in advance to find out the shipping cost. Obviously I cannot ship to a foreign country as reasonably as to the U.S. International Buyers Please Note: Import duties. Taxes, and charges ... moreare not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. I will combine items to save on shipping. Thanks for your interest! Please look at all my auctions. I pack to the best of my ability(see my feedback comments) I welcome any questions that you might have! A word about shipping: shipping involves a lot more than postage or UPS charges. We have labels. Boxes, packing materials and a"longer than most" trip to the Post Office or UPS. We are very rural and the post office and UPS will not pick up our packages. So we have 10 miles every shipping day and if a buyer pays, we ship IMMEDIATELY, even if their package is the ONLY one to be shipped. We do not over charge for shipping, but sometimes if you are a lot closer than we estimated your shipping expense may be less. Please ask if you think the shipping shown in the auction is too much based on your location, and we will give you an individualized quote. If you live close by you can even pick up! Any questions? Email us through ebay messaging.

Victorian Antique Pottery Milk Jug Pitcher Green Man Spout Pictorial Relief
Scroll down for more photos! This milk or cream pitcher/jug dates to early Victorian times. Made of fine pottery it is glazed white(stained) on the inside and a light tan tint on the outside. The main decoration is molded in relief. On either side is a vignette of laborers taking a break. The spout features a nicely molded“green man” mask. In addition there are swirls and flourishes of organic inspiration. The pitcher stands a bit more than 6” to the top of the spout. The body is about 3 ¼” across(5 ¼” spout to handle) Filled to overflowing it holds about 14 fl.oz. It is in very good condition– one tiny fleabite at the very tip of the spout. This is a really early pitcher by a southern company just prior to the Civil War. For it's age. It is in remarkable condition. The monk eating at his table appears to be a transfer decoration(not hand-painted) and is only on one side. There are NO CRACKS and only 2 small chips, one on the inside and the other on the outside. ANTIQUE FRENCH POTTERY MILK JUG WITH COMBED BASE, CIRCA 1840
Here I am offering out of my antique collection a lovely old french Milk Jug. Circa 1840. I purchased this jug from an antique dealer about 20 years ago and it has given me much pleasure to display it in my cabinet. I know nothing more about it than what the tag says, Milk Jug(combed base) c.1840. I bought it because I loved it and knew it would look wonderful on display. It has, but now I am at the point in my life that it is time to scale down on my possessions. It has a combed bottom, as the tag says which can give someone a clue as to the exact age of this piece. Clearly it was used often, as you can see the char marks on the bottom where in came in contact with fire. I was told by the dealer that it is c.1840, which is what the card says, and she brought it back from the south of France personally on one of her many European trips. Despite ... morethe few"Imperfections" I had mentioned previously, it is a lovely piece and they add to the beauty of the piece rather than take away from it. Although you can't see in the picture, the front has a lovely design painted on it and glazed into it. The size is 5" tall by 5-3/8" wide. I will include the original card from the antique shop from which I bought it. It comes from a smoke free home so. BID WITH CONFIDENCE!MI have a 100% positive feedback! WILL SHIP ONLY WITHIN THE UNITED STATES. `4`.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d71f%2B%3E%604%60-14b80c9bcf1-0x114-

1880-1900c. Antique Trilby Pottery Hand Painted Ironstone Milk Pitcher
This Trilby maker mark is a mystery to me. I've done extensive research and can find neither an American company nor English company with this name. Based on the design of the ironstone pattern and handpainting I am judging this to be a late 1800s piece. It does lack crazing which is either a sign of very good care or it could have been made in England. The pitcher is in very good condition no chips. No cracks, and no discoloration. The handpainted floral motif is also in very good condition. There is a very small spot of light wear towards the bottom(see photos) There is also some wear to the gilding from use. If anybody has any knowledge of the Trilby maker mark and the approximate time or country of manufacture for this pitcher I would appreciate an email so I can update this listing with more detailed information.
