Description: Beautiful antique Victorian majolica gurgling fish pitcher/ jug/ vase. Interior glazed in that wonderful mauve color common to Victorian majolica. An estate item. Helpfully labeled at the bottom by one of the heirs as GRANDPA GRUBER'S FROM THE CAMP(which seems a great place to decorate with a gurgling fish vase) with"MAJOLICA" written in a felt-tip marker(which can be removed fairly easily; it's on top of the glaze) In very good to excellent condition. With faint crazing visible on close inspection, appropriate to majolica of this age, but no chips, cracks or damage. Measures 9 1/2" high and 5" wide at widest point; the base is 3 1/4" diameter. This unique vintage piece is shaped like an egg with a textured iridescent finish. Jagged edges to the top opening, beautiful applied pink roses with gold highlights and trim, a triple footed base. And an unusual handle on the end. It measures 4 1/2" tall not counting the handle(or 4 7/8" tall to the top of its handle) By just under 7" long from handle to opposite end, by a little over 2 1/2" wide. It still has its original Wheelock Peoria Made in Japan foil label on the bottom. It is in very good condition. And has no chips or cracks. LARGE Antique Vintage Green Ceramic Pottery Pitcher Vase Jug Straw Covering
This is a MASSIVE unmarked ceramic/pottery piece in the shape of a pitcher. It is painted with a green glaze. The body of the jug and the bottom is wrapped in thin sheaves of straw that are also painted green. And there is wear to the gree paint on the straw. There is crazing to the ceramic, but no chips or cracks. There is a straw braid around the handle and top part of the pitcher. it is a wonderful decorative piece, and likely has a good deal of age to it, but I am not able to place its origin.
