Antique 1800's Mason's Ironstone 6" Staffordshire Transferware Milk Pitcher 28oz
This is a Mason's mid 19th century milk pitcher produced in Staffordshire England. This pitcher is from the estate of an affluent New York farm family who had worked and lived on this property since the 1850's. The pitcher has an eight sided or octagon shape with a deep blue transferware pattern over opaque white ironstone. The bottom of this pitcher is entirely flat with no rims. The pitcher is completely covered inside and out with a glossy finish including the entire bottom. The glossy finish appears to have been brushed on the base as opposed to the rest of the pitcher. The solid handle was applied to the pitcher at some point in the making. The pitcher has a rural scenic design along with very attractive leaves and flowers surrounding the top rim. The leaf pattern around the top is identical to the one used on their Vista pattern. ... moreThe rest of the pattern is absolutely gorgeous. I have not found another pitcher like it. The handle is in the form of a snake. This pitcher has an early. Simple mark on it's base. This under glaze deep blue inky makers mark reads"MASON'S" over a crown, and underneath reads"PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA" in a banner. Variations of this mark were used from the 1820's up until it became law in 1890 to identify the country of origin at which time England was added. This appears to be a very early mark. I have taken several pictures for your better understanding. I will be very happy to answer any questions you might have. As to the condition; This piece is in outstanding condition. It was only owned by one family and was well cared for. There are no chips. Cracks or damage of any kind. There is a slight yellowing on the bottom of the base. It measures just over 6" high. From front to back with the handle it measures 5 1/4" Without the handle it measures about 5" across. The pitcher holds 28 ounces comfortably. We pack everything very carefully. Circa 1887 Antique Victorian White Ironstone Pitcher Transferware Jasmine Motif
For sale is an antique ironstone pitcher with ribbed upper band. Spout, and lower four corners. The pitcher is decorated front and back with a design called Jasmine, which was registered in 1887. It stands 7 3/8" at its tallest, 7" from tip of spout to outer edge of handle, and 4" deep. The pitcher is marked: Jasmine R. No. 75878 T.G. F.P. I think.it's very hard to read) There also is an old raised diamond-shape mark-not filled in, a stamped 3, and three incised letters that look like FCP. I have not been able to identify this maker, but I do believe it to be English. The pitcher is in very good condition: No chips or breaks. There's a tiny hairline where the handle attaches at the top and it looks like someone might have used a bit of glue in the seam between the handle and the pitcher; there are a couple of tiny pits ... morein the glaze; and the bottom rim is rough from many decades of sitting on hard surfaces. All-in-all in very good condition for its age. We have a smoke and perfume free environment. CONDITION NOTE: All of our items are vintage or antique. 1847 ANTIQUE MULBERRY Transferware BOCHARA IRONSTONE DECORATED WATER PITCHER
This is a gorgeous MULBERRY transferware water pitcher made in the 1840's. It is large. Standing 12" tall and 8" at the widest point. The mulberry color is almost black on the base. The bottom has James Edwards impressed. This picture was made in Burlsem England and is in an oriental design with persons on a bridge and with lovely bunches of flowers. An interesting fact is that the pitcher was purchased on Ebay sometime in the past as it has an Ebay receipt inside that shows the local person who bought it paid $265.00. There is no date on the receipt. The pitcher has an old crack in the base of the handle that is starting to discolor. I have pictured this. WOW! Beautiful Antique Victorian Edwardian Art Nouveau Style Large Ironstone Ceramic Porcelain Pitcher and Basin- Made by F Winkle and Co England. It is marked" Whieldon Ware Kelvin" on the bottom- This is amazing. It is multi colored or Polychrome. Transfer ware Printed, main colors are green and white with yellow and shades of pink- I can't find any damage. No chips or lines or crazing. Some of the gold is still visible. Victorian Brown Transfer Printed Ironstone Wash Jug SQUIRREL David Methven& Sons Kirkcaldy Fifeshire Scotland c1875 This huge jug was purchased in England but was made in Scotland during the height of the 19th century Aesthetic movement. It dates from the 1870s-80s. This winsome Victorian jug would have originally been accompanied by a huge wash basin. The jug measures a generous 12” tall and measures nearly 8” across the wide base. Scalloped rim and square applied handle. The jug features brown transfer printed images of a squirrel perched on the limb of an oak tree nibbling on acorns in a woodland setting. The image is repeated on each side and the top rim features a large parrot or bird on a branch. The inner edge is embellished with oak leaves and tiny acorns. The squirrel and surrounding foliage is tipped generously with gold or ... moregilded clobbering. The pattern name is Squirrel. The base is unmarked. The pattern was attributed to David Methven& Sons. A Scottish pottery in the last half of the nineteenth century. Very rare to find an example in such clean condition. The jug is in great condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Light crazing. Minor wear to the rim and the gilding, consistent with age. Offered as is. This oversized water jug is a great example, a decorators’ dream piece. Such a desirable design that Tiffany reproduced it recently. This jug is the original from which the Tiffany jug was copied. Sharp and absolutely pristine. This black or navy blue& white pitcher is exactly as it was the day it was made. probably well over 100 years ago. It measures 6 inches tall. Almost 5 inches across(from spout to handle) and has a base diameter of almost 3 1/2 inches. There are no cracks. No hairlines, no chips, no fleabites, no nibbles. There's not even any crazing. The surface is clean& shiny, both inside and out. There is no staining or toning or rubs to the surface. You won't be disappointed. This is very large Pitcher which comes from a pitcher and bowl set and is 11.5" tall. It is an Ironstone transferware pitcher in a soft brown on a creamy white body. Since there is no country of origin it was made prior to 1890. It is in good condition with the only blemish. The chip on the back side of the handle this is an ancient chip.
