1870-80s Aesthetic Movement Ironstone Transferware Pitcher Pottery
Nice 1870s-80s Aesthetic Movement ironstone transferware pitcher. One tiny tick on the lip otherwise in nice clean condition. A mark on the bottom reads. CI” but no other maker’s marks. Especially nice Aesthetic Era design. Less symmetrical and formal as many pieces or tiles will show, but rather a very fluid, almost cubist presentation of mixed layers, intersections and stylized elements. Also. It is a gray-blue transfer rather than the more typical red-brown style. Measures 8 inches tall and 4 ¾ inches across bottom. Email with questions. RED CLIFF AMERICAN IRONSTONE ART POTTERY WHITE 7.25" TALL OCTAGON PITCHER MINTY
Up for auction is a Marked. Red-Cliff Company of Chicago, Illinois(Ironstone Distributors and Decorators, 1950 to 1980) Exact Specification, Antique American or British Ironstone Reproduction, Octagon(8 Sided) Table Pitcher in"Near-Mint" Sparingly Used Condition which was Manufactured by the Hall China Company of East Liverpool, Ohio, U.S.A. 1901 to Present) sometime between 1950 and 1980. This superb replica/ reproduction ironstone pitcher has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, scratches, scuffs, major stains or repairs of any kind. I'm stating"Near-Mint" condition for one small post factory issue that's only on the bottom of this piece. There are three methods a pottery can choose for kiln firing the glaze and Red Cliff Pottery used an unglazed base ring as their method and you can see in picture 10 that the dry ... morering absorbed some dust or dirt and it discolored the ring a little bit. There is also a factory flaw with this piece and picture 12 is a close up view of the flaw. You can see that there's an in-mold band around the pitcher just a few inches below the top opening. The band creates two creases on either side of it and within the upper crease you can see a black dot. This tiny dot got into the white glaze some how and it's there to stay. Please keep in mind that the flaw has been their since the pitcher was removed from the Hall China Company's kiln. With the discoloring of the base ring being on the bottom and the black dot being so tiny there really isn't any compromising of this pitcher's aesthetic value. Without a doubt is displays nicely and if so desired it's a fully functional piece as well. The tallest point for this pitcher is the handle where it makes close to a 90 degree turn and as already stated it's about 7 1/4 inches tall. The top opening is somewhat rounded even though it becomes a hexagonal piece most of the way toward the bottom. When it comes to the top opening it's actually an oval that measures bout 3 3/4 inches by 3 1/4 inche

Circa 1892 from Trenton. New Jersey The history dates to 1863 when the pottery was founded by Coxon& Thompson. One of the earliest marks used by the firm was the British Coat of Arms. Which was placed on all their general ware. About 1892 a wreath enclosing the monogram T. P. Co. was used(Trenton Potteries Co. In 1892, the Trenton Potteries Co. was organized by the consolidation of five sanitary ware establishments: Crescent, Delaware, ... moreEmpire, Enterprise and Equitable. Later Ideal Pottery was included. The mark used by the consolidated company is a star. The numeral in the star indicates the plant where the ware was produced. The mark on this pitcher indicates production in 1892 based on information from http:www.trentonhistory.org/Made/Marks.html. While this pitcher is classified as used. We can find no chips. Nicks, rubbings, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There is minor wear to the gold on the top rim, spout and on the handle. This wear is certainly age-appropriate and does not distract from the beauty of the pitcher. Please carefully inspect the photos to see how good the condition of this one is. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the transfer or the hand coloring. There is only very minor fine crazing and there is none of the usual browning under the crazing. This is really a striking pitcher that is very well preserved for its age. NOTE: The black spots on the outside of the pitcher that are visible in the photos were black paint and have all been removed without damage to the pitcher. The pitcher is 7" from handle to spout and has a maximum diameter of 5 1/8" It is 7 1/2&qu

1880-1900c. Antique Trilby Pottery Hand Painted Ironstone Milk Pitcher
This Trilby maker mark is a mystery to me. I've done extensive research and can find neither an American company nor English company with this name. Based on the design of the ironstone pattern and handpainting I am judging this to be a late 1800s piece. It does lack crazing which is either a sign of very good care or it could have been made in England. The pitcher is in very good condition no chips. No cracks, and no discoloration. The handpainted floral motif is also in very good condition. There is a very small spot of light wear towards the bottom(see photos) There is also some wear to the gilding from use. If anybody has any knowledge of the Trilby maker mark and the approximate time or country of manufacture for this pitcher I would appreciate an email so I can update this listing with more detailed information.

Handmade Pottery Jug Pitcher Large Vintage/antique Ironstone Style
In the ironstone style an old piece of handmade pottery this pitcher is large and could be used for flowers. It has a charming country look. The size is 8" tall and 8" wide when you include the handle. Without the handle it is 6" wide. The base is 5" in diameter I have had this over 20 years and I am downsizing. Perfect as a decor piece for a mantle. Kitchen, or any place in your home no makers mark. It has a light gray glaze but seems to be a reddish clay.
