All molded details are exceedingly sharp. Clear, well defined, and highly pronounced. The blue encircling the top and bottom rims is dark and evenly applied. There are a few slight potter’s smudges done in the making. All in all, this is one of the finest Fist jars to ever hit the market! Absolutely beautiful! The mold on the lid is not as strong and the blue is a shade or two lighter but, still, it IS a lid and a nice one as well. Basketweave canisters are illustrated and described in detail on pages 193 through 197 of the 1997 Salt Glaze Stoneware book; a“Put Your Fist In” cookie jar is featured on page 195. Overall, Basketweave canisters are characterized as“Scarce” with the Fist cookie jar valued at $750. CONDITION: It could use a bath but I’ll leave that joy for the new owner. Up for bid is a vintage large Catawba Valley N.C. pottery dark olive green and brown pottery churn jar crock jug with an applied arch ear handle on one side and a loop handle on the other side. We got this at an Estate Sale. But the potter and exact age is not known. Please excuse any glares, white spots or shadows. The jar is in very good original condition. It has an old 1 1/2" shallow chip on the edge of the top rim. 3 small shallow chips on the top rim, some glaze flaking on the edge of the ear handle, and it appears to have a hard to notice old tight spider hairline on the very bottom of the base, but it holds water and makes a nice ring when tapped. The jar measures approx. 18" tall by 8" wide across the top rim and 8 3/4" wide across the base. The inside inner rim where a lid would rest is approx. 6" wide. The churn jar is marked with the capacity, a 4 to the left of the loop handle. Folks, this is a very good vintage Catawba Valley North Carolina pottery 4 gallon churn jar crock and it would go wonderful in a southern folk pottery collection or home. For your consideration: A Early Frankoma Pottery Prairie Green Guernsey Pitcher#93. The Pitcher measures 6 1/2" in height with the lid on.height. It is 4 1/2" at it widest point(middle of pitcher) and the base is 2 3/4" in diameter. The bottom of the pitcher is unglazed. Revealing the Red Sapulpa Oklahoma clay. It is marked: 93 FRANKOMA. The FRANKOMA marking looks to be done with one of the metal incisied stamps that were destroyed in the 1938 fire. I strongly believe that the pitcher was made in the 1940's or 1950's. The pitcher has a flat round base with a foot at the edge of the base and straight rising sides. Which end at a shoulder and then continues to rise straight up to a slightly scalloped rim. The pitcher has a spout and a shaped applied handle. The top half of the pitcher has green coloring while the bottom half has brown coloring. The pitcher has a raised floral and foliate design in the top three quarters and a raised scroll design on the bottom quarter. The pitcher is stamped England on the bottom. There are just a few minor nicks that are not detrimental in anyway to the showing of this pitcher. There are no cracks or crazing. The pitcher weighs 3 lbs 12 oz so it will be packed very carefully for shipment. Measurement is not quite 8" H x 5" W at the opening of the pitcher. It is approx. 19" round. Vintage glazed pottery jug pitcher FACE HANDLES with four matching cups NICE
This is a beautiful handcrafted vintage pottery set here. One 9" tall pitcher with amazing face work on the handles. It also has with it a set of four cups that go with it which are about 3-4 inches in size. This is a beautiful set. There is a small imperfection near the spout at the top of the pitcher. It is NOT rough on the pottery so it's not a break or chip.just an area where the glazing didn't fully take. As a whole the set is fabulous.

Antique Grape Designed Pewter Overlay Chocolate Brown Glazed Pottery Pitcher
A chocolate brown glaze(in the style of Alphonse Cytère) pitcher with pewter grape overlay. Circa 1900. The overlay on these pieces are usually fragile as the overlay was typically affixed with a wax-like adhesive that decays over time. Most overlay failed to survive. This vase has its overlay perfectly intact and the overlay is firm. The overlay does have a signature of G. Lavney. The pictcher is approximately 8-7/8" 22.5 cm) x 5" 12.75 cm) depth at its widest point. The pitcher was modeled by hand and is very balanced stylistically.

Lovely Antique Art Pottery Stoneware Salt Glazed Pitcher Jug Molded Deer Motif
This auction is for a Lovely Antique Salt Glaze Art Pottery Stoneware Pitcher or Jug Beautifully Decorated with raised molded design of a Standing Doe and a lying fawn amid grasses and tall trees. The piece is not marked but dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The piece Displays Wonderfully with great blue throughout. It is in Good condition. Especially for its age, without any chips or cracks from damage. There are several manufacturing imperfections from the firing process. Which was customary for pieces of stoneware of this vintage and only adds to the character and authenticity. There is what appears to be a popped air pocket near the bottom of the piece(photo 11) a tiny piece of extra material trapped under the glaze at the lip(last photo) and normal glaze crazing.
