Small Antique Folk Art Pottery Creamer - Pitcher Earthenware Hand Painted Tulip
Hi. For sale a small antique redware pitcher or creamer. The pitcher is cream colored with hand painted brown slip glaze Pennsylvania Dutch Tulips. Leaves, dots and lines. There is a chip on the bottom rim painted band(see picture) There is some crazing and some paint is wearing off due to age. I took close up pictures to show the paint fading and crazing. Crazing is mostly on the top of the pitcher or creamer. You need to look close to see the crazing- there is also a few tiny pottery marks or holes from when it was made. There is a V or check mark on the bottom that has been incised in the pottery(see last picture) Not sure if that is an intial or a check. Thanks for looking and have a blessed day! I think the pitcher is a mold and I have seen different versions painting. This is highly glazed and painted by Rose. Stark white background. Nicely molded with blue trim. On the foxes' side one foxes ear and one foxes nose are rough on the tip. Original glaze may not have stuck. On the dogs' side one ear is smooth but a tiny dot of white at point. Vtg Hungarian Figural Folk Art Slip-Painted Terracotta Pitcher Wine-Jug - 60 oz
About this item: A vintage figural pitcher/ wine jug made of terracotta clay The'hat'spout appears to be slab-formed and attached to a wheel-thrown body. With a pulled handle Three techniques used in the surface decoration: Raised patterns made with applied clay(see snake. Rectangles, leaves, especially in closeup photo 5) Incised patterns(see flowers in closeup photo 6) Painted patterns made with clay slips and sealed with a clear glaze Made in Hungary(see stamp in photo 7) Age unknown. But a similar, but smaller, pitcher on eBay( 200994958714) is identified as made in the 1960s/ 1970s Condition: Very good vintage condition. No nicks. Cracks or scratches. No chips to the clay itself- but there are some shallow chips/flakes in the surface glaze and decorative slip This flaking is primarily on the raised ornamentation: see photo 5- ... morerectangles to either side of the central snake motif- and two columns of leaf-shapes that bisect the rectangles. There is crazing in the clear glaze(see especially photo 3) Which has resulted in some minor staining of the white slip surface This staining is most visible on the inside of the handle( see photo 8) On the rim of the'hat' above the handle. You can see a few small dots of red slip or terracotta showing through(see photos 9-10) Most of these spots are sealed under the clear glaze- indicating that they were from the time of manufacture. One of these small red spots is caused by shallow chip through the glaze and the black slip. Hi. For sale a small antique yellow clay pitcher or creamer. The pitcher is cream colored with hand painted brown slip glaze tulips. Leaves, dots and lines. There is a chip on the bottom rim painted band(see picture) There is some crazing and some paint is wearing off due to age. I took close up pictures to show the paint fading and crazing. Crazing is mostly on the top of the pitcher or creamer. You need to look close to see the crazing- there is also a few tiny pottery marks or holes from when it was made. 1940S PENNSYLVANIA SLIPWARE FOLK ART POTTERY SIGNED PURINTON CO APPLE PITCHER
1940S SIGNED VINTAGE WILLIAM BLAIR SIGNED'SLIPWARE' FOLK ART POTTERY FOR"PURINTON POTTERY CO. WELLSVILLE OHIO/SHIPPEVILLE PENN. LARGE HAND-PAINTED'APPLE' PEASANT WARE" ART JUG PITCHER-IN EXCELLENT UNDAMAGED CONDITION. Piece is signed on the bottom by company and reads"Purinton Slip Ware" see close-up pic included of company signature) This is a circa 1939-early 1940s signed"Purinton" company large hand-painted'Modernist Art Pottery' Jug Pitcher designed by the Purinton company's resident artist& ceramicist William Blair. Who was the brother-in-law of owner and founder Bernard Purinton. These jugs/pitchers and all pottery were hand-painted by a handful of Purinton artists including ceramicist artist William Blair, Bernard's wife Dorothy, and five other artists employed during ... morethat time by the Purinton company. In 1936 Bernard Purinton purchased the"East Liverpool Pottery Co. and incorporated the"Purinton Pottery Co. in Wellsville Ohio, he patented his pottery which became known as"Slipware" and was in business from 1939-1959, these"Apple" pitchers date from 1939-early part of 1940s. This pattern is known as the"Apple" pattern or"d-46" and was part of the"Peasant Ware" patterns designed during this time by Wiliam Blair, some even having been hand-painted by Blair. In 1941 the company moved to Shippeville Penn. All the"Peasant Ware" pieces from this time period were hand-painted, these"Apple" pieces being the most prized and sought after of the"Peasant Ware" pieces. This large jug/pitcher measures approx. 10.75" wide from tip of spout to end of handle x 7.5" tall, it has a lovely exaggerated elongated Ultra-Modernist spout with a curved linear angle(with a hand-painted leaf in green)the spout which is extremely geometric and curved in proportion and form as is the entire pitcher-it is very beautiful-these William Blair-Purinton art pottery pieces/design

Vtg Brazil Folk Art Pottery Fat Belly Pitcher - Colorful Tea / Coffee Pot Figure
An adorable. Colorful and hand made/ decorated fat belly pitcher or pot. I purchased it directly from the estate's owner. She's Brazilian and bought it years ago directly from there, about 30 years ago. Tiny chip in the pottery on the spout but nothing major. it measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" A beautiful piece to display. Not sure if I'd actually use it.
