Vintage if not antique Senator England Semi-Porcelain flow blue pitcher in the Cliff pattern features blue floral design at top and remnants of gold-tone accents along rim and handle. Measures 8-1/4" tall at tallest point x approx. 6" wide at body. 7" long at top from handle end to end of spout x 4-1/2" wide. Marked on bottom with a blue crown logo and"Senator Crown Semi-Porcelain" with a ribbon and words that have mostly rubbed out but begin with a"C" which we believe originally indicated the Cliff pattern. And"England" Raised portion on bottom has numbers that are difficult to make out but that we read as"No. 24819" This is a used piece and has several flaws. Approximately 1" long hairline crack on lip of pitcher that is visible on both inside and outside. 4" scuff mark ... moreon one of the ribs on the body beginning at base and going up to middle of piece that we originally thought was a hairline crack. But is smooth to the touch and does not show through on inside. Significant. Heavy visible crazing on entire surface of piece inside and out. Up for your consideration is a beautiful FLOW BLUE pitcher and bowl set made by J& G Meakin. Hanley, England. This set is in the Moderna Pattern which was produced by them from 1903-1911, making this piece over 100 years old. The pitcher measures 11 inches tall by 11 1/2 inches across. The bowl measures 17 1/2 inches across by 5 1/4 inches deep. Condition is excellent for a piece of this age. There are no repairs, chips or cracks. The piece is very clean and was very gently used. There are several small glaze pops that can be seen in the photo's and a small rough spot on the bowl rim which can be seen in photo 3. There is a barely visible surface scratch on the pitcher, but I couldn't get a photo of it. It does not go through and can barely be noticed. This auction is for a Superb Antique Porcelain Flow Blue Pitcher or Ewer made by Adderley of England circa 1912. It is Beautifully decorated with Flow Blue images of a Windmill lake scene on each side and hand applied sponge gilt accents and gold trim work. The piece is in very good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks. The piece has fine. Even crazing throughout, which is expected from porcelain of this era and adds character and authenticity. It has age-appropriate wear of the gold trim, mostly on the handle. Some might consider the piece a pitcher; others a ewer. Either way it is Lovely and Rare. I haven't been able to find another like it from Adderley with the Windmill design anywhere online. It measures 10 1/2 inches tall and is about 7 inches at its widest point. Doulton Burslem Flow Blue Wash Bowl/Basin This beautiful Doulton Bowl dates from 1885-1902 according to the maker's mark. It is approximately 17" wide at its widest point and 5.5" deep. It has some nicks on the top edge that someone has filled in with gold paint. They are small. But there are several of them on the one side. I did not notice them until I felt the rim and then looked closely. The inside of the bowl has one large spray of blue flowers and two smaller. They appear to be a combination of roses and possibly peonies. There is also an embossed swirl on the inside of the bowl. Some green and iron red on both sides. Background is medium grey-white. The solid pitcher weighs 1# 4.8oz. It is 7 ¾” high and 5 7/8” spout to handle. Excellent condition for age. No chips. Cracks, fleabites or fading. There is general overall glaze craze. Some mild shading under pour lip. Not nearly as dark as pictures show and not brown, but grey. Under the lip. Left side is a nick or slash ½” accidentally done when the clay was wet…no fault or harm. Top rim around spout has some light rubbed areas. Lovely Antique(1886-1907) Trademarked"Flow Blue" Wash Pitcher& Basin with"Poppy" design trimmed in Gold accents( Hines Brothers. Heron Cross Pottery; Fenton, Staffordshire England) T his lovely floral design"Poppy" is RARE and appears to have been created using the"Flow Blue" technique. The basin is stamped with The Hines Brothers Trademark(photo 8) The name of the design. Poppy" is stamped below the trademark. The pitcher has the number" 2583 p" painted in gray on the bottom. The Hines Bros trademark stamp on the bottom of the basin(photo 9) dates this set between 1886-1907* The pitcher is 11.75" tall; the ovoid mouth is 5x6.25" the diameter of the base is 5" its widest diameter is 9" and it weighs 4 lbs. The diameter of the basin is 17" the height is 4.75" ... moreand it weighs 6.5 lbs. Condition: Very Good Condition for an antique of this age: shows signs of normal use. Cauldon England c1890s Ceramic Flow Blue and Silver Pitcher
This pitcher is gorgeous in its simplicity- an overall flow blue Liberty style floral print pattern with a silver glaze on the top band and the handle. The handle itself is made in a rope design and the silver glaze makes the impression that it is metal. The bottom is filled with marks: the blue Cauldon England mark. Which was in use in the 1890s• a blue PF mark. Which may designate the pattern• an incised number 12. Which may be the shape designation• a large red stamped number 7• what appears to be a red artist's signature(a stylized letter G? and a number 7545• a sticker from Burley& Co China and Glass in Chicago Burley& Co was begun in 1884 and imported china from the great potteries of England. They even had their own stable of artists who decorated imported ceramic blanks. The pitcher has no damage– no chips. Cracks, or ... morehairlines. Given its age. It is in marvelous condition! Transferware Flow Blue"Byzantium" Pitcher Antique. Made between the years 1850-1880. Very good condition considereing the age. Flow blue water pitcher or milk pitcher. Feels like an ironstone piece. Made by J R& Co. Pattern is"Byzantium" Wich has buildings and trees in the scene. Unusual that it has teepees in the foreground. The hallmark on the bottom has a beautiful blue stamp with the pattern name"Byzantium" Scene is the same on both sides. Measures approx. 8" from spout to handle x 7.5" tall at the spout lip and 8" tall at the handle x 7" deep. Base is 4.25" diameter. Condition: Has a small 1mm nick on the top rim and shows some rubbing on the rim edge. See photo. No chips. No cracks. Pouring lip is good. Both sides have some bubbling in the glaze, see both photos. Might have ... moresome age crazing. Inside looks really good and no age browning or staining.
