It was one of the largest and grandest hotels on the lake; it was three stories high and could accommodate nearly 300 guests. The majority of the guest rooms were located where the hockey rink is today. On October 31, 1914, it caught fire and was destroyed. In 1915, plans were made for the Leland House to be rebuilt. It was completed in one year at a cost of $125,000. It caught fire again on December 16, 1938, but continued to operate until 1952.

The items listed are from important estate collections including the collection of A. Abraham. If you follow my auctions you will know I have sold a number of important examples from this collection over the past couple months this being the last portion of this amazing collection. Abraham was a highly respected Asian Arts dealer and collector in the 1950-70’ s period and frequently travelled to China. Hong Kong, New York, and London on buying trips at the time. Abraham owned the Imperial Jade shop located in the famous King Edward Hotel in Toronto until his retirement in the year 1976, 37 years ago. When the shop closed many of the pieces were sent to Sotheby’ s in New York for auction. Abraham kept some of his most favorite examples including many of the items listed. Most of the pieces have been in storage since the shop closed in 1976 and have not seen the light of day until now. We are told some items currently listed are also from the highly important Sir David Percival Chinese art collection. You will find one jade hair ornament listed with an original label from this collection and there are more examples also coming up. The Percival collection is considered one of the most important collections of Chinese art to exist. A large portion of this collection is presently on loan to the British museum. From what I have read during the fall of the Qing Empire Sir David Percival was in close contact with many imperial officials that controlled a vast amount of important imperial examples in the palace collection that he purchased from them at the time. The base diameter is 4 ¼ inches. It has nicely molded details around the neck and handle. We believe the markings indicate this piece to date back to the circa 1903- 1910 era, but you may know more about antique ironstone ware than we do. Antique W. C. Co. Water Pitcher As seen by the mark on the bottom of this semi-porcelain pitcher. The W. C. Wellsville China Company. Co indicate this is a Wellsville China Company piece, made in Wellsville, OH, USA. This mark was used circa 1902-1910 by this company. This pitcher has lots of scroll work and measures 7 1/4 inches tall and is 6 inches across at the widest point. Good vintage condition. With no cracks, no crazing, no stains or chips or repairs.

Waco, China This vase& pitcher are very old. Probably from the 1930's- 1940's. The pitcher does have a chip off the top lip. It does have a fine crack on the outside. But it does not seem to go all the way through. The pitcher measurements are: 8" tall(at its peak) opening is 4"x5" and the circumference is 18" at it's widest point. The vase is very pretty also, and it doesn't have any chips. But, it does have a brown stain. I don't know what this was originally used as- possibly a vase, or maybe a toothbrush holder. Lovely Dresden china pitcher is 11" high by 9 1/2" wide(from spout to handle) Opening is roughly 4" x 4" wide. No chips or cracks! The colors are wonderful featuring a wide magenta colored band at top. And pink and blue trumpet flowers on front with leaves and shadow leaves. Back design mimics front but in simpler motif. The gold banding is totally intact, as are the gold accent details on the handle. For those not familiar with T.P.C. Company here is a brief overview: T.P.C. Co. stands for The Potter's Co-operative Co. of East Liverpool, Ohio. This co-operative opened in 1882 when several local potteries purchased the Dresden Pottery Works. Antique Smith- Phillips China Co. Pitcher with Roses
Very nice antique Smith-Phillips China Co. pitcher. Not sure if this is semi-porcelain or stoneware. Heavy. Like the old restaurant dishes. Has painted roses on both sides. There is some wear to the gold finish on the upper edge, but the roses appear to be in good condition. The pitcher is 6-5/8" high, 7-1/2" spout to edge of handle and 5-1/4" across the base. Bottom is marked Smith-Phillips China Co. In good condition with no chips or cracks.

Burgess & Co Rugby Flint China Butter Dish & Creamer-early 1900's?
Up for auction is what looks to be a very old creamer and possibly what was used as a butter dish-the base of the creamer is marked with the Burgess Co brown logo and has"Rugby" The symbol or mark, FLINT CHINA" AND"B& C" the butter dish is not marked, however it has the same exact pattern as the creamer, and this came as a set along with some serving platters that I will also have up for auction. They appear to be very old with heavy crazing, Im guessing late 1800's to early 1900's from what Ive read online, but not positive-if anyone has any info, pls feel free to email me thru ebay. There is some slight fading in some areas of the gold trim, but the gold looks much better than some later made items Ive seen, such as the Hall Autumn Leaf pattern. The base of the butter dish has some slight discoloration ... morein the bottom of the dish and in the crease on one side. Im not sure if there is some fading in the leaves or if that's part of the design. Looks to be a small flea bite on the inside edge rim of the creamer. Like I said, these look really old, so if you have any questions, pls feel free to ask, blow up the pics and take a much closer look. Overall, I think they are in pretty good shape for their age. This washing pitcher is made by Ford China Co. The pattern is Wyandotte. This pitcher has the floral pattern is in a beautiful purple color. There are also swirls of gold on the pitcher amongst the embossed design on the upper part of the pitcher. The dimensions are 11" high by 10" wide by 9" deep. These are approximate. The opening of the pitcher is roughly 5" in diameter. Please note this pitcher was made between 1898 and 1904. There is barely any crazing on this pitcher. There are zero chips or cracks. There are two little brown spots under the glaze about 3 MM long. The inside of the pitcher is also like new. Without crazing chips or cracks. This is Wm. Brunt whose Family Association made pottery from 1847 to 1902. The mark is an Eagle or Phoenix which is a trademark that they used on their Ironstone China. The pitcher is about 12 inches tall and the bowl measures about 14 1/2 inches in diameter at the top. Both pitcher and bowl are in good used condition I have pictured the flaws please see pictures also handle feels like it may be cracked in center but still in tack. There is an embossed flower on the top of the pitcher handle. There is some light crazing that is normal for pottery of this age.

Beautiful big Ironstone China Coxon& Co pitcher which has a pink Thistle pattern on both sides and top. No chips or cracks that I can see. But lots of crazing and as you see in the photos some off-coloring in the white, especially on the front bottom(unless that was supposed to be that way) My mother bought this vintage in the 70s. Vintage White Ironstone China bowl and pitcher by Mellor, Taylor & Co England
I have saved the best for last. Beautiful Matching Vintage White Ironstone China Bowl and Pitcher. It is probably 100 years old and is in wonderful shape except for some very light crazing on the bowl-the pitcher has no crazing. The detail on the handle and all over the pitcher is wonderful. The floral portion of the pattern appears to be bleeding heart. This is a very large pitcher at almost 13 inches tall and about 7 x 8 inches on the bottom. The logo on the bottom says Warranted Stone China. Mellor, Taylor& Co. England. The matching bowl is 15 inches in diameter x 5 inches high and has the same logo as the pitcher. The bowl has the same pattern on the inside and is smooth on the outside.

This is an ironstone china pitcher that I purchased from an estate. It is very heavy vitreous china. No cracks chips or crazing. A few rub marks on the transfer print. It is White lilies with green leaves and a touch of pink in behind the design. Very pretty. There is kiln fired orange luster that bubbled a little on top of the handle, but doesn't hurt the overall look. I am a china painter and I work in lusters and overglaze colors) It is 6' H X 7 1/2" spout to handle. This piece is a very nice old example that was made in the USA. The back has a circle with National China Co and an eagle in the center sitting on a stack of books. Part of the design is worn off but I can make out Western Gem and the initials ELD only because I saw it on the back of another ebay item. Wellsville China Co. White 9 1/2 in. pitcher
The information I have provided is to the best of my knowledge. The only mark on the bottom is W C CO. and under that semi-porcelain I looked W C Co. up online and it seems like the Wellsville China Co. in Wellsville. Ohio is the place where it was made. It has a small chip under the left hand rim of the top. All over it are very small places that look like a bubble burst. You have to be close to see them. On the bottom by the mark. The brown lines are not cracks but just lines in the glaze. I would say it is in good shape otherwise. It is 9 1/2 inches tall and 9 3/4 inches from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle. It weighs 3 1/2 lbs. I accept returns if it is in the condition it was when I mailed it.

Antique Vintage White Ironstone Pitcher & Bowl Set Stone China JW Pankhurst & Co
Up for auction is a vintage antique English made stone china J. W. Pankhurst& Co. white ironstone pitcher and bowl set recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. They were in use before sinks and indoor plumbing was common. People would do daily washing in such pieces. This set is found in good used condition. The only real condition issue to discuss is a small hairline near the base of the pitcher, best seen in photo#6. There are three marks on the edge of the bowl, where it was set in a kiln, often found on such pieces. An example of this mark is best seen in photo#7. Both pitcher and bowl are marked. This set has a nice, but subtle decorated handle. Please see photo#11 for details. This is a very large. Antique pitcher or jug made by Onondaga Pottery Co. the same makers of Syracuse China. It is in very nice condition. There is a very faint spider crack in the glaze on the very bottom, but it does not go through to the inside. There is also some handling wear to the gold trim, but no other chips, cracks or crazing. Very clean and shiny. I believe this was the pitcher to a wash set, and probably had a matching bowl, chamber pot and other pieces. It is approx. 11 1/2in. tall. This antique pitcher is marked Mercer Semi Vitreous. High handle with molded spout. Mercer Pottery Company. Trenton, NJ Early 20th Century Appox 8 1/4 x 5" It is in excellent condition considering its age. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs. The crazing on it is, which is typical of it's age, is so fine and completely covering the piece that it makes it even more beautiful and shows it's character.
