19 Century English Copper Lustre Pitcher w/ 3-Dimensional Dancing Figures RARE
Up for auction is a beautifully handmade original 19th Century rare. Antique original large copper lustre ware with three dimensional dancing figures. Look closely at the detail involved! As you can see from the sticker on bottom- this was purchased in 1945 and then identified as being 125 years old. I think it is very safe to say circa 1850- although I do believe it to be earlier than that! Merely. My opinion! Measures approximately 8" high. 5" wide. Beautiful ewer, jug, or pitcher for display and or use. This large antique English jug/pitcher in gorgeous lustreware has warm patina with RARE painted green hand painted decorations. The antique pitcher circa 1820-1850 is in very nice condition. I see what I think may be an faint age-related stress crack near the bottom of the handle. see photo) If it has been restored- it is a mighty ... moregood restoration! I do not think it was a break- merely a stress crack which would certainly be expected for its age! Again, merely my opinion, being sold"as found" Please look closely at photos. RARE 19th Century English Blue Spatterware Staffordshire Pearlware Pitcher Bowl
This is a very RARE& Beautiful Antique 19th Century Pitcher& Bowl set. An original set not a marriage of two different pieces. A wonderful blue spatterware or spongeware(depending on who you talk to) with a gorgeous Pearlware glaze. Which is bright white and in the corners has a light bluish tinge to it(because of the cobalt which was added to the glaze) The pitcher is a wonderful tall and large bulbous pitcher with flared foot and wide spout. With an applied ornate handle. The top of the bulbous portion of the body and just above the foot has a nice molded line band around it. The bowl has blue decoration inside and out. Which I couldn't find many that had decoration on the outside of the bowl. The bowl has a lined border band around the top edge of the bowl as well. Has a small flared foot. Wide top edge. The pitcher measures ... moreapprox. 10-1/4" by 8-1/2" and the bowl 13-1/2" by 4-3/8" The pair is in amazing condition. Usually this type or pottery is chips. Cracked or stained. The only issues with these pieces are the handle is applied to the body and where it meets the body on the left hand side is a space. Not a crack or broken. Just a slight space where it meets the body. The bowl has some minor wear in the bottom base of it inside. Where the pitcher sat and scuffed it up. There are no chips, cracks or repairs or stains. Amazing this piece has survived in this condition! It is unmarked on the bottom. Not even a registry mark. Which I think means it pre-dates the use of it in the 1940s.
