Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots around the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. VINTAGE- RUSTIC STONEWARE PITCHER- BROWN GLAZE PASTORAL- This old stoneware pitcher is in very good condition. With overall age-crazing and the expected edgewear along the top and the bottom where the glaze has worn off. It's a heavy old thing and the same scenic tree-lined pathway appears on the front and the back. This pitcher measures 7 inches high overall and is 7 and 3/4 inches across from the tip of the spout to the edge of the handle. The interior is very clean. The only marking I can find is an incised 131 on the bottom. As can be seen faintly below. The successful bidder will pay the actual calculated cost of Priority Mail shipping anywhere within the United States. N ot quite sure-if you know please email me- I'd appreciate it) Beer Barrel Style with Impressed Design This pitcher is in fantastic condition having a barrel shape with impressed design. There are just a few minor nicks that are not detrimental in anyway to the showing of this pitcher. There are no cracks or crazing. The pitcher weighs 3 lbs 12 oz so it will be packed very carefully for shipment. Measurement is not quite 8" H x 5" W at the opening of the pitcher. It is approx. 19" round. Pix#3 shows 2 nicks on the bottom; pix#6 shows 1 on the lip of the spout; pix#7 shows 2 on the piece spanning the spout and. Pix#8 shows nicks and/or missed glazing. I try to capture the imperfections so you are aware but sometimes it would ... morejust be easier to say- it is vintage and of course it has some wear. I like my buyers to know it is not perfect but close to it. I tried looking up what I interpreted the name/company on the label would be but I had no luck in locating. Brown glazed stoneware milk pitcher with embossed cow medallion by Hull ND619
Early Hull stoneware milk pitcher with embossed cow medallion. This pitcher was manufactured in Ohio by Hull Pottery about 1900. It stands 8" tall. Measures 5 1/2" in diameter at the base and holds 2 quarts of liquid. The interior is glazed in white and the exterior in brown with a scroll design around the rim and base, a honeycomb pattern in the background, a rope style handle, and a medallion in the center on both sides of the pitcher which depicts two cows. There is a spot on the handle and one on a cows ear where the glaze has flaked off but no chip to the stoneware. There is a fissure in the body of the pitcher which is visible inside the pitcher. It was caused by the clay drying and shrinking. It looks like a crack but it is not as it is glazed over. Inside the pitcher around the base, there is a fine hairline crack which ... moredoes not extend to the outside and does not hamper the pitcher in holding a liquid.
