Free Shipping Location: Reidsville, United States Here's a beautiful. 19th century redware pitcher in very good condition! Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. ... moreIt has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part of a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. Antique Decorated Ovoid Redware Pitcher; 19th Century Mottled Folk Pottery old
This time we have an early piece of decorated redware pottery in very good. Well-preserved condition. Dating to the middle 19th Century, this lead glazed pitcher has beautiful coloring that was achieved through the use of oxides. It's primarilly green inside and out with mustard and orange colored mottling all over. On the interior, the green turns to mustard at the bottom third of the piece where the surface is worn from use. On the exterior, an area that varies from 3/4 inch to 2 inches from the bottom wasn't glazed, nor was the underside. The original red clay surface was left exposed and an old, grungy patina resulted from past use and the passage of time. Carved into the bottom are the initials"A.S. In addition, this old piece has whimsical, white-yellow floral decorations on opposite sides, adding even more folksy charm. ... moreThe exterior glaze shows wear and tear. Mostly surface scratches from coming in contact with other items. Also, there are a pair of contact marks where it was touching other pieces while being fired. As mentioned earlier, the interior has some loss of glaze but the clay surface is not eroded. Glaze was also worn off on the opening rim and the edges of the handle. There are only a couple of old chips on the rim, none elsewhere. While writing this description we noticed a 2 1/2" line in the back, under the handle, that looks like a very tight hairline. It doesn't appear to go all the way through to the interior and can't be felt when running a finger or fingernail across it. While we like to fully disclose all flaws to the best of our ability, these are really just indicators of heavy use and are helpful in authentication. Redware pottery was used for common, everyday purposes; it was not considered anything special. Surviving examples are often found with significant damage so this early pitcher was well cared for throughout its history. Heavier than it looks, this piece is solid, rugged, and structurally sound. It stands 10 inches tall and has a base diameter of 4

Rare Primitive Antique Redware Chicken Feeder
H ere’s something you don’t see very often. This old redware feeder is 9 1/2 inches tall. Base is 5 3/4 wide and about 7 inches deep. It weighs 4 1/2 pounds. The seed outlet is glazed; the rest is unglazed. CONDITION: There’s quite a bit of chipping around the seed outlet. Thanks to lots of pecking from hungry chickens. Redware probably wasn’t the best choice for a chicken feeder. In addition, there is some minor chipping from the top down to just below the second incised line(this can be seen in Photos 2 and 7) and there is a chip at the base(lower left in Photo 8) These can all be seen in the photos, which are a vital part of the description. Please look carefully at them. Low opener. Shipping within 24 to 48 hours of payment. Good luck bidding. ag6 2.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp73%28c%3Eag6%3E2-14523528d9b-0x10d-

ANTIQUE MINIATURE LOT 5 REDWARE POTTERY 2 GERMANY PITCHERS ~ 3 MUGS ~ 1 OK JAR
This is a fantastic LOT OF 5 MINIATURE REDWARE POTTERY PIECES including two marked GERMANY AND ONE MARKED OK on the front and BOSTON BAKING BEANS on the back. The tiny pitcher is marked GERMANY and stands only 3/4" tall. One of the mugs which stands 1 3/4" tall is marked GERMANY around the top and looks like it is designed with castles wrapping around the outside. Another mug stands only 1 3/4" tall and is decorated with a couple on one side and a village scene on the other. The last mug stands approx. 1 3/4" tall and is decorated with a mans head on each side. The little redware jar stands approx. 1 3/4" tall and 1" across the top and is marked O.K. on one side and BOSTON BAKING BEANS on the other side. It has a small cut or scuff measuring approx. 1/4" long which isn't noticeable. I believe the mugs ... morethat are unmarked are from GERMANY since they are very similar to the ones that are marked GERMANY and were found as a collectors set. I've found tiny chips on a couple of these little pieces and I have pictured them very closely so please check them carefully before bidding. Thanks for looking and if you have any questions. Please ask before bidding!
