Leaving a gap that isn't terribly noticeable but nonetheless there. Rubbing, soiling and staining to moudling resulting in loss of finish in a few rubbed spots. Moulding joint gaps a bit wider than normal. Frame liner partially loose, but that won't matter when it's hanging on the wall. All new hardware is installed, ready to hang. Old wavy glass present. This is a fantastic antique victorian shadow box frame with a large tin type image of someone's sweet little baby from long ago. Walnut 3" deep frame measures 12" x 14" and has a 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" frame opening. Large tin type image is mounted under glass and matted with an oval mat that has a 5 3/4" x 7 3/4" opening. Tin type is in very nice condition. Walnut frame is good and solid. Has several chips to the gilt trim along the edge of one side along with normal age related wear to the finish of the frame. Glass may not be the original. Wire hanger on back. If shipping is less than price quoted difference is refunded to the buyer.

It is carved on the outer edge making it unique. The wood is in excellent shape but is dusty and needs a good polishing. 19th c. Victorian Walnut Shadow Box Picture Frame with Tulips and Berries
This listing is for an antique late 1800's to early 1900's era walnut shadow box wood frame in great condition. The frame has a wonderful finish and lots of nice details. The gold liner has an interesting design. The pictures do not give the frame justice. The frame is 13" by 11" and 2" deep. The opening in the back is 8" by 6" The print is primarily in a greenish grey color with berries and portions of the tulips in a wine color. The coloring is unusual. I did not take the frame apart as it is very clean and well put together so this information is based on the portion of the print that can be seen. ONE of the frames has a tiny Wedgwood Jasperware Type decoration attached to the little hanging bail- the hanger is stamped: Hampden, Patented 7/27/1915. Don't know if this is the original bail, or if this was added later, because I actually thought that the frames were earlier than that. The frames measure 6 7/8" X 5 3/4" The sight openings measure Approximately 3 3/4" X 3" there is a paper backing so, I don't know the size of the opening from the back. But never seen one like this, with the wooden leaf adornments in the corners. The leaves are similar to those found on frames generally called Adirondack or primitive style. It's possible that this was a one-off experiment in a frame shop. The addition to the leaves appears to have been original to the frame. As square nails are used to hold them in place. This is an ANTIQUE VICTORIAN DEEP WELL WALNUT FRAME WITH BUILT-ON SHADOW BOX- 14-1/4" x 12-1/4" x 7-1/4" LOVELY old deep well walnut frame with two"ebonized" bands and inside gilded patterned band/liner; original glass on frame. Frame portion itself measures approximately 14-1/4" x 12-1/4" x 2-1/8. Visible inside/display area through frame measures approx. 9-1/2 x 7-1/2. Frame has built-on black painted shadow box attached permanently to back. Shadow box portion itself measures approximately 11-5/8" x 10-1/8" x 5. Inside back of shadow box has mirror covering entire area; mirror is affixed to inside of box only loosely with a few brads. Inside of shadow box also has a removable shelf which rests on two wooden strips going across the middle. Frame. Which is"door" to shadow box, opens from ... moreleft(rather than from right) Frame is held in closed position by a sawed off nail. Which slips into holes on bottom left side of box and inner molding of frame. Entire piece is hung on wall using two 1/2" diameter eye hooks which are attached to top of shadow box portion. Weight of frame with shadow box is 6.5 lbs. CONDITION: This is a fabulous piece in which to display small pieces. Entire piece looks great on wall. Here's a specific list of irregularities in an effort to fully disclose its antique charm: Frame is in lovely antique condition with visible age appropriate/ age-related use marks. Surface marks, imperfections, including a few nail pokes visible on front of frame; some gold worn off of gilded liner piece, baring a little plaster; finish worn off of walnut here and there. And many age marks on walnut wood. Glass itself appears to be original and has a few visible irregularities. Shadow box itself is obviously handmade and is primitive in construction. Painted with matte black paint. Worn off on inside in places. Wood is rough in some areas. Nails are visible. Three of four corners don't meet tightly. Two Victorian Deep Well Walnut? Picture Frames with Gold/Shadow Box/Wood/1800's
Up for auction are these two beautiful Victorian wooden deep well frames. I bought these about 30 years ago at an antique store thinking I would frame something in them. And I never have. The frames are about 13" by 12" outside measurement and inside is about 7 3/4" by 9 1/2" They have gold trim on the inside of frames. From the glass to the outside of frame is about 2 1/2" and the frames have they original glass with all the imperfections found in old glass. Back of frames have the original wood backing and hardware and wires. These would be beautiful with old family pictures inside. The frames are not in perfect condition, but when you are about 100 years old you are not perfect. Not sure of the age of these but I would think late 1800's early 1900's.

Antique 1869 Walnut Shadow Box Picture Frame w/ Victorian Era Gentleman Drawing
Up for auction is an Antique 1869 Walnut Shadow Box Picture Frame with Victorian Era Gentleman Drawing. The frame is 14" long. 12" wide and 2" deep. The frame is made from Walnut and has a simple but intricate design which was popular during the Victorian age. The drawing in the frame is of a Victorian Gentleman. I am not sure if this is a drawing, painting or etching, etc. On the inside backing is a piece of newspaper used for bunting, it is dated 1869. The frame has a shadow box style to it with a gold colored interior frame. The frame is in good condition especially considering it is roughly 150 years old. Two of the corner scroll pieces have some thin cracks but are still intact. The frame needs to be cleaned and polished as well as the interior frame. On the bottom of the interior frame there is crackling. The glass is ... morefully intact but needs to be cleaned as well. The back is a little loose as it is missing a couple of nails. Antique Walnut Shadow Box Picture Frame with gilt liner for 10" by 12" Up for auction is a Victorian Walnut Shadow Box Picture Frame for a 10" by 12” picture. This frame date anywhere from 1870 to about 1880. Has mitered joints and square nail construction. It is the original finish though the finish is in fair condition. The paint on the liner looks to be the original and is also in fair condition. It also has a name written on the back. Actual sight measurement is 11 5/8” by 9 1/2” while the actual size including the blind space in back is 10 1/16” by 12 1/16” The frame itself measures 17 1/2” by 15 3/4” and it measures 2 3/8” out from the wall. I have no glass, but there is a picture, and some old wire eyelets. It is a pretty decent frame which I think can be restored to use for your photo, work of art, or other piece appropriate ... moreto a late 1800s Walnut Shadow Box frame.
