There are three white pieces on the top, and the bottom is decorated with wood in sections. Antique/Vintage 1800's Hand Carved Tramp Art Frame. Great Condition, 17" x 13" Up for sale is an antique Folk art/Tramp art picture frame with an old picture in it. The frame is what they call Tramp Art. Over a 100 years old, hand made folk art. It's a really neat frame and definitely is old. All wood with inner Gold trim. It's in really good shape. The front has very little wear/tear, it looks like there was an additional leaf on the other top left corner, but not positive, It's solid and complete. The inside trim is gold and shows some wear. The back has no wire, Will need to be replaced. It has just about all it's nails on the back to hold the picture, very rustic backing with one split and a crack so the back piece will also would need proper repairing, there is one chunk out of the back left corner of the ... moreframe(see picture) still has the eye loops for wire, no glass.this is a great piece for collectors. The picture is an old print of the residence of Alvin Buck Esq. Co.unfortunately someone wrote $2.00 on it. I am not sure when, this frame came from a friend who has had it for many years, but the frame is the most collectible. The actual opening for the picture measures approx. 14 1/2" long x 11" tall The outside dimensions are: 17" long x 13" tall from side to side. The front of the frame has 7 little thorns missing all in different spots.the back has 3 missing. With as many thorns that are on this piece. You can hardly tell they are missing. Old picture frame. Measuring inside holes approx. 8 1/2" X 6 3/4" It's really nicely made, I believe from cigar box wood. Only problem is someone decided to cut-off two of the"arms" See the pictures and how the frame has arms on three sides, but not the fourth. I've tried to take pictures to detail. This is an unusual vintage hand made tramp art oval picture frame from the depression era; the original hand cut glass has a pale greenish aqua tint. The image opening is 7& 5/8" x 5& 5/8" The overall size is 8.75" x 6.75" The wood is dark with a nice grain. There is some writing on the back. The top left corner and the bottom left corner are missing wood pieces. The top left is also missing the top layer of wood and the nails can be seen in photo's. The main portion of the frame nearest the picture is a 3 layer carving. Portions of the outer frame are one and two layer carvings. The Garden Scene may be original to the frame. First let me say I know nothing about this item.other than the Frame is beautiful and thought someone may want it for the frame itself. Vintage Tramp Art/Folk Art Picture Frame with Military Document
This is a vintage tramp art picture frame. It is hand made with five rows of carved wood. It is in excellent condition with no visible damage. It has a signed French document inside under glass. That is dated 18 October, 1942. The Reconnaissance document was presented to Monsieur Metzger Ernest of Strasbourg, France. The frame is 14 inches high and 16 inches wide. The glass is 8 1/4 inches high and 10 1/4 inches wide. Shipping and handling in the U.S. would be $9. All other destinations would be adjusted.

HUGE TRAMP ART PICTURE FRAME - - 31.5" x 33.5"
This frame was purchased from an estate outside of Buffalo. NY and, yes, 33.5 x 31.5- that's 2 1/2 feet tall and wide! This is absolutely the largest tramp art frame that I have ever seen. OK, here we go with the description. I'll start with the back; it's the easiest. There is a hand printed note taped directly in the center which reads, Made by knife by Dad- William H. Harris" then scratched with what appears to be a knife on the top is, Made by Pen Knife- William H. Harris" OK, now to the front. The outer chip carving is 5 layers deep with a wood edging on the outer side of the layers creating a stabilizing protecting edge. The next is also 5 layer with an edging on the top of the pyramid chip carved layers, again as a protective edging. The inside where the pictures are is also five layer with no protective edging. ... moreThis is where there are two places with damage; lower left picture is nicked and top of middle picture is missing. The outer 14 picture openings measure approximately 4 x 6. I have no clue who the people are. The largest inside opening measures 12 x 14(approximate) All these pictures seem to have been cut from a magazine of some sort and starting from the corner left are Washington all the way around to Polk. In the center of this is a picture of McKinley which has also been cut out of a magazine, I'm guessing. Around him is an array of subjects starting at the top and going clockwise(these are all hand written) Col. Roosevelt, Gen. Miles, Schley, Secy Alber, Gen Laviton, Maj. Gen. Merritt, Sampson, Cap. Evans. I've just written them exactly as they are written on the page. The background of these pictures is a black paper. All of the photo openings and the center opening have glass. Antique Black Forest Wood Carved Picture Frame. This is a beautifully carved and layered frame with a wood back and very old nails. This is hand carved and the pieces fit together like a puzzle. I would say it has four layers. The frame has nice dimension. The picture in the frame was purchased with the frame and is a studio picture from Detroit, Michigan. It is of five females and has been tinted after developing and has that silver shine look.Sorry, old pictures confuse me) The glass in the frame was hand cut period glass and all of the pieces of wood are hand cut, as is the backing. The wire mounting wire is old and rusty. The picture is 4 x 2 1/2 and the frame measures 6 3/4" x 5 5/8" Very nice antique and it will be even prettier all cleaned and polished. Selling an antique tramp art/ folk art/ outsider art hand carved chip carved picture frame c 1880-1910. Size is approximately 12" wide by 15 1/4" tall plus the old metal loop for hanging at the top of the frame. Opening for picture is about 9" wide by 11 3/4" tall. This nicely detailed tramp art antique frame is entirely hand carved and is constructed in chip carved layers of four layers. The iron loop at the top for hanging the frame from a nail appears original. Display the frame as is on a solid wall with the old glass and the early litho print. Tramp Art was woodworking where small pieces of wood, primarily from discarded cigar boxes and shipping crates, were carved/ whittled into layers of geometric shapes having the outside edges of each layer notch carved. It was popular in the years between the 1870s to the early 1930s when the art form declined due to World War II. The craftsmen used simple tools such as a pocketknife to carve the wood and assemble mostly utilitarian objects. Tramp art was popular in Germany, Austria, German areas of Switzerland and the United States, and some of the finest examples were made in the Black Forest(Schwartzwald) of Germany. The most common forms were the box and the picture frame and although there were no rules or patterns to lend commonality in the artists’ work there were objects made in every conceivable shape and size including full sized furniture and objects of whimsy. Tramp Art was a democratic art form made where the raw materials used in its construction were found. VINTAGE SWINGING PICTURE FRAME: PYROGRAPHY. CARVING, TRAMP ART- ONE OF A KIND Description VINTAGE WOOD FRAME: BURNED. CARVED, EMBELLISHED This unique vintage picture frame is hard to categorize because the artisan used so many different techniques to bring his fun and creative vision to life. It is a swinging picture frame on a base. There is a lot of carving and burning and quite a lot of amusing embellishment. Overall it seems to have a logging/lumber jack theme except for the cross on the top. Though in conjunction with the two copper hatchets on the base perhaps that makes sense! The base of the frame displays burned flowers. Tulips I think, along with a star embellished with little carved points. The craftsman added two copper hatchets which are clearly hand made. And for just a bit more whimsy, the frame itself is topped with a cross. ... moreThere are logging motifs, polka dots, scallops, triangles and much more. Several diamond shaped pieces have been appliqued along the edges of the frame. There are little twisty hooks on each side of the frame that make me curious about their function. There is more copper trim including a little fence along the front of the base. All four of the pieces on the back meant to hold a photo in place are in intact. I've had this fun and unique frame in my folk art collection for decades and it is in excellent condition with one exception that is easily glued back into place. The hatchets are each stuck in a tiny"log" But one of the logs is split and the head of the hatchet is't connected like the other one. See the photo. Here and there on the base are some light spots on the wood where the varnish has worn. You can see these in the photos also. Measurements: From base to the top of frame. Excluding the cross: 10" Overall width and depth from edge to edge on the base: 15 7/8" x 3 5/8" Outside frame not including embellishments: 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" Inside opening of frame: 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" I am radically downsizing my life long possessi

Small table frame from victorian period c1890-1915: Small. Authentic antique table easel frame. I calling this a primitive or Tramp Art frame since it seems hand made to me BUT this is not verified. I could be"out to lunch" and I welcome you insights if you know more. However. In 30+ years of collecting I haven't seen another made like this. Spiral. Curly adornments of various sizes on flat metal sheet, which almost has a galvanized look. Soldering shows as it did when made and is part of the reason I call this hand-wrought. Small old victorian photo inside as I bought it years ago. Back has original thick blue velvet back and attached/hinged easel. Moveable clasps to hold back are present and in working order.
