This superb frame measures an impressive 29” x 34” overall with 21 ¼” x 26 ¼” reveal and 22 x 27” back rabbet opening. The stacked gesso moldings are 4” wide and 4” deep! I see minimal loss in the original gesso designs under the much later coat of gold paint. The paint has dulled pleasantly with time. But is not more that 40 or 50 years old. It is sturdy and usable. This is a very rare 19th century lemon gold picture frame with a black border. The rabbet measures approximately 11" x 8 1/2" and each side of this frame is 3 1/2" wide. This frame is very old. Up for auction is an antique deep well walnut Victorian picture frame recently found at auction in the Lancaster County. PA area. It is found in good used condition and features a lemon gold colored inner liner. The liner does have some minor discoloration on the surface. There is a small crack in the frame which can be repaired. This is best seen in photo#4. There are some surface scratches as well, shown in photo#3. A wonderful antique Lemon Gold picture frame circa 1850. Original leaf finish. Plus glass and original back board. Not sure glass is original- looks newer to me) Sides are original gold paint. Overall size is 11" by 14. Measured from the back, the rabbet size is 7& 5/8" by 10& 3/4. Condition is as found and as shown. Large VTG Antique Victorian Picture Frame Gold Gilt Carved Gesso Wood Lemon
This beautiful ornate gold gilded frame measures a large 37 x 31 x 2 inches overall and has an opening of 21 1/2 x 27 1/2 with the mat or 24 x 30 if the mat were removed. It was found in an antique shop. But I am not sure of the age of it. It is definitely is in an antique style. It does have some discoloration/spotting on one side as can be seen in pictures, but is in very good, sturdy condition. It is a heavy wood/gesso frame weighing over 8 pounds and is gold gilded. Antique EASTLAKE Ebonized & Lemon Gold Gilt Deep PICTURE FRAME 8x10 w Carving
Up for sale is this circa 1870 Eastlake style frame with original ebonized gesso on wood finish with delicate intaglio carved corner details. I especially like the potted plant at lower left. The frame features bright(fly-specked) lemon gold accent on both the outer and inner edges of the frame. Nicley offsetting the ebony. The ebonized finish has a few chips and scratches. And the top section has a brown tint to it(might be able to be cleaned, but I did not want to try) The lemon gold is in very good. Aged condition with a nice patina. Its outer dimensions are 13” x 15” And the rabbet is 8” x 10” The molding is about 3” wide and 1 5/8” deep, and has some rubs and scratches with stable finish. A wonderful. Sturdy frame.
