Some had prints in them– a few had mirrors. These are the only two ovals I found, each from around 1865-1875. CONDITION = EXCELLENT The frame with the old print measures 14 ¾” by 12 ¾” overall. The oval image size is 9 ¾” by 7 ¾” But the rabbet is cut to hold an image 8” by 10” It is deep at 1 ¾” and it’s quite elegantly constructed. Note the dovetails on both frames. The print is nice also. But it is not as old as the frame. Both have wood backs. The one with no print has a mirror. But I took it out for photographing ... morethe two frames. Mat and wood backing. I am not sure if the glass is original because I don't see any of the typical imperfections of old glass. The frame is in excellent condition with the exception of an area on the side near the back where the frame was evidently bumped and chipped. The piece is still there, but you can see the edge around it in the next to last picture where it doesn't fit back in perfectly. I honestly didn't notice it until I started inspecting the frame, but there is a tiny chip out of it. Other than that, there are ... morelittle gaps where the pieces of wood in the frame come together, as shown in the pictures. This can be tightened, but many people choose to use the frame in the antique condition with the gaps. The original backboard is in two pieces. It was originally held to the frame with nails along the edge, but most of those nails are gone, so it will need some new ones. I put some tape on the backing to hold it in place for now. Overall the frame is in excellent condition and displays beautifully. The outside dimensions are 11-3/8" wide by 13-1/2" long. Without the mat, the opening is 6-3/4" by 8-3/4" WIth the mat, the opening is perfect for a 5" by 7" picture or print. This listing is for a very nice VINTAGE. ANTIQUE OVAL PICTURE FRAME made of CHERRY WOOD or possibly WALNUT, with a GOLD inner fillet. The wood has a very tight, fine grain, more likely cherry wood than walnut, but I am not sure. Has glass, probably original to the frame, but I cannot be certain. The glass IS old, vintage glass with included BUBBLES, so it is NOT new glass. Has the original wood backing, see photo. The frame measures 14 7/8 inches long, 12 7/8 inches wide, measured on the outside. The opening is 9 inches long, 7 inches wide. It is 1 3/4 inches deep(high) The width of the frame itself is 3 inches. It is in really lovely estate condition, no real issues to speak of, no chips, cracks, problems with the wood, no shrinkage cracks. DEEP VICTORIAN WALNUT OVAL FRAME with ANTIQUE MEZZOTINT of mother and children. Partially hand-colored. Good colors– not faded. Frame is circa 1870’s. And the antique mezzotint is probably earlier. Back of print was reinforced long ago– see photo. Old mat– probably original to the frame. Finish on the walnut is in good condition with deep rich color– a few superficial“use” marks visible close-up. Frame was made in 4 parts– see wood joints on the back. Joints in the frame are tight– no wiggle. Gold-tone liner looks like original finish. But the shine on the finish has partially worn down, with some discolorations. Glass is probably original to the frame. Partial original wood part– narrow piece missing– see photo. Weighs about 2 pounds before any packing materials. Size of opening for mat and glass is 8 inches by 10 inches. Outside measurements ... moreare 12 inches by 14 inches. From the side the walnut frame is about 1 ¼ inches deep. ALL SALES FINAL. Rare 19th Century Antique Pair WALNUT OVAL FRAMES Tastefully Grain Painted
Offered for sale is this hard to find pair of antique Oval Walnut Frames in very good overall condition. The glass in both is older. But I believe has been changed, probably within the last 50 years. The frames are very tastefully grain painted as I had to look twice to see it! These are not a matched pair, as there are small differences in the wood carvings designs, but they look very good together. I purchased them at an estate auction held in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. There are a few small dings and light scratches, but overall they are much better than one would expect from late 19th Century frames. The deep dark color and patina gives these a great"antique" look! They measure about 14" by 12" in total size and the picture opening on the back measures about 10" by 8" The white oval border ... moreis just a paper mat and can be removed easily if needed. Deep Ogee Late 19 th Century Wood Frames with Gilt Inner Edges. These are slightly different from each other- one has a thicker gilt inner edge and a less pronounced ogee S-shaped edge. While the other has a deeper S-shaped ogee. As shown. They have been paired for 60 years on a wall in a home and are beautiful together. No glass. Super condition with minor aging and nicks as shown. Oval Antique Walnut Frame Watercolor Portrait of Women
Found in a old New York City Estate clean out is this watercolor portrait on heavy paper of a Victorian women in an old oval ornate frame. Measures approx. 10 1/2 inches by 12 1/2 inches total with frame. Might of had glass covering portrait but none present when found. Portrait is slightly faded with a few age specks of discoloration from age and a slight bubble on paper in white background. Sill not bad for over 100 years old. Antique Late 19th Century Victorian Era Oval Walnut Frame, 12.5" x 15"
This is a beautiful antique late 19th century oval walnut frame in good condition. The frame's outside dimensions are 12.5" x 15" on the outside and the inside dimensions allow for an 8" x 10" photograph or piece of art. The frame is in good to great condition for its' age. It has some crazing as detailed in the photos and a couple of very minor superficial cracks. But nothing that couldn't easily be touched up. The cracks are not nearly as noticeable as they appear in the product photography. This frame also includes the original glass and I am including the fashion print I used for the photography. Offered for sale is a nice antique oval walnut frame. This dates from around 1860. And is in good condition. It has a gold liner that is removable. The inside size of the frame is 8" X 10" at the widest part. The outside is just under 11" X 13" The frame is 2" wide. Sight size is 6 3/4" X 8 3/4" The rabbet depth is only about 1/4" with the liner in the frame. I found a piece of glass that will fit this frame, so can send that along if you'd like. There are a couple of minor rubs, but not bad the gold liner seems damaged, but when I look really close it appears to be made that way.
