HUGE Antique Cut Glass 19thC Laydown Perfume Scent Bottle
Unusually large. Antique, 19thc cut glass laydown perfume/scent bottle. Brass lid. Measures 6 3/4” long, shoulders are roughly 1 1/4” across. I purchased it several years ago in an late 19thC- early 19thC house, stayed in 1 family all those years! I bought several from the estate, the mixed group was rock crystal and cut glass. I believe this is cut glass. Condition- excellent. Lid has a slight dent in it, hinge is excellent with no repairs. I didn’t find any chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some old, dried perfume inside. I didn’t try to clean it. Glass doesn’t look sick, it is clear. cents. They measure on the inside across 4. outside edges roughly 4 1/2. Victorian handblown glass tear catcher or laydown bottle with stopper
This is a mid-Victorian. Hand blown glass bottle. Bottles in this shape were sometimes used for perfume and sometimes for mourning as a tear catcher or lachrymatory bottle. It's said that a widow would collect her tears in the bottle and empty them on the grave of her husband on the anniversary of his death. This bottle measures 5" and. Remarkably, still has its original stopper. It retains almost all of its gilding on the top, bottom, sides, and stopper. The front and back sides have thumb-sized dimples for grip. No chips or cracks.

The stone is Bezel set on ornate sterling hardware cap. This bottle is very artsy up as you can see in the photos. it has alot going on 4 different cuts in the glass 1. straight ridges 2. diamond 3. swirl& 4. panels The metal is marked sterling. the inside of the cap looks to be gold washed. the glass is clean and healthy. 2 things to point out: 1.
