Rare. Unusual architectural antiques. VERY hearvy, thick, completely original, mixed woods and veneers. I've never seen any quite like them. We have had them in the last 8 attics hoping to redo an old historical home one day. What can I say? WE are"antique" now and need to pass these treasures on to someone younger who can do them justice in a home. It was solid mahogany wood with a beautiful wreath with ribbon carving on it. I took it home, cleaned it up and painted a creamy white coat of Annie Sloan chalk paint on it. Beautiful Vintage Carved Wood Pediment Angel or Cherub in Center Over Door? I didn’t have a lot of time to shop this week because of visiting relatives. But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! This is a beautiful piece. What I have is a vintage carved wood pediment- with carved scrolls and what appear to be tulip flowers and what I believe to be either an angel or a cherub in the center. With rays around its head. This is a piece that can stand alone- but you could certainly hang it on a wall too, if you wanted to add hardware to do so. I'm showing in several photos that the back piece is actually made up of two pieces of wood(you can see the seam at the back, and under the face, ... moreit's hard to notice really anywhere, though, unless you are looking for it) and the face is applied to the top of the backpiece. It's hard to tell for sure, as there are no spots of finish wear to see with any certainty, but I do believe that the face is made from wood also. It feels and thunks like wood to me, but please supersize my photos and see what you think. It is painted a creamy white color(not white white, it has more cream to it than white-white) and you can see at the back that there appears to be a former color of gold on the piece- that's lots of peeks of the gold at the back, but not at the front. There are small spots of finish wear on the front of the piece- hence the"shabby" in my title, but they are small- there's no large spots of finish loss. The back was not ever painted for show, but you can see that it has some paint on it, both the white and the gold. The piece measures 32 1/2" long, 5 7/8" tallest at the center and the wood is 1" at its thickest on either end, and 2 1/2" thick at the face part- from the very back to the highest point on the face. Lovely Antique Eastlake Era Carved Wood Pediment GREAT Over Door Well. I am back from a monster shopping trip to the World’s Longest Yard Sale– we shop Ohio every year and then stop at some of my favorite spots in Indiana to buy from. Spent 2 whole days taking photos and still not done– I have a LOT and I’ll be listing for weeks. There’s something for everyone- primitive antiques, ephemera, military, railroad, industrial, farm finds– you name it, I have it and it’s all unique– you’ll want to keep checking, as I will list every day. Enjoy! Here is a beautiful antique late 1800s carved wood pediment for you. It's one of the simpler ones that I have seen(which is what I love about it! with 6 vertical carved wood lines that separate the 5 down facing triangle points of wood and that have a round carved notch at the top. And a raised double ... moreround piece at the very top center of the pediment that reinforces the round carving. I don't know if this was a furniture or an architectural piece, but it was once attached to something for sure- the bottom left and right are rough from where it was attached. I see no other indication of how it was attached- no mounting holes now open, no marks at the back- whatever it used to be, it appears to have only been attached at the left and right undersides. It's not a cut there either, the roughness is uneven as if they were broken off, but you can't tell that from the front, only when looking at them closely from the underside. The piece is solid wood- I won't know what kind but the patina is darkdarkdark. It measures 33" at its widest, and 11 1/2" tall. The wood on the sides is 15 1/6" thick and it is hefty, weighing just over 4 1/4 lbs. I'm concerned about the shipping to some locations, as it will have an oversize balloon rate, being over 84" packed girth plus height. No repairs, breaks or issue other than an occasional scratch. Stamped#14 on back. Finish has a nice sheen and has been lemon oiled to preserve the wood finish so it will arrive clean, pest and critter free. Large CARVED WOOD PEDIMENT Crest WALNUT Wall / Door Decor ANCATHUS
Carved Wood Pediment/ Crest This auction is for a beautiful. Large wood crest or pediment. I believe this once was a part of an old Victorian bed or mirror as it has 2 screw or nail holes on the back. It is quite large measuring 15 3/4" long x 10" wide(at it's widest) x 2 7/8" thick(at it's thickest) Quite heavy weighing 3 lbs 4 oz unboxed Overall it is in very good condition though there is a chip that has been repaired(see photo 6) but this does not overly detract especially when it is hanging up. A hook has been screwed into the top for hanging. I am not very knowledgeable about wood but I believe it is walnut. Beautifully carved Walnut Furniture Door Pediment. This has been in my private collection for over 20 years. I call this my"French Fleur de Lis" Pediment since it has a similar design. Hangs great over doors or as an attachment to other furniture. Pediment is in great shape for it's age. Solid without repairs. Wood has a nice smooth matte sheen. 80 Antique Victorian Door Window Plinth Bullseye Rosette Salvaged Wood Wooden
Please read all contents of this auction before you place a bid! Up for auction: We used salvaged heart pine wood and floors from a hundred + year old farm house and cotton mill in Franklin County. North Carolina. We needed to replace a large number of rosettes during the restoration of our ca. 1890 Victorian Gothic home(over half of the original rosettes to our home had been removed in a 1952 renovation) Unfortunately. The milling company used the wrong blade/pattern when cutting the replacement rosettes for our home. Though we tried to resolve the problem by re-milling these rosettes, using the other side- in the end, we decided to start from scratch. Therefore. We are selling all the rosettes to barely offset what we've already spent towards this endeavor. Keep in mind that these blocks were hand cut precisely for the rosette size we needed, not to mention we drove well over an hour to drop off and retrieve them from the milling company who did the work for us. The blades were custom cut but in the end, did not meet the specifications that we had requested. This is a great deal for the individual who appreciates the authentic materials needed for preservation and truly understands the difference in restoration and renovation! There are a total of 80 rosettes. 19 cut on one side. 61 are cut on both sides. These rosettes measure approximately 5" x 5" x 1 1/8" each. This is 100 plus year old heart pine salvaged wood that has been cut and used to match period ca. 1890 rosettes in our home. This group is the leftover from our Victorian home restoration project. While newly and professionally carved. This is 100 plus year old salvaged heart pine wood. This is not new wood! Rosettes weight about 60 pounds total.
