The rod is intact on both. But feels brittle. We moved it a little, but did not want to risk breaking anything. Once these are in place they don't need to adjust, but if you want them to move really well and still be adjustable, you could replace the threaded wood with metal parts. There are some pieces missing. But all could be made by woodworker with basic skills. There are some pieces chipped off the crown and we hae 2 of those pieces, but not all. There is wear to the varnished and painted surface. Right now these are anout 56" Long x 8" tall There looks to be about 7" of movement possible on each side(14" of adjustment total) But they are ... moremostly extended now. INCREDIBLY HARD PIECE TO FIND! If you are lucky to find something similar at an architectural salvage business. Rest assured, it will be priced over $1000. This is a genuine, Victorian era, window cornice. Still has old hooks and loops in back. Especially striking is that this walnut piece has no less than 3 stain colors! It is in wonderful overall condition. If you simply want it for an over door pediment or cabinet crest, it is flexible for those uses too. The center carving is simply a work of art. It has a pierced fan at top with 2 Eastlake round medallions. The bust is fantastically detailed. Additional carved crests near each end. Antique VICTORIAN architectural wood window box valence carved figure head
Antique Victorian window box valences with female carved heads. They are wood with gesso type material forming decorations. Offering a set of 3 valences(50" wide X 6" deep X 14" tall. They came out of an old Victorian estate in Massachusetts. They are not in perfect condition as there are some medallions missing as well as a several chips in the gold finish. I have most of the missing medallions and the other areas can be restored. These would look fantastic in an old Victorian or Colonial style home. Please rely on photos for cosmetic condition. From our non-smoking home… Wonderful old Window or Door pediment. Made to cover or hang either shades, curtain hardware, or valances. They also are great for putting above a door to hang Porteries to be able to partition off a doorway without a door, either for heat or privacy. This pediment is made with a central floral medallion. With bellflowers or leaves decreasing in size towards the edges. The top has egg-and-dart molding, and the bottom a smaller version. The piece retains its beautiful old gold paint. Now with a beautiful patina. Leave as is, or make it your own. I have cleaned them up a little, but there is still some detail cleaning around the decorative pieces that I’ll leave for the new owner. This and another that I have listed came out of the attic of my grandparents home in Garden City. A beautiful stately stone home. The piece ... morehas been strengthened at some later time with a piece of plywood across the top(also preventing dust on the top of the curtains) and at two places on the inside. It appears from the hardware that these most recently were fitted with roll-up shades. There is a small piece of molding from the right upper side as you are looking at the piece. Antique Pressed Brass Curtain Valance Shelf The beautiful valance features gilt pressed brass over a wooden frame. Originally used for a curtain valance. But has potential for a variety of applications. As you can see, it can be mounted on a wall as a narrow display shelf. It would also work well over a work of art with lighting hidden behind it. It could also be installed above the head of a bed for a dramatic drapery valance headboard. It measures 35 1/2" long. 5" high, and 5" deep. Queen Anne Victorian Window Lintel. Fan Corbels with Sunbursts. Salvage.
Beautiful single window lintel from a Queen Anne Victorian home. Features 2 large ruffled fan corbels with sunbursts in the middle. And a row of 6 shingles that raps around the top to create a gingerbread or"Wedding Cake" look. The piece is missing one piece of trim from the right side(the left side is detached, but present) and the four buttons from the front shingles are also missing. The piece needs to be stripped, sanded, and regaled to have an original look, but has a great cottage look as is. I believe they are made of tin as they are very pliable and can bend and also be unbent easily. The tin is mounted onto a same shape piece of wood behind it for stability. This is a matching set of 3 although one of them has the center medallion piece missing. Each valance is mounted on 1" thick wood behind it with the hardware to attach it to the walls. They are not in perfect condition. They need a little bit of unbending and moving about a bit and then 2 of them will be pretty close to perfect antique condition. The third one does have the center medallion piece missing which isn't obvious when it stands alone, only alongside the other two do you notice it. ~ Two Antique Copper/Brass Window Valances ~ I recently brought these charming antique valences home from a wonderful original late 1800's homestead estate ~ It was classic Victorian from top to bottom and boy.What fun we all had.it was so hard to leave! Each valance is 58" long and made from a 1" thick plank that's beveled on one side similar to crown molding. Then covered with thin 15" x 4 1/4" lengths of deeply embossed/raised relief copper.carefully matched& fastened by copper tacks At first I thought perhaps it was a colored tin. But seeing that the underside has the same coppery tone(only slightly brighter) I'm thinking it's copper or a copper/brass mix Love the touches of old blue rust on the well-aged patina! Originally padded and wrapped with fabric beneath the copper. There are only tiny remnants ... morenow. 1800s GOTHIC VICTORIAN CHURCH WOOD TRACERY WINDOW
This is an architectural salvage piece I bought from an estate of a longtime collector. It is 32" H. 33"W and 4 1/4" Deep. It is a bit of a fantasy piece as the true window was open at the bottom, like a inverted V. this would have been only the top portion. Near this window there were some additional pieces of the same structure and wood. I was able to piece them together to enclose the bottom. There were very few scraps, and all but a few inches were put to use. The seams were filled with glue and sawdust from the pieces. I've taken pictures of the joints so you can see it is not perfect, but it has a nice architectural charm. I think the whole looks to the unknowing eye like it was always this way. As I said, this makes it a bit of a fantasy piece, but it also makes it one of a kind. Piece retains it's original finish, ... moretouched up in aforementioned spots. 80 Antique Victorian Door Window Plinth Bullseye Rosette Salvaged Wood Wooden
Please read all contents of this auction before you place a bid! Up for auction: We used salvaged heart pine wood and floors from a hundred + year old farm house and cotton mill in Franklin County. North Carolina. We needed to replace a large number of rosettes during the restoration of our ca. 1890 Victorian Gothic home(over half of the original rosettes to our home had been removed in a 1952 renovation) Unfortunately. The milling company used the wrong blade/pattern when cutting the replacement rosettes for our home. Though we tried to resolve the problem by re-milling these rosettes, using the other side- in the end, we decided to start from scratch. Therefore. We are selling all the rosettes to barely offset what we've already spent towards this endeavor. You can choose which side you'd like to use them for in your project(s) ... moreBefore you assume that this is pricey for this lot. Keep in mind that these blocks were hand cut precisely for the rosette size we needed, not to mention we drove well over an hour to drop off and retrieve them from the milling company who did the work for us. The blades were custom cut but in the end, did not meet the specifications that we had requested. This is a great deal for the individual who appreciates the authentic materials needed for preservation and truly understands the difference in restoration and renovation! There are a total of 80 rosettes. 19 cut on one side. 61 are cut on both sides. These rosettes measure approximately 5" x 5" x 1 1/8" each. This is 100 plus year old heart pine salvaged wood that has been cut and used to match period ca. 1890 rosettes in our home. This group is the leftover from our Victorian home restoration project.
