Authentic. Circa 1870s piece with original square nails! I believe it is made of walnut with a wonderful raised, burled walnut panel in the center. Eastlake spoon carving on burled panel. Raised, carved flowers near each end. Repeating xx trim along top. It even has matching turned finials on top. Convenient, old, hanging wire attached in back. ANTIQUE 19th CENTURY VICTORIAN CARVED WALUT WOOD CREST or FURNITURE PEDIMENT PARTS Two beautiful. Old, Victorian Wood Pieces that go together nicely, and form a crest, or just to use as parts. They are carved from Walnut with very ornate carved flowers and leaves that are carved all the way through. They both have a scalloped top and plain back. This was probably part of a settee or large chair, perhaps a chaise lounge, because it has holes where upholstery tacks were(see photos) Also, on each end there are holes for dowels(the photos show both pieces put together like an arch way(they would have to be doweled again or glued to stay this way) These beautiful pieces of wood each measure approximately 13 1/2" high x 12" across. So, together, they would measure about 24" across. The wood is about 1 3/16" thick. This very ... moredecorative wood is in good condition but would need some refinishing or painting and a little restoration where the dowel holes and upholstery tack holes are. There are the usual minor nicks, from age and use, but no loss to the carving. Two beautiful old pieces of Victorian craftsmanship! Being offered as is and with No Reserve. This is a very attractive antique Victorian era pediment salvaged piece. It has such a rich patina! I believe it is made of walnut. However could be mahogany(sorry don't know woods very well) It is heavy and solid. It has been beautifully carved with leaves and walnuts. It measures 14" long, 5 5/8" wide and 7 1/4" deep. It looks like it was a corbel but could have a lot of uses.It is in excellent condition except for a thin crack on one side as pictured. Nice, Eastlake spoon carved pinwheels to the left and right with classic center flower and leaves in the middle. Gorgeous Antique Victorian Carved Walnut Architectural PEDIMENT Crest Crown
ANTIQUE CARVED PEDIMENT CREST Striking antique Victorian carved walnut dresser. Mirror or bed pediment crest measuring 28-1/2" long, about 16" tall and about 1-5/8" deep at the thickest point. Featuring simple carved and stylized graduated arms on each side edge, center is finished with two incised leaves around a tiered floral mount- an applied crown or crest completes the top. The peak is pierce carved with a charming heart design- crest is made of two pieces that are block mounted with an overlap creating an almost three-dimensional effect. Condition is very nice with no cracks. Discoloration, worm holes or damage- it may have a few tiny scuffs or rubs and some age related usage wear, but has been hanging on my bedroom wall over a large cheval mirror for years and other than cased dust, it is in wonderful shape! Up for auction is a wonderfully carved victorian walnut crest. There is some wear and small chips but the worst is the curl on the left end is missing(see last picture) The crest is about 9" long and 3 1/2" tall. The piece is about 2" wide. The pegs are 4 1/8" on center. The portion where the pegs are is indented 1 7/16" The crest is being sold as found. Very nice wood finish. Would make a fantastic door or window topper or hang over pictures as a conversation piece. Minor imperfections: Holes underneath that once attached to furniture. One of the nicest architectural headers I have ever sold! Highest quality you can buy. Best of all. In near MINT condition! Rich flawless patina. The list of bells and whistles include.c ompletely freestanding beveled base.4 giant turned urn finials across the top.2 of them on beveled platforms.vertical column at each end with beveled front edges.5 urn spindle rails.textured. Recessed panel stretches below& between the 2 inside finials.Victorian acanthus top scroll carving to left and right of head.cornice molding arch in the middle top.further in, is a round raised trim ring around the face. then an elaborate medieval court jester/joker head. The head is in perfect condition with a classic felt 3 pointed hat and jingle bells at each end. You can even see some clothing with folded material around his collar. This is an absolute piece ... moreof 110 year old art. At this level of quality, it is more an investment that it is a purchase. It measures about 45 1/2 inches long& almost 10 inches tall. It also has dramatic depth, at about 4 inches. Top finials will be removed for safer shipping. There are 2 VERY minor condition issues. 2 finials have, on their back facing sides, tiny chips near tips.
