This lovely piece came from a local estate of a French couple. It is a wonderfully crafted iron panel with a point at the top. The piece has age: it has oxidation on most of the parts as part of its charm. It looks very good over a table as a décor by itself. It has thick, bevelled trim along the bottom and raised bevelled panels far left and right. 2 vertical, fluted columns have contoured bases and round medallions at top. In the middle is a leafy carving with another raised, bevelled panel surrounding it. Above the beveled cornice trim is a dramatic sunrise decoration. This whopper measures 38 1/2 inches wide and just over 22 3/4 inches tall. The very top looks like it is missing something and the far right area has a darker patina. This week we have this gorgeous Antique/Vintage wall or Window panel. This piece is intricatly hand carved in a leaf and honeycomb motif. It is also hand painted. I am not sure what this originaly was from but there are three pieces of metal(brass. I believe) hardware fittings on the back three corners of the piece. I do not think it was a door but it could have been a fixed piece some how. It is a very heavy piece made out of solid hardwood. I think it may be teak or walnut. This is a WHOPPER! Circa 1800s. Architectural header. Perfect as a window valance, especially over wood blinds. This is high Victorian quality at its best. It has side columns at each end with Eastlake inscribed triangles at the bottom, parallel vertical grooves above, then beveled cornice trim with arch on top. All along the bottom is bull nose trim with more Eastlake inscribed carving near each end. Further up is sawtooth trim of real burled walnut. Beveled cornice trim directly above that. Ornate spindles at each end with a large burled walnut panel in between. The burled walnut panel has a diamond medallion near the spindles and a small beveled, burled walnut medallion in the middle. It has been stained to a warm dark finish and has only minor nicks and scratches. The sides are unfinished because this was removed from a large buffet.
