Lots of details include, repeating exclamation marks across the top, Eastlake inscribed carving near each end, a sawtooth pattern that may be burled, and trim with repeating pyramids. ANTIQUE WALNUT VICTORIAN SPOON CARVED VINTAGE FRETWORK CORNICE FURNITURE PEDIMENT A lovely. Antique, Eastlake Victorian furniture pediment that appears to be made out of walnut. It has spoon carved decoration with has traces of gold still inside. There are spools that decorated each side and woodwork that looks like a crown. This lovely furniture pediment measures approximately 48" long x 6 1/4" high on each end and about 6 1/2" in the middle. There is about a 3" slope from the top flat part, down to the front of the spools. It appears that the blocks, in the middle next to the spools, were added recently. One of the points of the crown, in the middle, is missing and the scallop on one end is missing the top. A couple of other scallops have some damage to the wood that is not really that noticeable. There is a metal ring ... moreon each side for hanging, two screws in the back that were probably used to attach it to a piece of furniture, and the front has two nails in the wood, where someone must have hung something. One of the spools has a broken part that was probably done when the new block was added(not noticeable) Despite the flaws, this is still a very beautiful, antique, Victorian Cornice that will look great being hung and enjoyed. Antique Pressed Brass Curtain Valance Shelf The beautiful valance features gilt pressed brass over a wooden frame. Originally used for a curtain valance. But has potential for a variety of applications. As you can see, it can be mounted on a wall as a narrow display shelf. It would also work well over a work of art with lighting hidden behind it. It could also be installed above the head of a bed for a dramatic drapery valance headboard. It measures 35 1/2" long. 5" high, and 5" deep. It measures 54" wide. 25" deep, and 9 1/2" high at the back, with the brass skirt measuring 5" high. It is in excellent condition with only a couple of small dents to the brass. Antique Shabby Barbola Roses Pediment Mantle Shelf Pelmet Bed Crown Cornice
This auction is for an Antique Vintage Rare Solid Wood Barbola Roses Pediment. The paint is original to the piece. The background is a shabby muted pale creamy yellow. The Rose swags are a soft shabby muted pink with soft mint green leaves. The swag tops are tied off by gold ribbons. The top of the board is painted a mahogany burgundy tone. Above that the wood is notched and painted in gold trim– The very top of the piece is unpainted which could easily be covered with a lace runner or repainted or simply high enough on the wall to be left as is. Or perhaps the new owner would prefer to paint the burgundy the same color as the roses to make it pop more. The paint is original to the piece. There is just a slight piece of the Barbola missing on the center rose swag. But would not really be noticeable with matching paint. If a person is artistically ... moreinclined, they could repaint to the shabby color(s) of choice. The odd thing about this piece is that to be completely a 3 sided pediment– it is missing the left side. Of course a piece could be added to this minus roses. Or the other side taken off and 2 new pieces put on both side with a paint to simply match the muted creamy yellow. The left top end has a slight slant to it, so I am thinking this actually was probably a longer mantle, pediment to begin with that was cut in two& that is why the odd side without the finish. It measures 44 1/2” across and is 10 ¼” tall and 6 ½” wide. So I think I am starting with a low starting price on this in lieu of the above factor. I’m sure someone creative out there has the ingenuity to figure the other side out. The original hardware is inside. But perhaps the new owner would want to have this refurbished. I have never hung this personally. It is a substantially heavy piece. Thus the expense in shipping because it is so dense. These are rarely offered on Ebay. I believe these are from the Victorian Gilded Age. They would have probably been used as a Cornice box for curtains. ANTIQUE 1800's GOTHIC VICTORIAN ORNATE CARVED WOOD VINTAGE PEDIMENT CORNICE CRESTS A pair of very beautiful. 1800s, pediments that probably when on the back of chairs. They are made of solid wood and have openwork in the center with applied leaves on the sides. Each lovely crest measures approximately 14 1/2" across x 9 1/4" high(not including the dowels on the bottom) x 1 3/16" thick. The wood appears to have the original patina with some scratches to the surface finish. One of them(see photo) is missing the rosette in the middle and the wood is separating at the top and needs to be glued down(see photo) There must have been something else on the very top, because there is a dowel hole on the top of each one(see photo) Everything else looks great on these wonderful old pediments!
