HAND CARVED QUEEN ANNE STYLE CREST / PEDIMENT
This is what I believe is a hand carved Queen Ann style crest rail or pediment. It is made of pine and measures 15" wide x 2 1/4" high x 1 1/4" thick. It was most likely intended to be used on a the top of a chair. We have more than one of these available. It is available for pickup or can be shipped by Fed Ex ground for 9.80 including insurance. We will gladly combine lots whenever possible to save on shipping costs.

Lovely Antique Circa 1800s Hand Carved Wood Pediment Piece I have to tell you about the auction that I went to this week. It was in Geneva Illinois. In a sandstone building that was built before the Civil War. The sale was the final liquidation of an antique store(they‘d had one previous auction- so much stuff, they had to have two) that used to operate out of this location- but the building has been closed, as well as the business, for over 20 years following the passing of the previous owners. Now, we’re talking two stories, an attic and a basement PACKED with antiques- it’s hard to imagine, and all of it just sitting for two decades. These folks had amassed a huge antique collection- many many items dating back to the early 1800s and before. There’s some gorgeous pieces of primitive Americana that I found. I can’t tell you how excited ... moreI am to be listing my treasures from the sale. I will be listing them for weeks to come. I also have the last of my farm auctions and South Dakota finds listed this week, so there’s something for everyone! I was saying in one of my other listings how I bought a whole large box filled with a mixture of old antique hand carved pediments at the auctiion- I'll be listing them for weeks. So be sure to keep checking. This one is soooo pretty- and, it has one nail sticking out the back which I've left where it is, because I want you to see that it is an old forged iron sqaure nail. I don't know if this piece came off of a larger architectural piece, or if it was a piece of furniture, but whatever it was, it was grand, for sure. Measuring 5 1/8" widest, it is 8 1/8"tallest and 1 3/4" thickest. It weighs 1/2 lb and is all hand carved out of one solid piece of wood. The finish is beautiful on this one- a little dusty(it needs a cleaning, I have not cleaned it orr messed with the as found patina in any way) but really, with veryvery little wear that can be seen. I'm in love with the feet of the bird- I just can't stop looking at them- the carving is incredible. I purchased a whole box full of old carved pediments removed from their original home- some reallyreally stunning pieces. So you'll want to keep checking in the next coulple of weeks. Although this fella has some damage, I just couldn't let that get in the way of how beaitiful he is. Now, I don't know if he came off of a piece of furniture, or was part of an architectural wall piece, but wherever he lived, it was grand for sure. Carved from solid wood- with a very dark brown patina(look at my first photo as a reference, my close ups were getting washed out, and he's dark just like the first photo- nothing else. The wood appears to be oak but I'm not positive. It still has that wonderful old patina to the wood. It measures approximately 23" long x about 11 1/2" high and the thickest part of the wood is about 2" at each end with the flowers) The wood is split down the middle of the wreath, there are some chips(or missing) to the leaves that stick out on the sides, and there is part of the ribbon missing above the wreath. Now, I don't know if these came off of a piece of furniture, or an architectural piece, but it has a 1" diameter hole in the center that I'm showing in photo 5, that goes all the way through, and I'm assuming that has something to do with what it once was, or how it was mounted. The piece is hand carved ... moreinto the imat of two Koi fish facing away from each other. On either end, in front of the Kois' mouths are grapes and leaves also hand carved. It weighs 6 1/4 lbs, and it is 21 1/4" long, 5 1/4" highest and 3 5/8" deepest. The back is flat, not carved, and the underside allows the piece to stand securely, upright and straight, as in my photos. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The patina is very very dark from age. I'm not 100% certain, but I THINK the wood may be oak- that's from looking at the backside, but it's dark and hard to see the grain, so please supersize and see what you think. The finish shows wear, and lots of alligatoring in certain spots, like I'm showing in photo 8. There's a couple of small nicks- on that I'm showing in photo 6- it's on a scale on the right fish and it looks newer as it's lighter. It's very shallow- at first, I thought it was just finish wear, but it's a shallow nick that measures 1/8" long. I'm showing another shallow chip that is on the underside of the piece in photo 8- on the end of the underside. It is either really old, or it may be original to the carving

Antique Architectural Salvage Pediment Hand Carved and Inlaid Floral Design
Description: Here is a gorgeous pediment that came from the estate of a well-to-do Hartford CT woman who loved to collect beautiful items. This item came from an upstairs storage closet with other antiques and architectural elements that the woman had bought in 1983 when she was planning on building a summer house on Long Island Sound. The invoice showed that she paid $450 for it over 30 years ago. Supposedly it had been carved and inlaid by a well known Connecticut carver but her niece could not remember who for sure. It appears to be carved from two layers of solid mahogany and then two pieces at either end appear to have been nicely inlaid with boxwood in a floral pattern. The carvings are deep and wonderfully done and you can even still see the chisel marks on the top edge which would not have been seen. Huge Vintage Hand Carved Pediment
I have up for auction this long pine pediment. It is 51" 3/4 inch's long. At it's widest point it is 6" 3/4 inch's. And is 3/4 inch's thick. This pc. is all solid, any lines you may see are just that carved lines, no cracks. I left the mounting blocks on the back and that increases it to 1" 1/2 inch's thick in those spots. The original finish is still on the pc. some like it some don't. Age. And sunlight have taken it's toll on that. I have taken pics. of areas of concern. Which are small, or even hidden. Lovely Antique Late 1800s Hand Carved Wood Pediment Turned Wall Decor So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! This one is sooooo pretty. And if you don't want it for wall decor. It's as simple as removing the hanger that the dealer put on the back! It's an antique pediment with lovely hand carved detail. I don't know if it started life as an architectural piece, or a furniture piece, but it will be yours to decide. It measures 19 5/8" long top to bottom and is 8 1/4" at its widest- the ... morecenter. It is 1 7/8" deep there at the center, but measuring from the very back of the piece, to the farthest sticking out part of the piece(the top, which angles out) it measures 4" deep there. It weighs 1 3/4 lbs and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition structurally. The patina is dark and yummy! You can see rustic wear to the wood and finish all over- very minor- scratches, scrapes,teenie holes, nicks, dings, light spots, dark spots and finish wear down to the wood(see photos 4&7 where you can see lighter, small finish wear spots) You can see two nails at the top. And some holes at the back from when it was mounted originally. The back gives some indiaction of its old life too, as you can see that it's lighter at the bottom than at the top. The white spot at the back is an old dealer tag, it will come off. It's dustydustydusty and needs a good cleaning, I have not cleaned or messed with the as found patina in any way. Wooden Eagle Pediments Pair of 2 Antique Architectural Federal Era Hand Carved
For your Early American Eagle collection or architectural restoration project we have a Pair of Two Wooden Eagle Pediments Antique Architectural Federal Era Birds that are Hand Carved in the early 1800's. These were recently mounted on iron stands for display. Using the original holes which go through from the top to the bottom in two places on each pair to host the iron rods that they are now fixed onto. Fairly substantial in size, each of these facing eagles actually measures 10" high x 13 1/2" wide x 1 1/4" deep(thick) and are ready for display on these stands that bring them up to 13" tall. Together they weigh 8 pounds 3.5 ounces including the iron stand. They show their age from alligatored varnish and a deepened patina to the wood. These look like they may have been painted over at one time. And have been dry ... morescraped to remove the paint. They have age cracks to the wood, including one that goes straight through the neck of one bird, yet have retained their aesthetic historic value and decorative appeal. Believed to be from the mid to late 19th century this beautifully hand carved pediment could be just the piece you've been looking for to compliment that project waiting in your shop. The pediment stands 25" high x just under 59" in length x 4-1/4" deep. There are a few minor chips, scuff areas or missing carving near the top, shown in the pictures as a lighter wood, probably a part that was recent damage, prior to my purchase. The lower portion as I show in the 11th picture, on the rear of the pediment, also has some minor damage, but it is on the back edge and less noticeable. This mold is particularly beautiful, in its original state with a deep, rich, naturally aged patina. It feels wonderful to the touch, smoothed from centuries of handling. It has some small, expected areas of damage to the intricate carvings, also some normal age related cracks and chips in the hardwood frame, but nothing significant. Vtg~Large~Hand Carved Maple Leaf Wood Grape Window Panel Black Forest pediment
This week we have this gorgeous Antique/Vintage wall or Window panel. This piece is intricatly hand carved in a leaf and honeycomb motif. It is also hand painted. I am not sure what this originaly was from but there are three pieces of metal(brass. I believe) hardware fittings on the back three corners of the piece. I do not think it was a door but it could have been a fixed piece some how. It is a very heavy piece made out of solid hardwood. I think it may be teak or walnut. It is in excellent condition and measures 22" x 31" and is 3/4" thick. ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL PANEL PIECE - HAND CARVED - FROM ENGLISH MANOR HOUSE
This is a wonderful hand carved panel or decorative pediment style piece. I do not know the exact age. But I know it was part of an old English Manor home that was deconstructed. Its' paneling and other"Old English" architectural elements were applied to a home in Kansas City Missouri. This is an extra piece that was not used in the home. It measures approximately 20" in length by about 6 3/4" at its' widest width and is 1" thick. There is a modern hanger attached to the back-as it has been hung for decoration. ANTIQUE HAND CARVED WOOD ARCHITECTURAL FRETWORK -FROM AN ENGLISH MANOR HOME
For your consideration is a marvelous hand carved wooden architectural piece from England. A gentleman in Kansas City Missouri brought over carved panels and fretwork from England(apparently one or more deconstructed Old Manor homes) and applied them to his own unique home. It was like stepping back in history! This particular piece(most likely due to the breakage) was a leftover that was not used in his home. It is approximately 13 3/4" by 8" by 3/4" at the longest widths. It is roughly carved and has a whimsical quality. The wood has been stained dark-almost an ebony. But I could not say for sure if it was truly"ebonized" at any time. I do not know the age, but I do know it is very old. At least 100+ years(minimal) I would guess it much older than that, but I have no way of knowing. This piece looks lovely by itself, ... morebut could be creatively re-purposed!
