Each of these capitals with engaged coves measures 10” tall x 9” wide x 5” deep and show extensive delicate incised hand carved stylized floral motifs in the Eastlake manner. One cap has a rounded base while the other is polygonal. One is carved of variegated rose marble and one is executed in an unusual regional variegated charcoal gray stone with fossil inclusions. ANTIQUE 1800's GOTHIC VICTORIAN ORNATE CARVED WOOD VINTAGE PEDIMENT CORNICE CRESTS A pair of very beautiful. 1800s, pediments that probably when on the back of chairs. They are made of solid wood and have openwork in the center with applied leaves on the sides. Each lovely crest measures approximately 14 1/2" across x 9 1/4" high(not including the dowels on the bottom) x 1 3/16" thick. The wood appears to have the original patina with some scratches to the surface finish. One of them(see photo) is missing the rosette in the middle and the wood is separating at the top and needs to be glued down(see photo) There must have been something else on the very top, because there is a dowel hole on the top of each one(see photo) Everything else looks great on these wonderful old pediments! VINTAGE(circa 1890-1900) GOTHIC STYLE CHANCEL SCREEN: This is a beautifully carved section of a heavy oak Church chancel screen. The piece is made up of a wide base rail. With a vertical section at each end, that has been joined with a dentiled top sub-rail section. The Gothic style shaping and carving is of high quality. It is very easy to see that the chancel screen was built with great care and high levels of workmanship(please note that the joints between the top section and vertical balustrade end sections did not originally match.These joints were purposely left with shims) Each side of the piece is similar in construction and finish. 1800s GOTHIC VICTORIAN CHURCH WOOD TRACERY WINDOW
This is an architectural salvage piece I bought from an estate of a longtime collector. It is 32" H. 33"W and 4 1/4" Deep. It is a bit of a fantasy piece as the true window was open at the bottom, like a inverted V. this would have been only the top portion. Near this window there were some additional pieces of the same structure and wood. I was able to piece them together to enclose the bottom. There were very few scraps, and all but a few inches were put to use. The seams were filled with glue and sawdust from the pieces. I've taken pictures of the joints so you can see it is not perfect, but it has a nice architectural charm. I think the whole looks to the unknowing eye like it was always this way. Antique Victorian Gothic Tiger Oak Architecture Wood Pediment Carved 45" x 6"
Beautiful Antique Victorian Tiger Oak Pediment Very unique Tiger Oak Pediment. I call this my Sea Serpent Pediment since it reminds me of a deep sea creature. This pediment has some of the most unusual characteristics I have ever seen. The header has a wonderfully carved serpentine top. There are very ornate side carvings, and then those round metal grommets all along the pediment. Looks almost Medieval or Gothic with that Victorian twist. This pediment is a real show stopper and would look great over a door. Window or attached to any furniture.
