Personally, I would leave them as is, for a natural antique look and they have a ... morenice natural patina. The main body of the finials measure about 7 -1/2 inches tall and 4 - 3/4 inches wide. The wood pegs on the bottom are about 5/8 inches wide, and one is a little longer than the other. They are not perfect but absolutely beautiful and very hard to find a nice matching pair like this. I had bought these from a gentleman who had a lot of wonderful architectural salvage items in his inventory and he told me that one of them had been cracked near the bottom and he said that he had carefully repaired it with JB Weld and reinforced it with several small metal pins and you have to look to find the repair and probably stronger than original.

This is the apron f rom an antique table that was about 68"X48" It was an oval table. So some of these are more curved since they were on the ends and the straighter ones were the sides. They are mortise and tenon. One piece has a n edge that is broken off near the end on the back. Antique salvaged carved solid hardwood curved sofa legs restore repurpose
These legs came off an antique camel back brocade sofa from the 1930's(or earlier) that I purchased at estate auction yrs ago. It was a very well constructed piece of furniture with hand tied springs. A heavy hard wood frame, and horse hair for the first layer of padding. When I retired it for good. I salvaged these front legs. The back"legs" were actually part of the frame itself, or else I would have saved them as well. They have the original finish on them except for where I used a little denatured alcohol to help identify the wood. I am not positive. But my best guess is that they are mahogany or maybe cherry. They are NOT identical! That was never noticeable when they were on my couch- only when I put them side by side to measure. Upon doing my research. I found out that this style of carving is very complex and can only ... morebe done with one solid piece of wood so it's actually not unusual for them not to be exact duplicates. Original four factory wood screws included- they are flat(square) head- another clue that they are old. Cross head screws weren't used until the later 1930's and after. Measurements: Right leg: 3.5" all 4 sides at the top where it fastens. 6" high. 2.25" across; 2" front to back at the bottom where it rests on the floor(foot pad) Left leg: 3 sides at 3.5" and the back side is 3" across at the top. 6" high. 2 1/16" across; 2" front to back at the bottom(foot pad) You can't go to Lowes and buy these!

These are four legs from an old 1940's couch- all legs are from the front: two on the corners and two in between the corners. The two corner legs have the dowels on both sides; the two that were in the front do not have dowels; they go flat against the front and underneath the rim/edge. All four have nice carving and taper to the foot. The wood has a walnut finish. The corner legs measure approximately 10 3/4" long. SALVAGED FURNITURE HEAVILY CARVED WOOD PEDIMENT.ALMOST 17" WIDE. ABOUT 11" TALL. THIS IS THE SALVAGED TOP SECTION OF A LARGER PIECE. THE BOTTOM has some broken off pieces. they can be carved in a manner to be unnoticeable and could use some plastic wood as filler. and it can be made to be straight across the bottom with a little tlc. it is basically all there but does require some carving and filler touchup for the little missing pieces. the gold paint is exstensively chipped needs to be refinished. the back looks like some reinforcement wood was applied years ago to help keep it safe. there are no cracks. Just chips. there is a carved long neck flying goose at the bottom and carved flowers in vase at the top. with leaf and ribbon design through out. the pediment is about 1 1/4" to 2" thick at various areas. this is a ... morebeautiful piece to be restored. selling as is as a restoration project. shabby and chic.

Antique Carved Wood Oriental Architectural Remnant Salvaged Piece Chair Splat?
Up for auction is an antique wood carved furniture remnant recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It features two figures surround by stylized flowers, in a relief carving and is found in good used condition. It is antique,but uncertain to the age. The edges of this piece has flanges, much like a chair splat. Primary colors are golf on a red background. The back shows old age,with why appears to be burned marks throughout the back, best seen in photo#5. Overall size is approximately 73/4" in diameter, 10 3/4" from one end of the flange to the other. It is approximately 1/2" thick. The wood is a soft wood. This remnant is not signed. A nice architectural remnant of display or repurposing. Can he hung as art. It is 22-1/8 inches long. 6-3/4 inches high in the center, from a straight line at the bottom corners to the top is 9-1/4 inches and ¾ inches thick. The round rosette is 3 inches in diameter. The piece is as found with some residue of the original finish and some age appropriate dings and rubs on the edges but no cracks or warping. Salvaged Vintage Carved Wooden Legs & Arms for Chair
For your consideration we have a set of 2 wooden carved legs that measure about 7" and matching carved arms about 5 3/4" long. These were salvaged from an old chair that I rescued a long time. I'm not sure how old it was. But the first time I reupholstered it, it was stuffed with horse hair. I reupholstered it a second time, but after having it 30 years it just needed too much work. I was going to reuse the arms and legs for something, but never did. Hopefully someone will find these beautiful pieces useful. Both legs are missing a side piece, but that can be used in the back and won't be as noticeable. There is also a chunk missing from the back of one of the other side pieces. The one arm has a small piece missing at the top and the other one has a missing dowel. They all have a vintage worn patina. Please look at pictures ... morefor they provide the best description. 19th c. Atq VICTORIAN Salvaged Mahogany Ornate Wood Carved Table Pedestal Base.
Offered is a Gorgeous 1800’s Victorian Mahogany table base with original patina and finish. This stunning base has original wood and metal casters/wheels. The legs are solid Mahogany wood where as the body has a Mahogany veneer wood. The piece is in great condition but on one side of the body there is a very slight buckle in the veneer very hard to see and can be remedied please notice photos. It weighs a solid 20 pounds and measures 36” across from toe to toe x 12” high x 11.1/4” wide. This flat base would allow for a planter pot bowl or to reconstruct as a table. Here is a nice antique used chair top crest. It features a nice carved rose& leaf design. Wood is probably mahogany or rose wood can`t really tell. On both lower areas there are lost pieces of wood on both front and back sides as pictured. This measures about 16 inches across- 5 1/4 inches high- 2 1/4 inches contoured depth. This is a great item for restoration. Also would make a nice wall art piece- steampunk- craft- ect. This has the original worn finish. It has not been cleaned- has normal wear for it`s age.
