Victorian white opaline glass single stem EPERGNE base with uranium glass edging
On offer to tempt you today I have a Victorian era white opaline glass epergne base. Possibly of French origin The frilled edge has an applied line of uranium green glass that glows under black light. The stem and foot are hollow to accommodate a single flute and you can feel where the edges have been ground much as you would find in a decanter neck. In very good condition for it's age. No chips or cracks. There are one or two light surface scratches from use and a wear pattern to the base commensurate with age along with the odd air bubble due to the manufacturing process. The is also a ground pontil to the base Approx dimensions: width of central hole 0.75 inches. Antique Victorian novelty white opaline glass soap box, milk opaque scrolls leaf
This Antique. Victorian era, novelty opaline glass soap box dated to mid 1800' It is a hand blown into mold piece with polished pontil at the bottom; embellished with scrolls and leaf design in relief. Very decorative. I believe it is a soap box as it has raised ridges inside bottom. The box measures 5" x 4" stands 3 1/2" high to the top of the most charming finial. It is in very good to excellent condition, without chips or cracks. There is a rough spot on inside edge of the bowl, but no chips. Roughness is a characteristic of that period glass production. Opalescent White Opaline Glass Box Waffle Cut Design Brass Fittings
Beautiful opalescent white opaline glass box featuring a waffle cut pattern and brass fittings. This lovely box opens and closes properly and evenly. During the manufacturing process the glass was cut to allow for a fitting that would include a lock but it was not finished in that manner. One image shows the notch. The box is in wonderful condition with a few bubbles and ripples in the glass pattern which appear to be part of the manufacturing process. Minor faint scratches on the bottom from moving the box on a surface. No chips. Cracks or repairs. The brass fittings have some age related patina and one minor scratch on one side. This waffle type of design is hard to find. Measurements: 3 5/8" long. 2 3/4" tall. 2 7/16" wide.
