I am unsure of its exact age, but it is Art Nouveau ... morestyle in the carving. It is in fairly good condition but there are a few small gouges in the wood and a lot of light surface scratches to the finish. The piece looks to be quite old. It is 32" tall, and 1.75" square at each end. It is a beautiful old stairway spindle, beautifully carved. It would be a great Salvage piece to use in a restoration project or just to use in a decorative project.

A FRIEND OF A FRIEND WAS RAZING A 1915 ART NOUVEAU/ART DECO STYLE HOME IN EAST SACRAMENTO. I WAS MORTIFIED TO SEE ALL THE BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS THAT WOULD END UP IN THE LANDFILL. THE OWNER AGREED TO LET ME REMOVE WHAT I COULD AND RESELL IT. MOST OF THE PIECES I RESCUED HAVE ALREADY BEEN SOLD EXCEPT FOR THIS LONG HAND FORGED IRON STAIR HAND RAIL WITH ITS ORIGINAL MOUNTING BRACKETS. YOU ARE CONSIDERING A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE FIND OF A 1915 HAND FORGED IRON STAIR HAND RAIL WITH TURNED ENDS AND FLAIRED MOUNTING BRACKETS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE ALL HAND DONE BY A SUBPERB CRAFTSMAN. Offered is over 93 feet of matching antique iron fencing. Plus an angled stair section. It is amazing old pitted iron like you would find in a cemetery. This is very sturdy and heavy. I was going to use this in front of my home. But never got around to doing so. It's very difficult to find quantities of wonderful very very old fencing. It has a beautiful rusty patina as it is- or could be painted the color of your choice. There are several bent pieces and some attached hardware.
