It is used to produce blue and green tones on bromide or gaslight papers and lantern slides. Each box contains one large and one small tube of tablets. They are made in England by the Wellcome Foundation Ltd. for Burroughs Wellcome and Co. U.S.A. Inc. New York. The boxes are also marked poison. Each tube is glass with a cork seal and paper label. Each tube is supposed to contain 12 tablets. The 2 large tubes each contain 11 tablets and the 2 small ones contain 10- 11 tablets. There are some small tears on the boxes. This 12.5" coated lens is 3 3/4" long. About 2 5/8" in diameter, and weighs just under 14 ounces. Assuming an effective aperture of 2.5" The lens speed should be about f/ 5. Engraved in white around the front end of the barrel: 12.5" E.F. SERIES III CHARLES Beseler COMPANY.EAST ORANGE, N.J. U.S.A. E.F. probably stands for"effective focal length" It looks like a lens for projecting lantern slides(3 1/4" x 4 1/4" transparencies) But its style makes me wonder if it may have been used on a small opaque projector. If that is true. Then the lens should be capable of projecting(or covering) a sheet of paper or the page of a book–a larger image than a lantern slide. Indeed. Fantastic Box of Glass Victorian Magic Lantern Slides. Box can hold 50 slides and is sold with 50 glass slides in it. The slides themselves are a mixture of coloured and black and white images- eclectic mix of dancing bears. Social photos, flora and landscape(dated approx 1898) There is a label on the inside of lid with slide descripitions however I cannot guarantee its accuracy relating to the actual slides in the box as most are not labelled themselves. This is a Lot of 25 Vintage Glass Slides taken in Africa. I do not know a lot about Slides. It looks to me like each picture is sandwiched between 2 thin pieces of glass and then taped around the edge. I do not know what they fit. But they are 2" by 2" I took pictures of some of the slides. My pictures look grainy and blurry. The slides look better then my pictures of them. They are all in Very Good Condition, but one has a crack in the glass on one side, near the top. Very rare and wonderful. 1880's Set of Ernst Plank Glass Magic Lantern Slides in a fantastic, original Box. This wonderful. Original Box for Glass Magic Lantern Slides is made entirely of wood in the form of an early"candle box" with a sliding lid and an all-over paper pastedown surface. measures approx. 8 1/2" by 3" by 1 3/4" tall. Besides the all-over, paper pastedown surface there is a label on the lid that reads in part"Slides for Magic Lantern" and features the Ernst Plank Trade Mark. Further text on the label reads"12 Slides" and"Made in Germany" The Box actually contains 16 Glass Magic Lantern representing two sets of 8 matching Slides per set. The views include wonderful winter and Christmas scenes along with comic characters. Anthropomorphic animal images(including a fantastic ... moreslide with Frogs! Circus Scenes, etc. Although these 16 Slides fit the Box exactly, the content does not match the label and we can only assume that they are not original to the box. There is a second smaller label on the bottom of the Box which identifies the retailer as"Henry Schwarz Toys" of Baltimore- one of the famous Schwarz Brothers whose Toy Stores were among the most famous of the late 19th and early 20th century and continue to this day under the name of F.A.O. Schwarz in New York. All 16 of the Magic Lantern Slides are in excellent condition with only light wear to the images and with no physical damage of any kind. Of 49 Nassau St. New York. In 1850. Two Daguerreotypists in Philadelphia. William and Frederick Langenheim, invented a transparent positive image of a photograph in the form of a glass slide that could be projected onto a wall or screen using a Magic Lantern. PAPER Binding Tape (Black) for Magic Lantern Glass Slides - Crepe
This is a black paper-based water-resistant tape with a natural rubber adhesive which is ideal for the repair/replacement of missing. Cracked, or damaged binding tape on glass magic lantern slides. This tape can also be used for blocking out unwanted portions of an image(such as the borders) to get a cleaner projection image for your slides. This tape provides moderate resistance to UV light(although slides probably don't need UV protection at the edges where binding tape is used) This tape can easily be torn by hand(but perfectionists will want to use scissors to get clean cuts) PLEASE NOTE: When repairing lantern slides. Many people try to match the original tape used. In my experience, paper-based tapes like this one are the most common style of tape used for magic lantern slides. This tape is very similar. But not identical, to the ... moretape used for Keystone and other similar lantern slides. NOTE: It has more of a crepe surface(wrinkled surface) than the original tapes. Which tend to have either a very flat surface or a linen-style surface. Please check my listings for other styles of binding tape. Including vinyl tape. For your bidding consideration with low opening bid. I am pleased to offer"50) MAGIC LANTERN SLIDES IN A WOODEN BOX" which I believe are from the early 1900's or perhaps earlier. These slides are 3 1/4" by 3 1/4" and feature different views, majority I believe are from Israel with temples, buildings, people, maps, there is one marked Berlin, another Moritz Bad but the remaining seem to be mostly from Israel. All the slides are without color with the exception of two(the last two photographs are the two with color) and seem to be in great condtion, no chips, cracks or hairlines.they could however use a good cleaning. The dove tailed box is 13 13/16" l. x 4 1/2" w. x 4 1/4 t. and is hallmarked with the"Star Of David" but I could not make out the words/letters and it is in solid great condition, the ... moreinside is very clean the outside has an aged patina look with minor wood shrinkage on the lid and some scuff marks. I wish I knew more about these slides and that I could post all the pictures as they are all very interesting. Magic Lantern Made in the 1920s with a Collection of Medical Slides. In Perfect Working Order This vintage projector is a magic lantern made in the 1920s. Manufactured in Great Britain. It is a charming and highly interesting item that can be still used to view slides enlarged on a screen. This set includes fifty one medical slides, with engravings and photographs related to hernia. The slides are perfectly stored and organized in their own wooden case. The set, quite beautiful, is almost a museum piece in very good condition. The wooden case where the slides are kept bears a printed white label with a black inscription that reads JOHNSONS OF HENDON– TRADE MARK. And a scale-shaped logo. Johnson of Hendon Limited can trace its roots back to the 18th century, when Richard Wright opened a goldsmith business in London, in 1743. In 1839 the firm ... morewas already called Johnson& Sons, and then began manufacturing chemical salts of silver and gold used for the photographic process recently invented by Fox Talbot in those days. From them on the company started their long association with photography, and in the World War II they focused exclusively on this field. Over the years they also manufactured enlargers and cinema cameras until the firm disappeared in the 1970s. The magic lantern we can see in these photographs was manufactured by another firm. Made of black lacquered metal and brass with wooden slide-holder. It is very well preserved and works perfectly. Under the objective there is a stamp engraved in the metal with the inscription ESTABLISHED IN 1816– TRADE MARK, and a monograms with the letters JW that probably correspond to the manufacturer’s market name. On the other hand, the case for the slides(all of them in black and white and in perfect condition) is made of solid wood with fine dovetail joints. It has two black-enameled iron shutters and leather strap, loose at one end. Vintage Hinged Wooden Box Containing 14 Magic Lantern Slides was purchased at an estate sale. Slides measure approximately 4" x 3.25" Four glass slides show red text. Which represent part of a presentation for"LYON-HEALY NEW YORK HARP SALON" Six glass slides contain what appear to be schematic or patent drawings for harps. Some of the text on these slides include"Vade Hull" V.M.A. Franklin, Inventor" and"Melville A. Clark, Inventor" Finally, there are four other slides, that appear to be of the traditional photographic type, that show three views of a harp and one patent drawing(I assume) labeled"Melville A. Clark, Inventor" and Howard P. RARE ‘TEN LITTLE NIGGER BOYS’ COLOURED MAGIC LANTERN SLIDES – CIRCA 1900 - MINT!
For your consideration is a rare complete set of magic lantern slides called“Ten Little Nigger Boys” This set is MUSEUM QUALITY! They are circa 1900 and are number 515 of the Primus series of magic lantern slides made by Wilhelm Busch. One of the most famous slide makers from the latter 1800’s to early 1900’s. The slides are a thick two-paned glass with hand painted pictures in the middle of the panes and depict the full nursery rhyme of Ten Little Nigger Boys on 8 slides. The box is complete and in fantastic original condition. The slides themselves are all in perfect condition as you can see in the attached pictures and all of the glass is perfect with no cracks. The colors are nice and vibrant and there is no burning of the images which often times happened when the slides were exposed to the light for too long. I laid them on white paper ... moreto take the photos which came out very nice but the pictures are even more bright and clear when held up to allow light to pass through. This is the probably the nicest set of these slides that you will ever see! Magic lanterns were the first form of projectible entertainment and were the forerunner to the slide projector popularized in the mid 1900’s. The first magic lantern was invented in the mid 1600’s and they were lit by candle or oil lamps. For the most part they stayed in use until the early 1900’s until they were replaced by slides on film in the more modern projectors. The full rhyme is: Ten little nigger boys went out to dine; One choked his little self. And then there were nine. Nine little nigger boys sat up very late; One overslept himself. 1915 San Francisco Pan Pacific Magic Lantern Slides Set of 4 Blind Boy Liberty Bell For auction is a set of 4 glass magic lantern slides depicting colorized photos of the Liberty Bell and related ceremonies at the 1915 Panama Pacific Expo in San Francisco. These are quite unusual. The slides are in very good shape and the images are still very clear. The 4 images are: 1. Blind boy touching the Liberty Bell- a close up photo of a young boy who is blind touching the Liberty Bell. 2. The Liberty Bell on its float of flowers flanked by 2 policeman or guards. 3. The Liberty Bell enroute to San Francisco(the slide says Portland. OR) and shows a parade of school girls waving American flags. The Liberty Bell made numerous stops on its way to San Francisco for the world's fair. At each train stop. Cities welcomed the Liberty Bell with great fanfare, ... moreparades. Music and ceremony. 4.
