I obtained this stately dome with the lovely 19th century French Japy Freres gilt ormolu bronze mantel clock that we are offering on eBay at this time. Unusual Victorian Glass Display Dome Diorama Taxidermy Doll Clock
This is a very unusual bubble glass display dome. Selling just as I found it. As you can see by the photos there is a headless taxidermy bird with a naturalistic scene in the background. The glass dome sits on a footed wood base(for table display) or the glass can be taken off the base and there is a hook so that it can be hung on the wall as well. Obviously the inside items can be taken out and the dome used for whatever objet d'art or objet de vertu you choose. Glass is in excellent condition. Has some very old tape around the outer edge. The ebonized wood base shows some minor nicks. Measurements for the glass dome are 8 1/2" diameter x 4 1/2" deep. Very nice condition glass dome for a skeleton clock or for taxidermy purposes. Glass is wavy and not too thick. With some tiny bubbles in the glass here and there. This oval dome measures 17" tall x 12 1/2" wide x 6 3/8" deep. It has no damage. It has age, but I am not sure if it is 19th Century, or a 20th Century reproduction.
