There are 3 large(one broken) that are 12.5 inches tall by 5 wide. There are 14 matching that are 5.75 tall by 1.75 wide. There are other pieces included. Your bid buys the lot. Overall. They are in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. They could use a good cleaning. There is paint and surface rust. Some of the smaller ones have mortar on them. Antique Cast Iron Railing and Arbor/Gateway This is an extraordinary original cast iron arbor/gateway and railing from the turn of the century. It is made of cast iron. The detail is all surprising intact. Sandblasting will make this piece look amazing. Any rust is surface rust. Solid and Heavy! This auction is for 3 sections of fence. One section is 7 foot long and 30" high The middle arbor/gateway section is 6 feet 8 inches The third section is 7 foot 7 inches long and 30" high In all approximately 21 feet. This can be constructed in several configurations. In the first picture I posted it shows the arbor/gateway in the middle of the two straight railings. This is easy to do as holes are there on both pieces to assemble them in this fashion. From the top of the railings to the bottom of the arch is approximately 2 feet. Antique Victorian Cast Iron Fence Hoop and Spear 160 feet PLUS
I had searched for this fence and footage amount for a long time. Finally found it last summer from a 1800's home in Ny-got it home and now hubby says he wants another type of fence. Lordy. The 20 pieces are leaning up against my brick home where you can see all of the ivy by it. Each section measures 8'2-1/2" from side to side height 33-3/4" to the top of the middle of the hoop. Nice hoop and spear style in pretty nice condition for it's age. I used a sewing tape measure going around the tubular area 1-1/2" Heavy. And of course rusty. I have shown one picture with one section painted with a black rust paint. I placed all of the pieces on the sidewalk for pictures. There are 22 line posts with the supports attached and all finials-these go between the fence pieces. Antique Fancy 1890 Buckeye Cast Iron Fence Gate w Crest Serpents Axes+More NR
I am very pleased to bring you the first of two great cast iron gates that recently came out of the same estate in Western New York that is to me a piece of true Americana and the maker has a great history. Before I start about the gate I just want to share a little background on the maker which was the Buckeye Co of Springfield Ohio. THis was a progressive state of the art facility in the last quarter of the 19th century that made all kinds of wonderful things that included Buckeye pressure water pumps. State of the art farm implements and Iron Turbine Wind Engines plus of course fencing. It was origianlly called Mast, Foos, Co and they were great makers of anything cast iron that would improve life in America and on the farm. So when I say its a piece of Americana.I will let you do some research and there is a lil background on the maker ... moreand company. Now the fence is in excellent condition for age and has a fancy crest which includes a double serpent motiff accented by Midevil axes and fancy scroll work. The gate has its original gate release and even has its original brass handle which has a super patina from age. In addition there is the gate post rod that has the spear finial so you can hang on your own pole or post and it will be cohesive and be the same. If you look the rods are not bent and I can find no breaks, repairs or cracks in any of the body or gate itself. I do like the rounded corners and it gives it a sense of design from The Victorrian period which it came from. Please look at all the pictures and know I am listing another gate along with post and more unique items here at the place where more people are saying they had a great antique-experience!
