SPECTACULAR condition and patina. Original. 1800s, architectural panel. Ornate Victorian fretwork on top is 100% complete. Very 3 dimensional, center medallion. Loads of possible projects for this BEAUTY! Top edge has a curved bevel while the bottom has a slant bevel. Both are stained and finished. It is large, measuring just over 38 inches by 10 inches. It is so much fun to read, and it makes a terrific reference book for what seems like just about everything for home life in the early 1900’s! Fabulous. Contrasting stain, furniture header. These are far more rare to find than even stained pieces. May be from antique cabinet or dresser mirror. The bottom edge is deeply bevelled with triple horizontal grooves directly above. Further up is sawtooth trim with inscribed center piece. Going up further is cornice trim that goes all the way across the front and around each corner. At each end are matching Eastlake? flower/pinwheel medallions. Giant matching flower/pinwheel in the center. Directly left and right of center are contoured, raised, bevelled panels. Hanging wire already mounted in back, along with felt pads to protect wall. This is a beautiful solid black walnut slant top writing desk. Circa 1810.The figured walnut top is very rich and beautiful with its grain patterns,rich walnut tones and beauty marks. I rescued this diamond in the rough. It had many many coats of white paint hiding this beautiful black walnut wood. I lovingly& meticulously hand restored this desk back to full glory. I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed shellac, maintaining the antique warm glow, rubbed to a silky smooth yet allowing the beautiful grain textures to be felt.There was a trim around the back of the top which was missing, I custom made this new back rail trim using reclaimed 200 year old black walnut. The drawer pulls are from a 200 year old dresser and are solid walnut hand carved pulls. The harp shaped end is gorgeous as you can easily see with its ... morecone shaped finial on the end of the hand turned support which joins it to the drawer base.The slant top is fixed in position. There is no lid that lifts up, this was designed as a writing desk, dating back to the quill pen days. There is an age shrinkage split in the top which I chose not to restore. It gives great character to this lovely piece. The drawer locks are missing.I restored all the drawers, carefully taking them all apart and regluing them all and now they are rock solid and slide excellently. Full depth drawers with lots of storage.The desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere in a room. The recessed flat panel sides are a great design. Adding to the beauty. I purposefully left some character marks remain in this desk such as tiny chip of wood,left top edge) pinholes etc, they give this desk awesome character, I was not trying to create a reproduction piece I try and respect the antique with all of its age, history and character. One individual has bottom trim and ornate see-through fretwork. The other single has top and bottom trim with carved center crest. They all have gothic flair. May be made of walnut, but not positive. Including the key hole covers are original.As you can see the hardware is the icing on this cake! The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made.The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All of the drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of hand ... morerubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction.Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years.The photos show casters in the legs, they will not be included.I find they tend to split the legs.There is a knot depression on the upper left side(see photo) I think it adds character and figuring just like the top of the dresser. PAIR 1885 Pierced Walnut Victorian Furniture Corbel Carved Column Shelf Brackets
Matching pair of salvaged. 2 sided, antique brackets. They have pierced, bevelled carving with incised carving. Their ends are nicely contoured with ornately carved medallions above. The wood is walnut. Each one measures approx. 14 inches by 5 1/8 inches. They are almost 2 inches thick. If a smaller corbel/bracket is desired, their length can be cut in half VERY easily. Vintage Cut Glass and Brass Door Furniture/Knobs; Probably Victorian
Some beautiful Victorian style door furniture. I have four different knobs for doors of cabinets and room doors. The brass one. In picture five, has a small screw on it for a attachment(in the picture it is attached to a cork) The others are all glass with flat cut triangles, probably cut on a lapidary wheel. The knob in the second picture is the largest, measuring approximately 4 cm in diameter, it attaches by a screw glued into the glass. The knob in the third picture measures about 3.5 cm in diameter. It has a fluted neck attached to a brass fitting and can be used to open a door. The knob in the picture four is attached to a bolt which used to hold the knob tight. This also measure about 3.5 cm diameter but is not the same shape as the others. As usual with items of this age all parts look as though they have been hand made. The door ... morefurniture is in very good condition. Although the knob in picture two has a few tiny chips on the cut glass. The door furniture weighs about 450 grams. I have three of these dishes and will be pleased to offer a 5% reduction(on auction bid) if two or more are purchased together. The approximate height of the Pitcher is 26 cm. Up for consideration is a very nice victorian trunk. It has a working lock and key. The left lattch. Or hasp, is missing but still closes securely with lock. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. It is a nice trunk that is sturdy. THERE IS A CRACK DOWN THE S IDE THE CRACK CAN BE EASILY FIXED WITH SOME GOOD GLUE IT FITS TOGETHER PERFECTLY WITH NO MAJOR PIECES MISSING I WOULD GUESS THIS DATES BACK TO AT LEAST T HE LATE 1800'S ITS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE SOME CHIPPING AND MISSING PAINT. Beautiful. Matching pair of salvaged, furniture brackets. Solid walnut construction. Guaranteed to be original Victorian pieces, circa 1800s. Nice contoured design with carving on BOTH sides. They also have round bevelled medallions on each side. Ordinary wear, but nothing missing, broken, or repaired. Wonderful rich patina. This is a Gently used. Beautiful Barbie Victorian House In the rare colors of Aqua and Pink. It features a porch with a mailbox and doorbell by the front door. Inside there is a Kitchen with a table and chair that pull out, an oven and stove, and a sink(the cabinet doors are missing) In the Living room there is a window seat, a fireplace, and a Bookshelf. You can pull the knob out of the turret and crank the elevator to the the second floor. Upstairs there is a crib for Kelly, a bed for Barbie, a sink, vanity and bath tub. There is also a door to the Balcony. The house shows a bit of wear on the decals but it is CLEAN! when closed the house measures 29 1/2" high X 27" wide X 8 1/2" deep.
