Mesolithic / neolithic Danish 14 flake tools of the island of Moen (N/W Denmark)
Mesolithic/ neolithic Danish flake tools of the island of Møn Weight: 132 grams. The longest tool is 8 cm. The shortest is a 4.5 cm flake scraper. This is a selection of 14 flake tools of the island of Møn. I'm having a bit of a clear out of odds and ends. I'm getting fed up with having boxes of beautiful stones. Never seeing the light of day. So I'm offering you a great collection of flakes. It is impos sible to put ages or uses on all these tools. From as early bromme cu lture. Back in the 10000's BC up to the bronze age. The wh ite patinad flakes are coast finds. The salt water gives them this colour. The blue and the gre y t ranslucent are field fi nds. In the collection are small corn sickels. Flake scrapers, p ier cers and blades. What more can I say. A nice addition to anyones collec tion.
6000Y.O: UNIQUE AX ADZE AXE DANISH STONE AGE MESOLITHIC - NEOLITHIC FLINT SILEX
NORTHERN EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description"Core Axe( Ax) with rhombical cross section" Normally a typical Mesolithic artifact. But grinded parts at the upper side showing that has to be made in Early Neolithic times! Core axes normally play the greatest role in the Younger Maglemose Culture(8900-6400 bc) Kongemose Culture(6400-5400 bc. and the older Ertebølle- Ellerbek Culture( Kitchen Midden Culture) 5400-4000 bc. During the early Maglemose period. Core axes came into ever more common use and gradually replaced the earlier flake axes. Core axes were manufactured out of smaller pieces of flint by knapping away surplus stone along the side edges. The new axes used less raw material and were easier to resharpen than the flake axes, which explains why they came to dominate over the older ... moretype. Wear induced polishing along the cutting edge indicates that these axes were probably used to trim and finish wood. This is further supported by microscopic analysis of the cutting edge of axes recovered from the"Ochre Graves" at Bögebakken. Many archaeological finds have shown that core axes were hafted at right angles to the handle in the same way as an adze. Core axes are normally unknown from the Neolithic period! The rhombical type of adze is unsymmetrical to the vertical and the horizontal plane. The side-edges shaped from opposite sides. Making the cross section assume the shape of a rhomb or a parallelogram. The cutting edge is parallel with the sides. The length of this wonderful artifact is 84 mms! Made of Danien flint! Provenance is an old collection. More details will follow the artifact. I guarantee absolutely for the authenticity of this terrific artifact from the Hunter Gatherer Stone Age. Mesolithic neolithic Danish core axe/adze, concave cutting edge ca. 3000-2000 BC
Mesolithic/neolithic Danish core axe/adze with a concave cutting edge from the late Ertebølle/early Beaker culture. Ca. 3000-2000 BC Weight: 197 grams. Length: 10.5 cm. Width: 5 cm These core axes come in a variety of forms. I haven't seen many of this type. It would have been set in the shaft horizontally and used in wood working rather than in the felling of trees. It is undamaged and has a beautiful patina. This axe was found on the isle of Mors, north-west Jutland. It is from an old collection.
Mesolithic / neolithic Danish thin bladed bi-faced axe/adze, ca. 3500-2000 BC
Mesolithic/neolithic Danish bi-faced axe/adze. Late Ertebølle, early Beaker culture, ca. 3500-2000 BC Weight: 93 grams. Length: 8.75 cm. Width: 5.50 cm, height: 2 cm This axe/adze would have been used horizontally and was used to hollow out rather than fell trees. It is probably Falster flint and has a beautiful grey patina. This axe was found on the isle of Mors. North-west Jutland. It is from an old collection.

2 Paleolithic Aterian and 7 Mesolithic Sahara Neolithic points/tools
Lot Description: This is a group of 2 Aterian tools and 7 Mesolithic unifacial blades found in the Sahara desert. In the region of Morocco. The two Aterian tools are very old, a good 30,000 years oldand quite possibly up to 50,000 years before present. They are the first tools with a stem for hafting and were probably used for cutting and scrapping of hides. The tips of these points are typically worked around rather than coming to a sharpe tip necessary for a spear point. It could be that these tools started as a spear point and were later re-purposed into hafted scrappers. Whatever the case they are interesting relics with thick patination and are sand polished from sitting in wind-blown deserts for many thousands of years. The unifacial Mesolithic blades are of a much later time probably about 8.000 years ago and prior to the Neolithic ... moreera. The two Aterian tools are approximately the same length: 1 5/8th inch long(43 mm) The unifacial blades range from 1 3/8th inch(36 mm) to 2 inches(52 mm) The condition is good. There are ancient dings to a few of these, as can be expected with working tools; most are complete. See picture for details. The color in hand. Is better than the picture indicates. The natural light somehow washes out the color or maybe it's my photography skills. These relics are representative of everyday tools. Many of these tools were used until they could no longer function well because they were to small to re-sharpen at which point they were discarded others were lost in the hunt. Background information on the Sahara Neolithic(I am working on a paper for the earlier time periods) is provided with my 2-page essay on the subject. Which will be included. 2 BLADE /DRILL FLINT"Paris Basin" MESOLITHIC / NEOLITHIC / FRENCH PREHISTORY
flint blond white patina of the Paris Basin MESOLITHIC/ NEOLITHIC type of debitage Levallois method.SIZE 60MM ref 772 10.000 TO 3.000 BC most of them are Middle Paleolithic. some are Upper Paleolithic and some of its objects are some early Neolithic. But the definition is difficult. because I was often asked the same question about the age I said it's actually quite easy. The patina is the result of an alteration of flint blond by particular component of the earth in this region. is an extremely long process. on some parts, it reaches 1/ 2 mm. it's a good way of dating but not infallible it depends on the burial environment. on flint dating back three or four thousand years is superficial alteration of tenth of a millimeter, but it is decreasing which mean it takes longer in the second tenth. you can see the example photo of a cut ... morein slices and the patina over two millimeters. not in sale) COMBINE SHIPPING fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moustérien. google.fr/imgres?imgurl=http:www.la-detection.com/dp/images2/61894R14.jpg&imgrefurl=http:www.la-detection.com/dp/message-61894.htm&usg=_EVyQcb3KlQoUMVF7liFXFpMnsA4=&h=578&w=667&sz=28&hl=fr&start=74&sig2=-mJ_mnwNrmA5gtS0a5Dz3w&zoom=1&tbnid=mLq3Os-BLonPiM:tbnh=120&tbnw=138&ei=HZTMTPyhDeWG4gaB75DdDA&prev=/images?q=HACHE BASSIN PARSIEN&start=60&um=1&hl=fr&safe=off&sa=N&gbv=1&rlz=1B3GGLL_fr_FR399&tbs=isch:1&um=1&itbs=1. google.fr/imgres?imgurl=http:www.cavernes-saintonge.info/paleo/zgraqb1.jpg&imgrefurl=http:www.cavernes-saintonge.info/nomade.htm&usg=_HPPnJpaywFvoZ11-zK_hf2qVSCk=&h=388&w=500&sz=71&hl=fr&start=84&sig2=ea7cEqGIzV9biGP1ak8Bgw&zoom=1&tbnid=gcspCGYOhjVJ-M:tbnh=101&tbnw=130&ei=tIvMTODVAceH4Qb2zf2CDg&prev=/images?q=PALEOLITHIQUE BASSIN PARSIEN&start=80&um=1&hl=fr&safe=off&sa=N&gbv=1&rlz=1B3GGLL_fr_FR399&tbs=isch:1&um=1&itbs=1.
