(4) Aterian Early Man Points (30,000 - 80,000 BP) Prehistoric African Arrowheads
4) ATERIAN EARLY MAN POINTS. The Aterian industry was a type of stone tool manufacturing developed around the Atlas Region of the Northern Sa hara Desert of Africa. Today's Morocco& Algeria. It dates back to the Middle Stone Age(Middle Paleolithic) and was a development of the Mousterian culture, a tool technology usually associated with Neanderthals. Tools and weapons of the Aterian culture date back 30.000- 50,000 years or more. With at least one Aterian site reported at 82,000 years old. Opinions differ, but it is generally accepted that Aterian tool technology was developed and used by early humans known as Archaic Modern Humans, contemporaries of Europe's Neanderthals. Crude stone tools and weapons had been made and used much further back in time, but the Aterian industry was the among the first to develop a stemmed point ... morethat could be mounted to a shaft and used as a projectile, as a dart, spear or arrow point. These fascinating ancient tools ar e quite rare and represent a milestone in early human development. These pieces are 1 1/4" to 1 3/8" long and clearly show the stem designed for mounting to a shaft. As you see in the photos. They have some minor ancient damage from thousands of years ago, which is common with this type of point. Otherwise they are in very good condition and have a rich ancient patina that only countless eons of exposure to the elements can produce. These are great prehistoric collectible artifacts. And remember, there is free shipping anywhere in the U.S. I offer 1-day shipping as a matter of course. Although I often ship the same day payment is received. I figure once you've paid for it, you own it, and might as well have it as soon as possible. As with all of my artifacts, it is g uaranteed authentic for life! FREE SHIPPING of this item in the U.S. Shipping to Canada is $7.70. All other international will be $11.48. Please contact me for combined shipping rates if you are bidding internationally. If you enjoy a nice selection of unique collectibles. Plea

Ancient Saharan Arrowheads Beads and Vintage Trade Beads w/ Hebron Lot 30
Thank you for looking at my auction. Beads like many of those in this lot are often called Saharan Neolithic. They came from Mali. As did the uniface Mesolithic arrowheads. The beads are getting harder to obtain these days. They are obviously very old. But their exact age is hard to determine. The ancient bead above the coin is large and thick. The one directly below it is a rare ancient glass bead called a Hebron. Of which I have only a very few remaining. I have thrown in some other ancient trade beads as well, some of which appear to be clay, and some vintage trade beads, several of which are ostrich egg shell, nice with their pale cream color and speckles. I have added an ancient ostrich shell bead, too(below coin) It has old accretions adhering and has turned a nice tan color with time and exposure to the minerals in the sand. In this ... morelot, I have also added vintage cowrie trade beads brought back from the Pacific in the fifties or early sixties. Arrowheads like the ones in this auction are older than most Neolithic points. And are more expensive each year. The area in which they are found has been uninhabited for thousands of years. It used to be green and fertile and flowing with rivers and dotted with lakes. Once the climate changed millennia ago. Though, the seas of sand took everything. A whole world disappeared. Make a nice necklace of your own design with beads that could be as old as. Or perhaps older than the Great Pyramid. Wrap the arrowheads with wire to make great center pendants. I like to think of the creations you will make and wear. Poetry and art belong to everyone. All across the centuries. I will ship the lot in a bubble wrap envelop for $2.32 anywhere in the US. Or $5.80 for a priority box. I will ship anywhere in the world. But international buyers must await my invoice to know the amount to include for shipping, as the totals vary so widely from country to country. The old nickel is for size comparison only. And does not come with the lot. Thanks again and have a blessed day.

3 x Miniature Paleolithic Arrowheads, 70,000-30,000BC (N047)
Paleolithic Arrowheads Material: Flint Colour: Various Type: Nosed Point. Tanged/ End Scraper Age: 70.000-30,000BC Area: Sahara The'Aterian industry' was a stone tool tradition of the Middle and Late Paleolithic period. Derived from the Mousterian culture in the region around the Atlas Mountains and the northern Sahara. It refers the site of Bir el Ater, south of Annaba. The Aterian people were among the first to use the bow and arrow. Aterian stone tools are an advanced African form of the European Levalloisian tradition, adapted to desert use. A distinctive Aterian sign is the formation of stems, or tangs, on tools to facilitate hafting; this was done on spearheads, arrowheads, and scrapers. Bifacial spearheads were produced with a very fine pressure chipping technique, equivalent in difficulty to those used in later tool traditions ... moresuch as the Mousterian. Leaf-shaped blades made by the Aterians have been likened to Solutrean blades; it has often been suggested that the Aterians may have entered the Iberian Peninsula during Solutrean times. These tanged/ stemmed arrowheads represent a milestone in early human cognitive thinking as well as Paleolithic history. The man-made protrusion seen in ATERIAN tools is the first evidence of a tang on a projectile point. Proof that the points were hafted on shafts and eventually developed into arrowheads. I will include with these Paleolithic arrowheads an A4 information sheet giving some background information about the culture and containing a colour photograph of the items you have purchased. I will also include a basic'type guide' see pictures to know what to expect. I have personally handled over 35.000 of arrowheads or'flints' during my collecting over the last 20 years. All of my items are authentic, I do not sell fakes or reproductions, this is as important to me as it is to you. If any of my sales are ever proven to be anything other than stated and genuine I will refund in full. Please look at my other items or visit my shop. PAYMENT(or not
