This mirror is supported on two uprights that have the original brass threaded cheval bolts with decorative knobs. It has its original gold gilt gesso liner and intracately original beveled mirror glass. This is a super attractive shaving mirror with an Ogee curved profiled front to the base containing three drawers. Two of the drawers(the righ and left sides) have been professionally rebuilt and restored in addition to all the four finely crafted bracket feet. These are period accurate feet for this mirror and a sizable investment has been made in correctly restoring the base of this mirror. The piece is coming up on 300 years old and pieces don't get this age without some issues and attention being paid to them. Fortunately this was a professional restoration and not some hack repair we inhertitated and need to have addressed. But we did pay appropriately for the pleasure. One other issue worthy of mention-at some point a previous owner had installed probably brass finials with threaded rods on the tops of the uprights. We are offering the way it is. If you would like finials we would be happy to direct you to several sources for them or have something custom turned by our woodworker. This is an fantastic piece and we were lucky to obtain it. If you desire a fancy option we again will assist you but we are selling this with all its present charm. Integrity and rarity. The shaving mirror is 17" long, 8" wide and 23 1/2" tall. Beveled glass 1890's mirror 75"X19" 44 Lbs mint condition Ogee frame hall pier
We are offering this excellent Federal style mirror from the late 1890's. It is a stately 6 foot 3 inches long. This can be shipped by UPS or picked up. At my home, in NY 10956. We have an SUV so this can be delivered. To your home, if less than 30 miles from 10956, NY. A hall. mantle or pier mirror of figured flame mahogany on maple measuring an impressive 75" X 19" X 2" thick. It weighs 44 pounds unpacked and 59 pounds well crated for safe shipping. The 3” wide by 2" thick, Federal style, Ogee frame contains the original beveled glass that is in superb condition. This has been in our family since the 1920's. And was surely made decades earlier. Obviously, it has been well cared for and is quite useable for many more generations. It is simply too large for our current downsizing needs and we regretfully must part ... morewith it. We were told, by our grandparents, that this frame was part of a larger piece that was in our old family home in Pennsylvania. We cannot imagine what that piece must have measured as this mirror is over six feet. The solid and sturdy wood frame is in exemplary condition without any cracks or chips and all 4 corners are undamaged. Which is unusual and desirable for a piece this age. The fine beveled glass and silvering is excellent and this clear unfoged mirror is totally useable. We removed the thin wood sheet backing to photograph the glass back and frame, then replaced the backing. There are no company names on this frame just two small initials"CL" stamped into the exterior frame top. Hanging this vertically is easy with the old. Original, hook that goes through the frame's top. Hanging horizontally is done with 2 screws into the wall studs which is the method shown in the gallery photo of my home. Can also be simply stood on end without hanging on the wall. This fine piece was hung on our stairway landing for some 40 years. Very handy for a full length look on the way out of the house. For your consideration is this Antique Mahogany Ogee Highly Grained 24" x 35" Wall Mantel Mirror Description: This is an antique mahogany ogee mirror that measures approximately 24" long. 35" wide, and 2" deep. The mirror itself measures approximately 14 1/2" long and 26 1/4" wide. The frame is made out of mahogany with a deep shapely curve, gorgeous grain, and clean mirror. This mirror has a wood panel back and updated, strong hanging wire. This antique mirror is masculine enough for a den, but beautiful enough to be displayed anywhere in your home. Condition: This mirror is very strong and sturdy as it is held together by square nails. The wood on the bottom border of the frame has knicks in it. As well as the edges of the frame. This is a heavy mirror, so the hanging wire appears to have been replaced ... moreby the previous owner so that it hangs securely on the wall. The wood panels on the back of the frame have been repaired in the past and you can see where it was glued in some areas, but one piece of one wood panel is split and separated from the frame(see photo below. Also, if you look closely, you can see glue below the wood directly around the mirror; this may have been from when it was made though. The mirror is not beveled and the silvering is intact. Lovely old Ogee Mirror or frame found at an Estate Sale in Virginia in the 1980s. Maintained in my non-smoking home. This is the perfect size for over a small bathroom sink. In a hall by the coat tree to check your hat, or tucked anywhere. Actual size is approximately 18-3/4" x 22-3/8. The frame is deep, with three main parts. The mahogany veneer has lovely variations/flames. The piece can be used as a mirror. Or would be lovely as a frame for a period portrait. The frame is in lovely condition with only one small area of veneer loss. It came with a thick. Heavy mirror and a substantial solid wood back. The back was semi-secured, and when I removed the nails, I found an inscription, which is shown in one of the photos. The mirror has some slight(but age appropriate) silvering losses. Unkown if mirror is original as most ogee mirrors were not beveled. Revrese of mirror has a paper back. Top two edge corners each have a very miniscule edge flake. Ogee-type turn of 18th c. mahogany veneer mirror
This is a beautiful mirror from the late 1700s-early 1800s. I've actually had it on one of my walls for the past few years. And am only letting it go because I'm replacing it with an actual ogee mirror that's 3 times its size. It has a gorgeous, warm, lustrous mahogany frame with great patina. At one time. It would have had some sort of crest at the top, which is now gone, revealing the cross-shaped mounting holes where it had been. In place, the holes aren't noticeable. The same applies to the strange scratches that I just noticed on the edge of one of the sides(in photo) which could probably be largely smoothed over w/ some paste wax(I hate to suggest such things, but it's true) It's only a stretch of a couple inches on one side close to the corner. I took a last photo with my phone to show that. As with all such ... moremirrors, the silver isn't perfect anymore. The dark areas in that photos are dark areas that don't reflect an image as well. That funny triangle in the corner is a reflection of something, though. The mirror worked well enough for me. but I'll suffer for fashion(and the integrity of a 200-year-old mirror) You won't find one of these every day. Help me find it a good home. Up for auction is an antique Empire Ogee mahogany frame with vintage antique 8x 10"+ mirror recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It has losses to the veneer and losses to the mirror. It would have been a dresser mirror with the way it had side handles for swiveling for shaving. Brushing hair etc. There are losses to the mirror and it appears hand cut but we do not know if it was original to the frame but it is antique. It does retain its original wood backing shield cover. Large 19th Century Mahogany Veneer Ogee Wall Mirror
The frame of this mahogany veneer mirror measures 18 and 1/2 x 26 inches. The mirror itself is almost 10 x 17 inches. There are 4 small flakes of veneer missing as shown in the photos. This can be shipped by UPS or picked up. At my home, in NY 10956. A hall. Mantle or pier mirror of figured flame mahogany on maple measuring an impressive 75" X 19" X 2" thick, it weighs 44 pounds unpacked and 59 pounds well crated for safe shipping. The 3” wide by 2" thick, Federal style, Ogee frame contains the original beveled glass that is in superb condition. This has been in the family since the 30's and was probably made decades earlier. Obviously. It has been well cared for and is quite useable for many more generations. It is simply too large for our current downsizing needs and we regretfully must part with ... moreit. We were told, by our grandparents, that this frame was part of a larger piece that was in our old family home in Pennsylvania. All items listed are Original and Genuine. As always! Empire Mahogany OGEE Mirror. Circa 1840-50. Wonderful period mid 1800's mahogany Ogee Mirror from a North Alabama Estate. Overall great condition. Totally original with the beautiful rich finish and patina. The veneer is in good condition overall with only flakes missing along the very edges ONLY. See images. When displayed these are not even noticeable. The mirror is ORIGINAL with normal wear. But still in great shape for its age. I like it original, not"new" looking.
