I finally decided to part with my great aunt's antique heavy ornate wall mirror. Antique Gold Leaf Wood& Gesso Wall Mirror. This mirror is just gorgeous and has been well maintained. The glass is in good condition.no chips. No cracks, no hairlines etc. The mirror needs to be cleaned. I have limited space, and that's why I'm selling it. There is a small water damage on one corner at the top right but when it's hanging the wall- no one can't tell. One corner of the mirror the same top right- a portion of wood approximately 1/2" x 1/2" wood came off. My mom. One time, when the gold was oxidized from age, had it restored with new gold leaf sheets. It hangs on the wall with wire which is intact. Based on the way it's built I believe this mirror dates back to the 1930s or earlier. Fine gilded leaves and stars highlight the metal framework that surrounds this beautiful antique mirror. The back of this lovely old mirror is one solid piece of wood with a heavy metal chain and circular hook to secure to the wall. The mirror is in what I would term good condition but the metal frame that surrounds the mirror shows signs of wear where the brass finish has been worn thru. We are pleased to offer this very rare. Exceptional piece. This offering features a 1950s a large, gold leaf/gilded frame large wall mirror with attached gilded iron 3 arm wall lamp/sconce. This incredible mirror/sconce is European made and is marked with the Ferracolor, Made in Spain, metal tag which is still attached to the sconce. This is an exceptionally rare and beautiful piece. The mirror is large and the giltwood frame is quite ornate. It features an intricately carved wood frame with Neoclassical design. It is accented with acanthus leaf scrolls, curved lines and a carved shell in the center bottom. The large, 3 light iron sconce features wheat leaves with acanthus leaf accents found under each lighted arm of the sconce. All are gold gilded and are in exceptional condition. There is expected aging to the iron sconce in just a couple ... moreof areas, but overall it still maintains its beautiful and original gold finish. The mirror frame is in immaculate condition for its age. It shows only minor aging in just a few spots but nothing that is easy to see except upon very close inspection. The mirror has some aging at the top in the form of a cloudy, lightly spotted appearance(see pictures 9& 10) Again, this does not stand out much except with close inspection. Otherwise, very good to excellent condition. The sconce is attached. Through the mirror with screws. It has been given the ability for the sconce to move a little for adjustment. The power cord features an on/off switch. It is vintage, but in good condition and the sconce is working perfectly. I have pictured with only one lighted bulb as 3 makes it a little too bright to photograph well. The mirror frame measures 38.5" wide and 34.5" tall. The sconce is 34.5" wide and measures 6" tall at the tallest leafed section and 7.5" tall at the center arm. Ferracolor pieces are exceptional in quality and extremely hard to find. DESCRIPTION: Finials Fleur de lis Elaborate wood acanthus leaves are supporting the shelf Wood is just beautifully carved covered with bright gold leaves. The back side is just as beautiful and tells a lot about the workmanship. Cardboard back was taped on the back and it's loose. Nothing to be concerned about it. It looks like the mirror was replaced because is not beveled. MEASUREMENTS: 25" long 10 3/4" wide at widest point( shelf) Inner oval mirror 9" x 7 1/4" It stick out from the wall 4.5" Shelf is 3 3/4" wide at widest point x 8 3/4" long. CONDITION: Minor cracks are shown in last 3 pics. I have counted a total of 15 minor cracks. Shelf has some missing and repainted carved"ball" ... morerim( pic 4. 9) 75" missing carved"balls" rim. 2" roughly replaced( and repainted( not sure if that is visible on pic 9) 1" replaced repainted on the other end. SquareTrade © AP6.0 Beautiful Early 1900's'Hollywood Regency' Wood Framed Wall/Hall Mirror! Very Nice condition. Large, Heavy Glass Mirror with Gold Gilded Gesso over Wood frame. This Mirror is in very nice condition overall. But it does show some wear. There are a few spots where the gold gilt has'chipped' over the years, exposing the gesso underneath. There's also some overall wear to the gold as you can see in the photos. Note than on the left side(as you face the mirror) one of the'leaves' is missing, revealing the wood under it. Doesn't look'bad' but it is visible. This is most likely from the 1920's or 30's, but I could be off a decade on either side; it's definitely an older, early 1900's mirror, and looks very nice, especially considering its age! Please see photos for ... moredetail) This mirror is fairly HEAVY at appx 20 1/2 pounds. The paper backing has come off(just happened as we were loading it) exposing the wood back which is tacked into place as you can see in the photos. I don't see any identifying marks as to a maker. But it's very well made, ornate, and quite solid. MEASUREMENTS: Beautiful Decorative Frame is a large 34" Tall x 40" Wide(at it's tallest/widest points) And is about 1 1/2" thick. T he actual mirror(opening in frame) is 23 1/2" x 35 1/2" the main part of the wood frame is appx 1 1/4" Wide all around. Decorative Top. Sides, and Bottom add to this width) This weighs just under 22 pounds before packing(shipping weight is 28 pounds when safely packed& boxed) As you see in the pictures. This is Beautiful! Well made, in VERY Nice Condition- ready to hang/display in a hallway or on a wall.
