The gleam of the candlestick light is reflected from the mirrored back. The original from which was located in the Peyton Randolph House in Williamsburg. It measures 17 3/4 inches tall. 13 1/2 inches wide and 6 7/8 inches deep. It is in excellent vintage used condition with little to no wear for its age. Vintage Chippendale mirror. Not sure how old. We can trace it back to 1974- Saw a family picture from Christmas 1974. And the mirror was on the wall in the background- more than that we cannot say about age! Think is mahogany wood with gilded shell on top. Carving appear to be hand made. There are visible tool marks on the back of the carving. Size- overall- 38 inches x 22 inches. Mirror part is 22 inches x 13 inches. Very good condition. No scratches on wood, very nice color. Chippendale style 38" x 20" mirror(including frame) mirror itself is approx. 26" x 18" believed to be turn-of-century and no newer than 1920s(based on style, back-board, hooks, etc. and remaining in fine cond. Unseen back is not as"fine, but OK. If I had to take an uneducated guess, I say the wood is possibly walnut. With mirror, it weighs 13.4 lbs. so this supports the walnut premise to some extent. QUAINT" furniture line that dates from 1899-1916. It is finely crafted of mahogany and and features a classic Chippendale scroll at the top with an otherwise simple Federal style profile. It retains its original dark mahogany finish. The back is a solid wood mahogany panel that is nailed to the frame. Burned into the mahogany backing is: STICKLEY BROS. CO.GRAND RAPIDS" The original hanging wire is attached to(2) metal hanging hardware that is screwed to the frame. This mirror was either hung by the wire or the metal hardware. Antique Hand Carved Maple Chippendale Style Wall Mirror Gilt Decoration
Striking antique hand carved mirror in the Chippendale style. Wood frame looks like it was made from maple and has been decorated with gilt work. Which has faded a little with time. Elaborate fan or palm leaf shaped carving at the crest is mirrored by more simple fretwork below the mirror. The mirror itself is surrounded by a rectangular beaded frame. The mirror hangs by a twisted piece of wire on the back. No maker's mark. Unsure of exact age, but I would guess it dates from the late 1800's. Overall. The mirror is in good condition, however there are some cracks and damage to the carving above the mirror. See pictures. As mentioned above, the gilding has faded as well. The glass itself is in very good condition with little or no silver loss. As such it may not be original to the piece. No other breaks or damage.
