We offer a very beautiful Antique Empire Dressing Mirror. This piece has been in our collection for many years. The feet have the brass capped claw foot on them and everyone is present and secure. The side pieces that screw the mirror on the base have wooden centers with brass backs. They are very special. The finials are perfect as well and give this piece its crowning touch. The mirror is quite foged from age. And could be replaced. We have left it original for the next owner to decide. The piece was being stored and does need a good polish and cleaning. We took advantage of a clear evening when we shot the pictures last week as we had been having a lot of rain. The mirror frame is in very fine condition for a 19th century useful item. It could use some strenghtening on the one side back where the screw goes into the wood. It is one of those rare pieces from the Empire period that we are lucky to even find in any condition. There are surely little nicks and dings from over 165 years ofr use. For your consideration is a SUPER and RARE! Dressing Mirrow with inlaid Drawer most likely from Charleston SC or another low country location. Possibly VA. I believe it is Charleston because backboard I believe is Cypress interior Yellow Pine with Mahagony Veneer with Fruitwood banding and inlay. Oval inlay is similar other late 18th C Charleston card tables and case pieces with Fruitwood inlay. Simple Queen Anne feet were used late into the 18th C on Low Country region including Charleston and Eastern VA furniture and accessories. Very good condition, the mirror is replaced and there is some banding inlay that needs to be glued. Pieces will be secured and the new owner may glue back if they wish to. Feet are original, I believe hardware is original as well. Great patina. The back has heavy arms to hold the old mirror in place. There is some silver loss to the back of the thick. Beveled edge mirror. The piece is made of solid, fine-grained mahogany, with oval beveled mirrors. The piece is free standing, and in superb condition. The glazing on the mirrors is complete, and the mahogany case functions properly, and is free of chips, cracks, or restorations. This is one of the finest examples of this type of piece that I have seen in a while. Measurements Each individual piece of the mirror is 8 1/4" tall. 6" wide and has an 1/4" depth. Please scroll down under this description for 34 additional views. 19th century antique dressing table mirror. 23" wide across the base, 22 1/2" tall, 8" deep base. The mirror which has a gently arched top is 13 3/4" wide and 17" high. The mirror frame is veneered with a slight convex surface. The mirror supports are solid wood with rope turnings over a stacked round base and are topped with turned finials. There are three simple feet under the bombe front base. The top surface and side are veneered- lovely figuring to the walnut veneer on the top surface. I am not sure if this is the original finish but I think it is- it shows some faint alligatoring and has wonderful rich color. There is an area of veneer loss on the far left end of the base and a little ding on the back of the base behind the mirror support. A ... morebit of wood is missing from one of the supports- it's on the back side and won't be noticed. The mirror has some tiny black spots on the surface- more prevalent and noticeable on the edges. The finish has some marks and scratches but I think perfectly acceptable for the age of the piece. This is a Antique Dressing Mirror. Measures 41 inches tall& 20 inches wide. The glass shows the age in areas but the wood surrounding the mirror is quit beautiful and I'm not sure what kind of wood it is. It is though in very good condition. Curved on all 4 sides and nicely done. I'm not sure how the mirror was originally mounted or if it was made to just hand on a wall. It can be either put in a swivel pedestal or hung on a wall. XLNT Vintage Antique Gold Gilt Wood & Floral Gesso Framed Wall Dressing Mirror
This is an excellent vintage wall mirror with nice floral gesso wreath crest and ribbon pattern all the way around the outer edge of the frame. The gold finish is excellent and original with mild darkening from age. There are a few minor scuffs and scratches on the finish and one tiny chip on the floral decoration at the bottom of the mirror. But otherwise it looks fantastic. The glass looks very good with some tiny, very light cloudy spots in a few areas, and images are crystal clear throughout. The paper backing is torn but still mostly intact, and there is a hanging wire attached to the back. The crest is firmly attached to the top with no looseness, and all joints are tight. The outer dimensions of the frame are 19 3/4" W x 32 1/2" H. It will be packed securely, double boxed, and insured during shipping.
