Great rich patina on original Mahogany wood finish. There is ordinary surface wear over the years where people have touched the knobs there is loss of color. The bottom corner of mirror frame has some cracking of the wood that doesn't show unless you get down on the floor and look up. The mirror appears to be the original glass with deterioration from behind which is typical of old mirrors. Could be easily replaced as back panel slides out easily. Has Rosewood veneer frame with one corner chipped that you can view in close up photo. There is also some veneer that is a little loose that could be glued down better if desired. We leave all changes to buyers discretion. The heavy brass feet with original brass casters in good shape and move easily. One of the bun turns on the right has an age crack that you can view in close up photo. All and all this piece is ready to use if you like all original furniture with patina! This mirror is supported on two uprights that have the original brass threaded cheval bolts with decorative knobs. It has its original gold gilt gesso liner and intracately original beveled mirror glass. This is a super attractive shaving mirror with an Ogee curved profiled front to the base containing three drawers. Two of the drawers(the righ and left sides) have been professionally rebuilt and restored in addition to all the four finely crafted bracket feet. These are period accurate feet for this mirror and a sizable investment has been made in correctly restoring the base of this mirror. The piece is coming up on 300 years old and pieces don't get this age without some issues and attention being paid to them. Fortunately this was a professional restoration and not some hack repair we inhertitated and need to have addressed. But we did pay appropriately for the pleasure. One other issue worthy of mention-at some point a previous owner had installed probably brass finials with threaded rods on the tops of the uprights. We are offering the way it is. If you would like finials we would be happy to direct you to several sources for them or have something custom turned by our woodworker. This is an fantastic piece and we were lucky to obtain it. If you desire a fancy option we again will assist you but we are selling this with all its present charm. Integrity and rarity. The shaving mirror is 17" long, 8" wide and 23 1/2" tall. We are pleased to offer this MAGNIFICENT. Antique to older vintage, cheval floor mirror! This"piece of art" is fashioned in the Maison Bagues or Palladio style with strong characteristics and influences of each. The striking frame is gilded iron in bamboo form. The base features 2 front and back legs and a"tied" bamboo cane accent. The top of the frame is gothic style(pointed) arch. The frame pattern extends around the mirrored glass and the arched or pointed top is repeated as well. The mirror has a position adjustment screw on each side. The iron is substantial in diameter and the gilding is exquisite. There is minor and expected patina to the iron on the lower section of the frame. Overall, the piece is in extremely nice condition. It is stunning at every turn. Very unique and very rare offering. The original floor ... moreprotectors are still in place. The back of the mirror glass is a wood veneer. It has warped somewhat over time but it is still in tact. There is a discolored area on the lower section of the veneer backing which indicates that it was wet at some point. The mirror glass has some cloudiness in areas. The lower right corner reveals a loss of the mirrored finish to the back(photo 9) The glass would be an easy and inexpensive replacement if you so choose. The piece is large. The outer frame is 69" tall and 20" wide. The feet are 16.75" front to back. The mirrored glass section frame is 54" tall and 14.75" wide. The mirror is fixed and does not bread down for shipping. Antique Arts And Crafts Style Cheval Mirror
Very beautiful full length swivel cheval beveled mirror. The mirror itself is 4 feet tall. In the base it is anywhere between 5-1/2 to 6 feet tall depending on which of the three settings you choose on the base(see photos) The base is on wheels for easy moving from place to place. The mirror has some black spot damage throughout due to age. There is a large grouping of spots on the top left that you can see in the photos. I had this in my bedroom for several years and the spots did not affect the usefulness of the mirror. The mirror is very heavy. My husband can change positions in the mirror height but I cannot it's a little too heavy for me. I am not an expert. Vanity is made of three different woods and is comprised of a large locked center drawer flanked by two smaller drawers on each side and has a cheval mirror on top with barley twist posts. Excellent detail. There are two Sandwich glass knobs on the front. Carved leaf detail to the posts, scalloped skirt under the center drawer. Beautiful color and natural grain pattern. Overall in very nice condition with light surface wear, one small chip to the skirt, a hairline near the back right foot, a split to the wood behind the mirror, the glass pulls are slightly different from each other, a few drops of white paint to the top of the mirror and back. Antique Walnut? Heavy Cheval Tilting Full Mirror Brass Castors & Hardware
I am not an antique dealer but I do love antiques. This mirror was in a very exclusive. High end women's boutique and it is very heavy. The mirror is beveled and has some silvering loss but I think that just adds to the charm of the mirror. It is in very good condition and still has a lot of life left in it. Overall the measurements are: 72 1/2" tall 31" wide. Including brass hardware 18 1/2" deep I think it is walnut. But whatever wood it is, it is solid! The finish is dark and yet you can see the grain. Lots of detail. The casters/castors are brass and roll well and the hardware it also brass. Originally I think there were some spacers between the mirror and the stand but I do not have those but I thought some little wooden wheels might work there if you thought it was necessary. Surperb Antique Mahogany Cheval Mirror on Stand Made in England
This is a superb Mahogany cheval on stand made in England circa 1870. To the top it has carvings either side it has large round turned columns with two turned columns to the base.
